    Dear, Brother Herman

Abba in Romans 8:25 is Aramaic . Aramaic is a ancient language that was used in Assyrians, Babylonians, Chaldeans, Arameans, Hebrews, and Arabs.

My church teaches that Jesus died on a Friday and rose on Sunday Amen

Victor James Chapter 1 says to ask for understanding from the Lord.

However let us read the account of what happened as to why they wanted Jesus to leave.

Matthew 8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

the people of the area seemed well acquainted with these possessed of devils and were afraid of them.

29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

The town lost their unclean food supply and likely were shocked at the sudden change of behavior in the swine that seemed to have committed suicide rather than be possessed with devils.

33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

Maybe they were unhappy with their losing their food supply and / or were deathly afraid that Jesus had power over the devils as they were familiar with the 2 men who were possessed. The unsaved are frightened by the spirit world. So they asked Jesus to leave....

In v.16 it says the lg., breadth & ht. of heaven are =. Is the ht. a mistake? In v.17 it says the wall is 144 cubits, is this thick. or ht or both since a wall has both & I suppose we assume it goes around heaven. Is 12,000 fur. the total dist. around the wall; if so, then heaven has about 141,000 sq. mi. of land which is about 1/2 the size of Texas & if 1/2 the land is used for housing & everyone in heaven lived in 2000 sq.ft. houses/ 5 persons per house on lots of 3,000 sq.f.t each, then heaven could house about 33,000,000 people. This would free up the remaining 1/2 of land for churches, golf courses, beaches, parks, nature trails & shopping malls--almost forgot ,& football stadiums.

Greetings Timothy If the leaders demand we disobey a command of the Lord we are to disobey them. Example the Hebrew midwives at the time of Moses commanded the male children be killed and they disobeyed him as recorded in

Exodus Chapter 1:15 And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:

16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

18 And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

19 And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women [are] not as the Egyptian women; for they [are] lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

Yet in Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Rome was evil and Yet Jesus said to pay their taxes as an example to us:

Matthew 22:17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute (Taxes) unto Caesar, or not?

19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.

20 ... Whose image is this?..

Matthew 22:21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

I appreciate your well thought out reply Carlos. Your conclusion made me think this of this verse: 1 John 5:7 'For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word(Jesus), and the Holy Ghost: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE.' It seems to me that you didn't need any theology to reach your conclusion. The answers were in God's Word, as they always are!

The word says in various forms we are to choose our leaders that are GOD FEARING and we are to be subservient to those leaders. Does the Bible say what the individual believer's responsibility is with respect to dishonest NON-GOD-FEARING leaders.

I will praise and thank the Lord every day, through Jesus, who called us by name, and through whose Love and Mercy we are saved. We each fall short every day by doing the things we are called not to do and by not doing the things we are called to do. We are to love The Lord our God with all our heart, all our strength and with everything we do. We are also to love our neighbours as ourselves. To look to God for his plan for our life's and serve him first and others second. I am thankful every day that God, through Jesus, has called me, my husband, our sons and our family members by name and who has saved us. praise God from whom all blessings flow. Thank you Lord for your love and mercy!

The way to comprehend and believe all this is to believe that God can do anything because He is the Almighty God, the Creator who created all things, and the only one who has the power to do anything. Don't try to answer these questions or figure this out from a carnal or human standpoint because everything about God is spiritual. That is why Jesus said in John 4:24, "God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." God can be fully man, as Jesus, and fully God, as the Superior Being and Almighty One because He is God. Please read what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:9 -14, that is if you believe the Bible. Jesus came to this world to bring us back to God and to introduce us to the ways of God. He also came to put us back in right standing with God, and it is our faith in Him (Jesus Christ) and what He has done for us that God will receive. I am so glad that I have given my life to Jesus Christ, and I know that the Father hath received me and given me eternal live because of my faith in His Son. I pray that you have or will do the same. The Father and Jesus are one, and while Jesus was here on earth, He pointed us to the Father because His mission was to do the will of the Father and to help everyone to understand that the Father is the author of it all, and that He has given us His name which is Jesus and it the name that is above every name in this world and also the world to come. So stop trying to figure it out with your natural mind and place your trust in Jesus Christ ( Romans 10: 9-13), and God by the power of His Holy Spirit will give you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in how to trust Him and His plan for your life as well as all those who would dare to trust and receive Him. I believe that the God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and He has proven His Himself to us in all three categories because He has the power to do it all. I pray that you will put your faith in Him. I hope to see you in heaven!

In Micah ch 1 we are told he spoke to Judah & Samaria (Northern Israel). But in chapter 2 & 3 Micah uses the name of Jacob to identify his audience. Interesting, because the correct names would be Judah & Israel - but Judah means "Praise", which belongs to God. And Israel means "Prince of God", so both names give honour to God. Jacob was the 'father,s' name before it was changed to Israel ( Genesis 32). Jacob means "Trickster". So in the use of the names we are being told that the punishment was due to the nation forgetting God, using cunning in worshipping idols, & not giving true PRAISE to the One who called them His people, nor living as PRINCES of God.

