"A way of escape from active war duties". I think conscientious objection has always been allowed by governments, at least those in democratic societies & who are allied to others (e.g. NATO). It still had to be proved that one was indeed objecting for conscience-sake, & not to dodge the draft. I was in line to be drafted in Aust., but the war in Vietnam was near its end, with troop withdrawals commencing. I nevertheless opted to join the Air Force in administrative duties: dodging the draft (Conscription, as referred to here), & a self-guarantee that I don't have to kill anyone. I don't think they clearly defined the difference between an objector by conscience & a pacifist. It seemed to be one & the same. The line would be very thin in their reckoning, not caring about any biblical injunctions in that regard.

Thank you again brother Carleton for engaging our minds in that direction & to consider our stand before God & Country.

    In Isaiah 14:13-14,

How many times did Lucifer (Satan) say,

    "I WILL"?

Satan knows the Bible better than we do. Yet he still believes He will beat Jesus at Armageddon.

Thank you brother for sharing those worthy & compelling thoughts. I think of Matthew 5:38-42, & specifically, "resist not evil", or, 'don't respond with the same evil that was dispensed to you'. This has been one of those instructions that have troubled many believers, as it cuts across the boundaries of responding offensively to a challenging & dangerous situation and defending oneself (or, another), which may require meting out 'evil'. I believe that when we are close to the Lord, walking daily in the Spirit, then all situations we face are under His Gaze & Control. If to be harmed is our lot, then He will give us Grace to stand with joy (remember martyr Stephen) or the Lord can even alter the course of another's evil intent.

If I could share a personal encounter whilst doing tract & book distribution in a shopping area in Karachi, Pakistan back in 1989. One young Muslim cleric took exception to our work, screaming at me & taking me by the throat. Crowds gathered to see what would transpire while he took centre stage. In giving God the Glory in sharing this now, I stood there & calmly took in his hate-filled gaze, all the while the Lord kept me in peace, to not retaliate, with Proverbs 15:1 controlling my thoughts: "a soft answer turneth away wrath". He finally let go but followed my fellow-brother & myself out of the area. I asked the Lord to hold his eyes from seeing our van, as if our licence plate was made known to the police, this would jeopardize our work there. We crossed the street towards our van & we turned about face to see the man - he was still there on the other side looking around for us, but he couldn't see us - we were in plain sight without any obstacles. He finally left while we stood there, probably perplexed how we could disappear from his view so suddenly. To God be the Glory when we trust Him with our lives & even if evil befall us, we can remain joyous in being in His Will & for His great Love to us.

Yes the word "be" is italicized
  • Chris - In Reply on Romans 13 - 4 years ago
Thank you Rick for that explanation & I've tried to read those verses accordingly. However, Paul's phraseology & general context, even in verse 7, just doesn't allow me to entertain that interpretation. We'll have to leave it that & allow others who want to read & meditate on this passage, decide whether it speaks of Church leaders or governmental heads. Blessings.

    GRACE_ambassador,

I thought instead of just putting out my understanding to Sangeeth Joseph question, I would list a few questions for study on this thought on end times. Prophecy vs Mystery how does that fit. I'm not sure I follow, I know prophecy mostly is on the house of Israel and for Israel will come to fulfillment in the 1000 years when Jesus sets up the kingdom here on earth.

But there are prophecies about the end time that will affect individuals, not nations, that are still living when it starts. Some teaching could have some unprepared and may be devastating to someone's faith, I do not take that as vain or unprofitable 2 Timothy 2:15 it was not a question of salvation.

We know the mystery and the promise in Genesis 22 when Abraham did not withhold his son to sacrifice him. All nations would be blessed through his seed and this was not revealed until after Israel rejected the Messiah Jesus when He first came was only for the house of Israel to confirm the covenant and fulfill it, and the kingdom of God had come, but they rejected it. The gospel of Christ was then given to the Gentiles by Paul, which is the mystery. One of the reasons was to make Israel jealous. Did you know Paul was not the first to preach Christ to the Gentiles?

I will study the link you put out, not sure if I follow how it relates to what I posted, maybe after I study it I will see.

