    Ruben,

Humble yourself under the mighty hand of GOD.

Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Get on your face before Him! Persevere in this way, and YOU WILL HAVE VICTORY OVER THIS. I pray for you! Much LOVE in JESUS!

Regarding baptism. Matthews 28:19 & 20, Jesus said: ...teach ALL nations, baptizing them ...Also, Mark 16:15 & 16 say: preach the gospel...he that believe and is baptized shall be saved. Baptism come before you are saved. Baptism is essential to salvation. Acts 2:37 & 38. 1 Peter 3:21 ... Baptism saves us. 2 Timothy 3:16 & 17 tells us that "ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness ... Be blessed!

Irene, I'm sad to read of your son's situation & unhappiness. Many of the world in this situation would do what they think is right for them & go on to remarry & hopefully be happy again. But since you're seeking Scriptural guidance on this, I see that the Lord & the apostle Paul were very clear on this issue as pertaining to God's view on marriage.

Jesus spoke about this in Matthew 19:3-9. Jesus first gives the meaning of marriage: that it is a binding act since these individual people have come together in marriage & have become 'one flesh'. This means that God doesn't recognize divorce as those two have become one flesh by their act of commitment & consummation. Then Paul spoke in 1 Cor 7:10-11, that if one departs (divorces) from the other, then they should remain in the state of singleness (this applied to both husband & wife, even though the instruction was given for the woman). For if they should remarry, then they break the covenant made towards the holy gift of marriage. For this reason, apart from turning to Christ for salvation, the decision for marriage remains so important a step to embark on.

If your son is a believer, then God understands his situation & will give Him sufficient Grace to keep on the path of obedience to remain single for His sake.

We see in 1 Tim 1:20, Paul chiding Hymenaeus & Alexander for having (in some manner of blaspheming) made shipwreck of their faith. We're not told exactly what they did, but was certainly grievously wrong, causing Paul to put them out of the Church (deliver them to the world of Satan). Paul, as an apostle, could well take such action as He preached the Truths of God's Word & from Christ. Sadly, our Churches still entertain those that have swerved greatly from the Truth & so keep their congregation in the dark, believing lies.

" Gen. 6:2 tells us who fathered the daughters...."The sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of men were fair, and they took wives of all they desired and chose". Jude 1:6 tells us what God did to these angels, "And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day"."

No, every person is the the "Sons of God", only those who repent of their sins and ask Christ to come into their lives and follows His commandments are "Sons and Daughters of God". The angels are also referred to as Sons of God.

Adams, Judg 2:18 speaks of people appointed by God to rule over His people & to guide them in His Ways. They were a pre-cursor to the appointment of the kings, of whom Saul was the first. This Scripture doesn't tell us about those called to be evangelists. We are all tasked with the ministry of the Gospel to the unsaved, whether one to one, or en masse. So much so as we see the Day of the Lord coming.

    e. Feast of Trumpets ( Lev 23:24). "ye shall have a Sabbath (rest), a memorial of blowing of Trumpets, an holy convocation". A picture of rest that we have in Christ & the sound of the Rapture Trumpet & our presence with our Saviour. Yet to be fulfilled, but a certain looking forward to event.

    f. Day of Atonement ( Lev 16; 23:26-32). A day to make restitution for the wrongs committed. A day of humility & repentance. Animals were sacrificed yearly but could never deal with the permanency of the sin issue. But it looked forward to when Jesus would come to atone for sins permanently ( Heb 9:12-14). The offering of bulls & goats was for payment for their sin, but in Lev 16:10, there was the Scapegoat that bore the sins & took it away (into the wilderness). Our debt has been paid & removed.

    g. Feast of Tabernacles ( Lev 23:34). Feast followed the Day of Atonement. It recalls God's provision to Israel during their 40 years of wandering & they remembered that time by dwelling in temporary structures for seven days. As He dwelt with His people in the Tabernacle, He also, through the Spirit, dwells in us ( Mt 1:23: God with us).

So, I've given this brief rundown of the Jewish Feasts simply to show that all the Feasts of the OT are fulfilled in Jesus Christ, at the Cross & at His Coming again. To perform them now as a Christian has absolutely no meaning & may even demonstrate disdain to His Finished Work.

William, if you would allow me to guide you further with this.

Actually, the whole Law (10 Commandments including Precepts, Ways, Statutes, Commandments, Ordinances, Word, Path, as well as the Ceremonial Laws, Sacrificial Laws & Feast Days) were fulfilled completely in Christ & His Cross.