Let us lean from their mistakes.

Steve, yes, we must take care with all of the blessings we have from God and give thanks daily for His many blessings. But what does driving cars have to do with covid 19?

While it is practical and conservative to keep your personal and collective environment as clean as possible; SIN is the real pollutant! We are not only guilty of sin, but great sins such as blasphemy, abortion and sodomy, which God has called evil, mankind has called good! God will not be mocked!!

Do not doubt that this earth will remain as long as it serves HIS purposes. This should give you comfort! If the covid crisis brings more fish to the net...I say Hallelujah!!

No. We're not told when that time of the Rapture of the Church will take place, but that Christians should be watchful & living careful lives. John in 1 Jn 3:2,3 speaks of the time when Jesus appears, we shall be changed to be like Him. And that everyone has this hope in him (i.e. looking for His Coming & our being with Him forever), purifies Himself (i.e. by dwelling on this wonderful event to come & as such living each day for Him).

"Why does evil exist, if God is Love?" I'm not sure that there is any connection between the two, because IF that would be the case, then a loving God, to prove His Love & protect His creation, would have to annihilate any design or act of evil that would oppose that love. Thus any attempt at doing evil will be immediately thwarted. Yet, since evil does exist, & God is Love, there must be a part of that Love that permits evil to continue & it can't be that evil was in God's Plan for the entrance of man & His Christ, as that would then compromise His Holy Being, that of Love.

But if we say, 'but God cannot create evil but planned for its inception into the world', then we're back to the first point, why should God bother with creating everything, all things becoming corrupted, sending His Son to redeem us & restoring the world to what it should have been? Here, I think that the first suggestion would fit well: that God should have just annihilated evil at its root & saved everyone a lot of bother.

Carlos, our thread has been locked again, so am sending my comment as a New one. Trust you saw my other comments sent in a similar way (over a day ago).

"I don't mean to diminish the fact God deserves and gets Glory, Exaltation, etc." Sorry, your statement confused me as you say that God deserves our praise & love, yet in your comment to Adam you mentioned that He doesn't need it. If He doesn't need it, then I wonder, in your understanding, what does God do with all the praise, worship & love that goes up to Him. In human terms, if I am given something but feel that I don't need it (i.e. consider it of little use to me & therefore it's either shelved or given away to someone who might make better use of it), would that be similar to what you're thinking? If so, then is God one Who receives these offerings, but since they don't affect Him in any way, He remains unmoved by them? Or, maybe you mean that any offerings coming to Him doesn't affect His Character in any way & Who He is.

"What I would like to get at is what the Bible reveals about What God created us for in that Love. There's a persistent question people ask. That is, if God, why evil? Perhaps this is too philosophical, but it is important. Why does evil exist, if God is Love? The notion that we have Choice or Free Will, isn't enough." I can't add anymore to what has already been said to, "why did God, in His Love, create us?" I realize that your understanding that we were the means for His Son to enter the world & give his life for us, & there is truth there, but why indeed were we created.

Believing Jesus is the Son of God, that He was born of a virgin (Mary), that He died on the cross for our sins, and rose on the 3rd day, that we can be saved. This is what saved us, not being baptized, baptism is an outward showing that we are now Christians and we are living our life for Christ Jesus.
  • Chris - In Reply on Leviticus 10 - 5 years ago
Crystal, the Old Testament command to tithe was given to Israel to bring the tenth of the increase of their produce or cattle to the Lord or for special purposes ( Deut 26:12). Most of them had very little by way of money as they acquired their needs by trading what they could from off the land. When people began to do less farming & more by way of jobs & earned money, they started giving money or other valuables ( Lk 21:1-4). Today, we generally give money (not necessarily a tithe, but generously as from a willing heart ( 2 Cor 9:7)) as this is what we earn, though I suppose a farmer could still bring a gift from his farm to the Church; though not sure how the Pastor would receive the grain or sheep. But that is still possible & acceptable I would think.
  • CARLOS RAMIREZ TREVINO - In Reply on Ruth 1:22 - 5 years ago
Thank you for your response, Chris. That was Really enlightening! You've pointed out a truth that gives us a lot to think about. I couldn't agree more. Love is one, if not the most significant characteristic or attribute of God. Were it not for His love, where would we be. I don't mean to diminish the fact God deserves and gets Glory, Exaltation, Recognition, Praise, Thanks, Appreciation for whom He is and what He has done. Ephe 2:4-10 says:

"But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved! And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life."

But isn't His Love married to Wisdom and Righteousness? In Prov 3:19, we see that, "The LORD founded the earth by wisdom and established the heavens by understanding." And 8:17-23, "I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.... The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was."

Prov 8 is generally accepted as a description of Christ. Clearly, everything God does is motivated by Love. But Love with Wisdom and Justice.

What I would like to get at is what the Bible reveals about What God created us for in that Love. There's a persistent question people ask. That is, if God, why evil? Perhaps this is too philosophical, but it is important. Why does evil exist, if God is Love? The notion that we have Choice or Free Will, isn't enough.
