There is a heresy running around that the Holy Spirit is female called the SHEkinah or the glory of God.
The word SHEkinah is nowhere in the Bible. So they claim God the Father and the Holy Spirit had a child the Son of God.
The King James clearly calls the Holy Spirit HE
John 16:13 Howbeit when HE he, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE he will guide you into all truth: for HE he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever HE he shall hear, that shall HE he speak: and HE he will shew you things to come.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, HE he shall testify of me:
My research as to where this female spirit thing comes from is those involved in the so called "Hebrew roots" movement that claims the King James Bible is mistranslated by pagan Greeks and is generally anti-Semitic in nature.
They are the ones pushing the Yeshua instead of Jesus name.
The main group that I can find with this SHEkinah thing is the Chabad Lubavitch group that claim they are practicing Judaism. Their main book is the Zohar, not the scriptures. The follow what is called Kabbalah which came from Babylon.
The Hollywood celebs, like Madonna, wear red strings to ward off evil spirits are into this stuff.
Look into this everyone I am not making this up. This is who many claim to be the chosen people.
Chabad Lubavitch Kabbalah followers are the ones wearing the black clothes with the curls of hair hanging down.
2 Peter 2:13 And shall receive the REWARD reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
Writing of Judas Acts 1:18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. (his pieces of silver for betraying Christ)
2 Timothy 4:14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
This is not a good reward.
Then there are the rewards for the just in faith.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Revelation 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
Jesus speaks in Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
The prophets were the (major in size) writings of those like Jeremiah, Isaiah, etc.
The Minor (in size) prophets were those like Amos, Jonah, Micah, etc.
Someone asked Jesus what was the most important or great commandment.
Matthew 22:36 - Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Mat 22:37 - Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 - This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 - And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40 - On these two commandments hang ALL the law and the prophets.
In other words if you keep the two commandments you keep them all.
Well that and believing that Jesus is Christ
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Until you can differentiate between human love/human faith, and the faith/love that the bible speaks of, we probably are not going to agree with each other on this one. What I am trying to tell you is that the faith and love that the bible speaks of is produced only by God's Spirit. No matter how hard we try, we cannot produce that type of faith or that type of love. So when we are volunteering to love God, or if our faith is voluntary, God will not accept that because it's not of His Spirit, but of our own human effort. You can call it free will if you want, but it doesn't change the fact that it is you doing it out of your own human effort, volunteering to love God. And He will not accept that. I think if my children were to tell me that they were volunteering to love me, that would be heartbreaking. To me, that wouldn't be genuine love. I'm just trying to help you out here!
Do you think that God will accept our faith and love toward Him if it's voluntary faith and love? If I volunteer to put my faith in God and I volunteer to love God, that's not the faith and love that the bible speaks of. To volunteer to do something takes human effort, and I don't believe that our human effort pleases God at all. Do you know that there are two types of faith, and two types of love? God only accepts one of the two. If we volunteer to love Him and volunteer to put our faith in Him, He's not going to accept that one.
it repeats three times.
In my personal, unproven, and non-biblical opinion, I think we were made for His glory and enjoyment and that when we voluntarily with free will and faith choose to Love God and obey Him that it is a pleasure to Him. Perhaps it's like being a parent and if your kids voluntarily tell you they love you and you 100% know it's real, that you didn't coerce them to say that, and that they're not a puppet or robot under your own control. God didn't make robots. It's more meaningful if people voluntarily choose to love.
Your other point was does God have a need to feel good about Himself? Probably not, but doing something that feels good doesn't automatically mean you're insecure about it or NEED it.
The Bible does indicate God does have human-like emotions/feelings, however, like Deuteronomy 32:16. And we're made in His likeness, which may include feelings.
The only works we really need to do, is working on ourselves to be as Jesus teaches. When we work on ourselves we then reflect better who God wants us to become. We'll slip and backslide and when we do, we'll feel ashamed and guilt and like we let Jesus down and we'll repent. We won't abuse Grace and we won't say Grace is a free pass to be a jerk.
Jesus says to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and I struggle with that. I screw up 40-50 times a day in my head, with judging, and selfish thoughts. I'm saved because Jesus loves me and you and even those we don't like I have Trust in that, and when I read Revelations it's not scary to me. I don't dread it. For me, it's a slow growth. But, I'm not the same as I used to be. Because God has pulled me from my "pits." God and Jesus did something we couldn't do. Or, wouldn't do. Keep reading, keep asking questions, and think about the answers, don't be swayed by a person's personal agenda. Jesus came from Heaven to find you (us). He wants us to be with him. Which is sometimes hard to believe because we know how rotten we are. We can quote the bible with spiritual vanity, but it's not by our hands but by Faith and Trust in what Jesus did for us in living and dying and rising for us. And, Faith in God's plan for the World. The World, of past people, current people and for people not even born. It's overwhelming and crazy sounding. But, that's Faith that it's true.
Are you asking this because you honestly do not know the answer? Or, are you asking for a different reason or motive? I have nothing more to add other than He created all things for His glory. That's about as deep as I feel comfortable going.
