Monica, first you need to recognize that this is spiritual warfare EPHESIANS 6:12. I know this because the Bible says God will not leave you or forsake you.

The devil is the father of lies and he would love you to accuse God and let go of your faith. Remember for example how satan deceived Eve in the garden.

God is merciful and not willing that any should perish. His mercies are brand new every morning, like the sunrise!

If you have not been living right and are being chastised by the Lord that's a good thing. Repent and renew your relationship with Jesus Christ.

Rebuke the lies of the enemy. He knows that God will never leave you or forsake you. They are lying spirits. Remember that God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son to save us.

Thank and praise Him for that. He's a good good Father who loves you!

Please do not let satan cause you to declare these accusations against the Lord. Ask God to forgive you.

I went through this too awhile back when I was seeking restoration. I had to encourage myself with scripture. God doesn't give up on His children. That contradicts His character. Think about that.

We're living in the last days and we've got to encourage one another to cling to the Lord with everything we've got.

Here are some scriptures to memorize. Write them on index cards and tape them to your cabinets, walls, etc. Keep them in front of your eyes!

    Genesis 3:1-4

    John 8:44

    Deuteronomy 31:6-8

    Ephesians 6:12

    Hebrews 13:5

    Hebrews 4:16

As for anxiety and depression, they are spiritual. Ask God to show you how to defeat them in the spirit. How to overcome. You are not alone most people have battled with these.

Scripture is how Jesus fought the enemy. Remember Ephesians 6:11, put on your armor daily. You must walk in the spirit.

I say these things with much love and to encourage you, my sister in Christ, in Jesus name. You will overcome. Plead the blood of Jesus.

Sybilr, great comment. Yes God created us male and female to be coupled together. The woman as a helpmeet as you have said and to reproduce and replenish the Earth.

    Genesis 3:16

"Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."

    King James Version (KJV)

Our identity in Christ: Male and Female roles; and eternal rewards.

We are told in 1 Timothy 2:9 to the end of the chapter the role of women; and the explanation thereof. The reasoning given is that man was created first; and also Eve was the one who was deceived (and was the first to sin) as an explanation. This is somewhat explained in the result of the fall ( Genesis 3:16) where man would rule over woman but the "desire" would be for the husband. Others have interpreted that as an urge to take control and usurp that authority. Perhaps it means both depending on the submissiveness or lack thereof of the woman.

The further detail here as to who was first created and first sinned adds a somewhat perplexing additional detail here. It would appear that the resulting punishment after the fall was to be contrasted with the original state of man and woman or it wouldn't be mentioned in Genesis as something different. It seems that the continuing status specifically in the church is not only the result of the fall and consequences but because of the original order of the creation and fall involving Adam first; then Eve. I may not have the best answer here as to how it effects church roles. First of all it appears that all animals were named; and they were to be along with the garden something Adam had authority over and care for. This was part of the rulership given to Adam. There may have been other things as well we are not aware of. The fact that Eve was deceived and the first to sin doesn't leave Adam any more innocent. In fact; his deliberate disobedience of God was a sin compounded by the fact that he should have been concerned about what happened to Eve. He deliberately sinned in listening to her voice which in some ways is worse than being deceived; albeit may not have thought about it that way.

NOnetheless in Christ ultimately there is no male or female ( Gal. 3:28) in Christ; and that relates to cultural and racial barriers as well.

    Hi Dante.

You are right in saying God didn't command Adam not to eat of the tree of life, He commanded they couldn't eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil as mentioned here in Genesis 2:16-17.

"And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

But how do we know that they didn't eat of the tree of life BEFORE they disobeyed?

Here's all we have that is written.

Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, THE MAN IS BECOME AS ONE OF US, ((TO KNOW GOOD AND EVIL)): and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Perhaps God forbidden them from eating of the tree of life AFTER their disobedience.

The results of their disobedience is that they knew they were naked and they tried to cover themselves. Now naked is also used throughout scripture to mean " Sin exposed" Here's one of several.

Revelation 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

These garments is the covering of the blood of Christ. "White robes"

Christ was ordained to come into the world before the world began, to be the sacrificial Lamb. For Adam too!

Scipture doesn't say Adam "BECAME" naked after he disobeyed.

Scripture says he KNEW he was naked after he disobeyed.

    See here ;

Genesis 3:10-11 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

And he said, WHO TOLD THEE THAT THOU WAST NAKED? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

I believe the issue is what would he do with that knowledge!

They tried to cover up their guilt and shame with the product of their own efforts. This may have been the first attempt at a works salvation.

    Just my thoughts.

Thanks for your thoughts, Gerald. I'm trying to the way I read and think about Genesis to Genesis itself.

    Regarding the tree of life:

Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

I take from this that it was within Adam's power to eat of the tree of life at any time.

To prevent Adam from eating of the tree, God kicks Adam out of the garden for the express purpose of preventing him from eating from the tree of life:

Genesis 3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, . . .

This seems plain to me, that Adam could have eaten of the tree of life, but had not, and the LORD God decided to prevent him from being able to.

Would you agree Adam could have, but had not, and that the LORD decided to prevent him from eating of the tree?

    Well put Upendo Judith,

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom." that is rooted and grows out of obedience. The first Adam was not obedient to God, but the last Adam was Phil. 2:8 and Rom. 5:19

When the first Adam disobeyed, sin entered with desire and imagination, and with that, man can create in his mind anything, and the imagination of man is evil as we see Gen 6:5 Gen 8:21 Jer. 11:8 we must Rom. 6:16 2 Cor. 10:3-5.