    God bless,

Good afternoon friend, In a vision as a young man while working, I stood beside the Lamb of God where a voice thundered asking if this is what I was looking for. It has taken nearly thirty years to realize that I also saw the mystery which was and is and is to come, a complete non- resistance to the Father in a visible and Holy Body. However many Saints before died in grace of this knowledge, by faith and the mystery like other prophecy has been already revealed.

  • Choose Life . - 4 years ago
Ok , so the angels who left their first estate are obviously Adam and Eve . If the Bible gives us all the answers then who else in the Bible could it be except Adam and Eve getting kicked out of Eden for sinning . The tree of life is the New covenant of life through Christ . The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is science . Knowing how this world works . Our desire to know how everything was made and how it and us work . The day of temptation is coming . We will have to choose between trusting in science/ human understanding / knowledge and God . Who do we trust God or man . Faith or science . Get ready to have to make that choice . Choose life . Choose love . Choose God . We are Adam and Eve . We will have to choose . Let's not make the same mistake .

Yes, in this verse "circle" = sphere. If it was flat it likely would have said the "flat of the earth," but it doesn't.

2 easy experiments you can do yourself within 2 days will confirm the earth is round.

    1. Buy a ticket and fly from where you are around the world- go west or east and you will end up at your point of origin. Countless travelers do this. Ever day people are collectively flying around the world, but it will take you a couple of days. You can either watch the landscape yourself or put your phone with GPS location on and track where you are on the globe the whole time. I've done this, have you? If you discover that you do in fact return to your original location, would you then apologize to others you might have mislead on this forum? And if you find the 'end of the earth' can you please take a picture of it and post that online, because of the billions of people who have travelled all directions around the earth, and the thousands of satellites orbiting, no one has ever taken such a picture. Also, we can see moons and planets with our own eyes and there's all round too, so it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch, plus God said it was round in this verse.

    2. If earth was flat, all the shadows would be the same in all parts of the world at the same time. This is easily disproven by measuring the length of the shadow in each place simultaneously. This has already been done of course, but you can find out for yourself by asking people in different locations on the phone, or web cam, or streaming video. There's already live streaming in each city around the world you can check and measure shadow angles. If a surface was flat, then everywhere would have the same shadow and the same time of dusk and sunrise, but that's not the case.

There are a lot of conspiracies and lies in the world, but the earth being round like the Bible says is not one of them. God bless...

    Andrew,

In verse 19, Jesus said to baptize in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. The reason why all three of the Godhead are mentioned here is because the Jews actually immersed or baptized three times. We do it once. But the Jews would dunk three times for baptism. They didn't know why. But Jesus is saying that when you immerse three times, one is in the name of the Father, one's in the name of the Son, and one is in the name of the Holy Spirit.

Around the year 316 A.D., Constantine changed it. He said that if that's the way the Jews do it, and if that's the way Jesus told them to do it, then we are only going to immerse once, just to be different.

So we dunk once in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And the Jews dunk three times. But that's why Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is used here. When you go to the book of Acts, they baptized in the name of Jesus. So now we have this big battle of the baptisms, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, or "Jesus name only?" But you see, one is Jewish, and one is Gentile!

Your covenant relationship is with your first husband. If you knew not the LORD when you first married and divorced, the sin was covered in the blood at your point of understanding. It would not be for you to divorce your next husband to go back. However if that relationship was no more, it would be better that you reconcile with your first husband than to continue on in sin. I pray this was helpful to you.

    Sangeeth Joseph,

Prophecy has been interpreted by misunderstandings and assumptions. It has been misheard and many false teachings have people looking for things that are not coming. Prophecy shows that God is in ultimate control.

When studying prophecy, God's word (scripture) the Holy Spirit is the interpreter we are not. Prophecy is generally understood after it has been fulfilled, it confirms the word of God and the prophet is of God.

If we have decided the answer by the teachings we have been taught, or other opinions before we have gone to the Bible in prayer for the facts and truth, the only things we will see in scripture will line up with the conclusion we have already come to. Where did the seven years in this teaching come from? Has the 70-weeks in Daniel been fulfilled already Daniel 9:24-27? Is the rapture (catching up or away) 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 the same as the resurrection, the day of redemption? Is the great tribulation the same as the wrath of God? Is our blessed hope, to be spared great tribulation? How about all the martyrs before us, are we more worthy?

