Hello, it sounds like you feel frustrated about how you perceive God. Why do you assume God doesn't care, though? Did God not give mankind freewill and the right to do good and evil from the beginning of time? And did Adam and Eve not deliberately choose to sin and have the curse be on the earth (thorns, childbearing pains, struggle, etc)? Is life not extremely short and a test? Are we not all going to die soon regardless? So, does the timing of that death really determine whether one thinks God is 'good' or not? Those who are angry at God for disease, are they equally grateful to God for their life, family, health? Or just 1-sided entitlements? Why is God allowing things to happen "bad"?

It sounds like you're referring to 2 Corinthians 5:8 in which Paul says he would 'willing rather' or would rather... be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. He didn't say that everyone upon death is instantly with the Lord and skips judgment or that the dead don't rise to meet Jesus in the clouds. Instead he said would 'rather' be with the Lord. Other verses that say that we will each first face a day of Judgment. 1 Corinthians 4:5 says Jesus will come, then everyone will be judged upon the judgment seat of Christ 2 Corinthians 5:10, and dead will rise to meet the Lord 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.

Our modern day evangelical churches are all preaching we are saved by faith alone and not works. This is not true. The whole theme of the New Testament tells a different story. We must be holy and live righteously. The early Christians taught this and it is everywhere in the scriptures. If our lives look like the rest of the world we are lost.

It don't matter what you think, it matters what God's word says. It matters what you think when you're inline with God's word. You're out of line In what I've read. Do you know Jesus by works or by faith? He who believes in him is not condemned. How do you know Jesus? Who sent Jesus? The Father. Who sent Peter to Cornelius? God. Cornelius was Gentile. Read the book of Acts and all the epistles. Read John 3:16. If you're a believer all things have passed away. You're a new creature. There is no Jew or Gentile according to the flesh. Good for you for being an encouragement to others- a light in a dark world is what we're called to be. Believing is usually a matter of the heart, not necessarily intellectual arguments. So, I would pray for him and just show love as a Christian would to others. When people see that light and your joy they will become curious and maybe open their heart to learning about Jesus.