But to your research with the Feast Days, I would say:

    a. Passover ( Lev 23:5). Fulfilled completely in Christ ( Jn 1:29). To remember this Feast practically would mean that one would still be looking forward to a time when a Passover Lamb would be truly acceptable to God.

    b. Unleavened Bread ( Lev 23:6). Fulfilled in Christ ( Jn 6:35). This Feast was in remembrance of the Israelites fleeing Egyptian captivity & unable to carry leaven to add to their bread. So this freedom from hardships is remembered in that Unleavened Bread. Leaven is represented as sin & decay; once incorporated it becomes inseparable in bread; same is true of sin in our lives & only through Christ's death can that leaven be dealt with. So a believer can't identify with the Jewish remembrance as it's no longer applicable as Christ dealt fully with our sin.

    c. Firstfruits ( Lev 23:10). Fulfilled in Christ ( 1 Cor 15:20). The Feast was to honour & thank God for His provision to them. It was celebrated the third day (16th of Nisan) after the Passover Feast (14th of Nisan). The third day is significant as Jesus arose from the grave on the third day. Paul also refers to Christ "as the firstfruits of them that slept". So remembrance of this Feast is fulfilled in Christ.

    d. Feast of Weeks (Pentecost) ( Lev 23:16). Fulfilled after the ascension of Christ ( Acts 1:3-5). Israel brought the first harvest of grain to the LORD & occurred 50 days (= Pentecost) after the Feast of Firstfruits. We are now to obey, vide Mt 9:37: "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;" as those who bring in the harvest of souls to the Lord.

  • Mishael on Marriage Divorce Rapture on 1 Peter 2 - 5 years ago
People need to DATE at least a year before even thinking about Joining lives. Marriages fail because you don't know anything about each other. A baby will NOT repair a limping marriage. The child will suffer a lifetime.

I wish just once Dr Phil (who is a Christian) would teach Bible perspective on dating, deciding whether or not to marry, saving a pile of money for the wedding so you don't have go into a black hole to pay for it. Be compatible intimately without sex.

The Bible teaches about being UNEQUALLY YOKED. You can't pull a wagon if ones a horse and the other is a "different animal" like a camel.

God performed the first marriage with Adam and Eve. I think He meant us to enter into it seriously without escape options. 1 Corinthians chapter 7 is the best place to get pre-marriage counseling.

Look what Jesus, the Bridegroom; has gone through for His Bride.

Mentioning the Rapture (Caught Up), Jesus is NOT going to suffer His Bride to wait for Mid or Post Tribulation!!! Use a little common sense. What is Jesus Like?! He went through all the Hard Stuff so His Bride doesn't have to. There is no male, female gender involved here.

If we are truly BORN AGAIN, there is nothing to be afraid of. Be full of the Holy Spirit and be WATCHING for Jesus! How hard is that ?!? He's coming from heaven to MEET us in the CLOUDS!

God is fond of clouds. Read Job again and underline all the cloud scriptures. Almost every day almost, He gives us unique, always different sunsets. How often do you look at them? Do you see a rainbow and just think..hmmm or wow!

Verse 29-20: these men did not merely wander from the faith. They made a purposeful choice to reject a clear conscience, and the result was a destruction of their spiritual lives. Their faith was shipwrecked. They were teaching that the resurrection of the dead had already happened, which was untrue.

Hymenaeus is also mentioned in 2 Timothy 2:16-18: "But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, and their talk will spread like canker. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus.

You were right to ask about this. Whatever is taught in church needs to be investigated by you in your Bible.

Carl, I agree that God knows all things - if He didn't, He wouldn't be the God that the Bible reveals to us.

No, I didn't say that "God did not know that Satan was (not?) going into the garden". I said, "that God didn't put Satan there". There's a difference between knowing & putting/inviting. God knows all things, but in this instance, as with Job, God didn't cause (or invite) that action to be performed.

God has control over everything, but does He intrude into our choices, even Satan's? Yes, God allowed Satan to "attack Job". But did God put Satan there or even invited him to do what he (Satan) wanted? The Scripture tells us that Satan instigated the desire to test Job & God gave him permission, albeit with a caveat.

"Why did God let Satan tempt Eve". Sure, God could have prevented this happening, simply by stopping Satan from getting close to her (them). How long would this have lasted? Ok, so maybe by doing this, they would remain innocent, but to their descendants, would Satan not try again to cause mankind to rebel & sin against God? Or, do you feel that God should be able to stop Satan from pursuing this evil act against every human in all generations?

In this temptation to Adam & Eve, I see that God made us "in His image, after His likeness", unlike His other creation. What does this tell us about these distinctive godly qualities in man? We can think, reason, choose, communicate, etc. With those godly traits, I see God would allow man to avail them for whatever purpose he chose. But since they were innocent, obviously the demonstration of those traits would have been in wholesome purity & godliness. If another comes along to change all that (e.g. Satan), it is still the same trait that would also be exercised towards him. Unfortunately, for them & us, they chose wrongly. But God in His great Design, had a rescue Plan.

  • Chris - In Reply on 2 Chronicles 10 - 5 years ago
Andrea, I can see how the comment is difficult to understand. Going over it again & again, I have to assume that Davies is stating that God is aloof from His Creation. That it is up to us to do the right things in life, according to his commandments. That regeneration of the spirit is unnecessary. Though there are elements of truth/reality there, the basic assumption of living a good life is our responsibility without the need for God's intervention. So, his comment is simply based on his perceptions & not biblically based. And the Bible clearly states, that unless we are born again, we cannot see the Kingdom of God ( Jn 3:3).

To restate, I've always been a firm post-Tribber, even to the disappointment of my former Fellowship ('80/'90s), but in my studies (as from my comments here), I'm convinced that God's dealing with the world (both now & in the end times) must be distinct for each family: whether the family of God or the family of Satan.