Does scripture tell us our destination after we meet Jesus in the air? Is there any scripture that says we will be taken or we go to heaven? Are there other scriptures that tell us it will be after the great tribulation? Does scripture tell us every eye shall see Jesus coming?

These are just a few questions, I hope you take them out of love for study and are not offensive. I could tell you what I believe but if it is different, will not help. Pray and let the Holy Spirit lead you to the truth. It will not be overnight and some questions will never be answered. Your question is the covid shot the mark of the beast, it is not. When that happens Satan is permanently cast down and the beast and the false prophet are full throttles. The mark will be based on worship, whoever will take it will know what they are doing.

We are told to study and to try the spirits.

    God bless,

    Hope,

In Luke 4:4, the devil was appealing to Jesus' condition. He knew that Jesus was physically hungry from the 40 day fast and in verse 3 he was appealing to Jesus to make the stones turn to bread so that Jesus could satisfy His physical desire. Jesus says that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Wow! Yes, but you are hungry, physically hungry. But what an answer that Jesus gives.

I can look back and remember many times when I was either late or didn't show up someplace because I hadn't eaten yet. What is another hour? What is another two hours? But it is interesting that Jesus said no, you don't misuse the authority of God to fulfil the desires of the flesh, even though the desires of the flesh are going through its natural process. No food!

In Job 23:12, one of my favorite verses, Job says "Neither have I gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have esteemed the words of His mouth more than my necessary food."

Wow! God's word means more to me than my necessary food. Notice that he didn't say abundant food? He said it is my necessary food. God's word means more to me. Those words that come out of His mouth, I am more hungry for that than I am for physical food. So Satan challenges, and Jesus gives the citation.

Why are we not now - in the present, living out Isaiah 11:6-9? - Which tells us that the coming Kingdom will be free of harm. Isaiah 65:25, Hosea 2:18, Ezekiel 34:25, Romans 14:17.

Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.

It seems to me there is absolutely no reason to slaughter any sentient beings other than to fill our stomachs with rotting flesh. This practice does not paint a picture of the peaceable kingdom in the garden of Eden. Animal husbandry is barbaric-inhumane-void of compassion.

"Compassion, in which all ethics must take root, can only attain its full breadth and depth if it embraces all living creatures and does not limit itself to mankind." Albert Schweitzer

"I believe in my heart that faith in Jesus Christ can and will lead us beyond an exclusive concern for the well being of other human beings to the broader concern for the well-being of the birds in our backyard, the fish in our rivers, and every living creature on the face of the earth." John Wesley, Christian Theologian.

"I am persuaded you are not insensible to the pain given to every Christian, every humane heart, by those savage diversions, bull-baiting, cock-fighting, horse-racing, and hunting." John Wesley

In Genesis 9:3 God gave Noah the permission to eat animal flesh. This was a concession to man's sinfulness. But when you look at the verse in it's context, it is clear that God is only grudgingly giving humans this permission. "Vegetarianism practiced in the Garden of Eden ( Gen. 1:29-30, 2:16), and the prophecy that natural predators will live together peacefully in the future (Is 11:6-8), suggest that the eating of animal flesh isn't God's ideal." Part 1 OR: Baptism Of Repentance for the remission of sins?

Precious friend, Of course the 'Confusion lies in interpreting/Changing Isolated' verses, and Ignoring the Whole Of Scripture, and, Also in Not "Rightly Dividing God's Word Of Truth, 'Approved' Unto Him! 2 Timothy 2:15

You have an opinion: "Imo, Acts 2:38 would have been much better understood, and served God and the world better if it were interpreted as:

'Then Peter said unto them, Repent for the remission of sins, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.'"

Now, this 'interpretation/CHANGE opinion' presents The 'Same problem As Changing' God's Plain Word in Mark 16:16 :

"He that believeth AND is baptized shall be saved"

There is NO NEED to "interpret/CHANGE" God's Plain and Clear Word. When, 'Left in its Context,' IT "Stands As IT IS WRITTEN!" This is Also CONFIRMED in Luke 7:29-30!

Full study in Part II will further 'Confirm' This, According To The Word Of God, Rightly Divided!

Please Be 'Richly' Encouraged, Enlightened, Exhorted, And Edified In JESUS CHRIST, And, In HIS Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided!!

I believe the 10 virgins parable.as inbe ready and looking for Jesus every moment.

Be a watchman of Matthew 24 and Luke 21.

Perceive Birth Pains. Starts off slow. Events speed up. It's painful to witness the signs of the times speeding up. The sheer amount of population, clueless, as to why life is becoming jaded, and unable to discern that events are becoming harder to bear. Kind of like how our government is becoming more oppressive every day; the earth is hemorrhaging in floods, storms, earthquakes, fires, volcanos; very very hot or much too cold. The discomfort of labor increases to Intolerable!! Second stage continues until birth.

We can discern that transition is imminent, by what is happening in the world.

If we act like ostriches any put our heads in the sand (acting like nothing is wrong or blaming it on global warming) we will not see Jesus COMING IN THE CLOUDS.

If you scripture search that phrase "Coming in the Clouds", it gives us more info on Jesus's Arrival.

I believe we will clearly see the beginnings of Tribulation Happenings. We see them now. One being, Israel being surrounded by her enemies. The Third Temple in Jerusalem being built. That's happening. You can view the progress on YouTube or Google, every day. Israel will swap land to have full access to all of the Temple Mount.

This presidency has withdrawn financial and military protection to Israel; and our nation is being invaded by foreign nations. A curse ( Genesis 12:1-3) ( Leviticus 26)

Only people who are good sign readers are not going to sleep their way through these final moments of earths history, and the reality of the Tribulation to advance in terror and pain.

See the Signs! Look Up! Your Redemption draws Closer!

There's a YouTube site that people all over the planet send them videos of daily disasters In their country. "The Two Preachers" , go have a look.

Good morning/evening Brother Chris, that grace, peace and love can be multiplied in our short walk to Jerusalem by the knowledge of the living Word. Non- resistance is it not the essence of the Gospel and life of our Savior? The presentation of Jesus as the Lamb of God is awe inspiring. That God selected the meekest man to handle the Word of God. The presenter of the Gospel handles the Word of God within and without in meekness, in love and mercy and in non- resistance. Non-resistance the life there of is not for another day (time) nor another people it is today if our hearts stay soft at the Cross. God has always made away for the meek to inherit the earth while time remains.

Not many weeks back, certain lower high school educated Christian brothers were asked to a meeting by the US Selective Service to state their beliefs on non- resistance vs pacifism and how those beliefs include not participating in war activities and how they could offer alternative service to their own young men and soon women and possibly others in the event of a draft to war. It was explained to these brethren that there is a line in the Government provisions to make a way of escape from active war duties for the truly non- resistant professing Christians and Christians that are more involved in active participation in government policies that are against war, they named these people pacifists which may have to do limited war duties.

We think of God's great Providence making a way for the Christian to live and teach the Gospel. So here is a superpower country making provision and protection for non-resistant believers to live. Freedom from fear is apart of this doctrine and life of Jesus Christ in non-resistance.

Can Grace and peace and love can be multiplied in the earth now? Yes is the answer, by faith there is away of escape where meekness may rule in earth.

Thank you Brother Chris for your steadfastness in faith.

Thank you, T. Levis for the verses.

Revelation 20:12-15 is an interesting set of verses and its meaning/knowledge depends on the interpretation of the keywords of:

    1. Verse 12. "The DEAD, small and great" - I see this as meaning those that are non-believers only because the believers, other than those saved during the millennium, are already in heaven at the gathering of the church by Christ.

    2. Verse 13. "The sea" - These words are used in the following two verses to indicate the lost mass of humanity:

    Matthew 13:47-50.

    Matthew 4:18-20.

    3. Revelation 20:5. "The rest of the dead lived not again" - clearly a reference to the non-believers as the remaining dead would have to be those not gathered by Christ in the clouds. These dead are dead throughout the millennium.

Again, thank you for your response and the verses provided.