    God bless,

Geneis 2:16: And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

Note, the Tree of Life is in the garden, and man may freely eat thereof.

GENESIS 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Thus, the Lord told ADAM he may not eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge, and in my understanding on that day ADAM would seal his fate with death. But, this was prior to the birth of Eve. The Tree of Life was not forbidden, and also in the Garden. If there were something preventing Adam from eating of that tree, it is not stated, at least at this point. Therefore it is up to individuals to speculate as to the reasons why Adam may not have eaten of the tree of life.

GENESIS 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

GENESIS 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Perhaps, as Adam and Eve are "one", the rules of the Fruit of the tree of knowledge also apply to Eve. For the sake of my view, let us assume that Eve is also bound by the rule applied to Adam prior to her creation.

Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

Importantly, while the only record of God's statement comes prior to God's assertation, Eve is aware of it and feels it applies to her as well.

The word of God is so powerful, there is wisdom which comes through obedience and our relationship with God. Relate to Adam and Eve, man always wants to overtake God's power in creation and as a result is what we are experiencing today. We have created so much evil and the light is shying away from us.

    Let us remind ourselves:

Proverbs 9:10, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

No. The firmament in Genesis chapter 1 has water above and water below .

Which was called heaven . This is not the same " Heaven " of chapter 1:1 . For verse 2 is only speaking of the "earth "

Initially there was a ' sea' above the firmament and below it but those waters broke come the flood .

There is but clouds above the firmament now . For before the flood " it did not rain upon the earth "

Thus this firmament he called " heaven" you have 1 heaven where the birds fly .

You have another ' heaven' where the stars are .For after verse 2 " He made the stars also".

Which is heaven number 2 .

Then you have the first heaven of Genesis 1:1 . " In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth .

It was not heaven that was in darkness but the earth .

For that heaven needs no sun or moon for zGod is the light there of.

    Thus we have 3 heavens.

Not to be confused with Genesis 2 those heavens are the two of " earth "

The third heaven of gen 1"1 is the one Paul speaks of as someone going to "the third heaven" of. Which it was "not lawful to speak of ,"

Yes. Earth is flat and not moving, NASA are liars and work for Satan. The Firmament is above us and above it is water. There is no space at all, we are not circling the sun but the sun is circling us ( Joshua 10:12). There are many many scriptures that show what the Earth really is. Even the Hebrew word for sky, "Shamayim", mean "Water is there".

    Hello Marcell,

I read recently that scientist have found large amounts of water are located across the universe. But outer space is not all water. There is "air" space between planets, solar systems, etc. These spaces do not contain air like in our immediate atmosphere, but they contain photons of light waves.

There is movement due to gravity and also collisions such as asteroids bumping together, there is magnetism and gravity, solar winds. there is "space dust and "star nurseries". I also read that the universe is stretching out (expanding in dimensional space) so this means that objects and collections of objects are moving farther apart.

There are exploding stars (novas and super novas) black holes that transmit an immense amount of energy, quasars, comets, and so much more in space.

And there are billions of stars, planets, and galaxies.

God has a purpose for all of these things. In eternity we will know so much more and be awestruck even more than we are at this time.

    Hi Louis.

Here is just a few of many.

Genesis 3:15. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and ( HER SEED;) it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise ( HIS HEEL.)

    Genesis 22:18.

    Genesis 49:10.

The Passover Lamb of God ( Exodus 12:1-28)

Leviticus teaches the way to God is by sacrifice. JESUS!

Leviticus 17:11. For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

In the book of Leviticus you see a portrait of Christ and his work on the cross. When studying it.

It does well to go back and forward to new testament and present Christ. Especially Hebrews, That picture will paint itself.

    Deuteronomy 18:15.

    Psalms 22.

    Isaiah 7:14.

    Isaiah 9:6-7.

    Micah 5:2.

    Daniel 9:25-26.

    Malachi 3:1.

    I hope this helps.

    God bless.

    You're welcome, Gigi.

We expect Christians to have differences in viewpoints, were only human forever growing in the grace of God, at least we have a common ground and can learn from one another, but when someone denies what is plainly written to form a doctrine by spiritualizing ALL the text to fit their viewpoint, there is seriously something wrong! Especially when the climax of their doctrine deities man to become Gods!

When you see someone hold to such views with no repentance or conviction you begin not to look at the individual but the source behind it.

We find this type of pride in Isaiah 14:12-14. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I WILL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH.

Satan also attacks the word of God as seen here in Genesis 3:4-5. And the serpent said unto the woman, YE SHALL NOT SURELY DIE:

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, "AND YE SHALL BE AS gods", knowing good and evil.

WHAT IS THE POINT IN KNOWING GOOD AND EVIL IF EVIL DOES YOU NO HARM?

LET'S NOT FORGET THIS VIEW THAT IS BEING OFFERED IS NOT SAYING THAT ONLY THOSE WHO GO TO HEAVEN BECOME GODS. THIS VIEW HES PRESENTING IS SAYING ALL MAN KIND IS GOING TO BECOME GODS. THE RIGHTEOUS WHO FOLLOW CHRIST AND THE UNRIGHTEOUS.

Hopefully were not worried about many following that view but what is alarming is one misrepresenting the word of God as something you can't understand literally and the Holyspirit has no role in a believer's life.

    Amen Giannis.

The means by way we enter the Kingdom is one way. And that was preached to all ages starting in Genesis 3:15. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

It also was preached to Abraham.

    Galatians 3:8.

Flesh and blood shall not inherit the kingdom, You have to be born again.

In the old testament teachings they was to look for a savior to come. All the services was a foreshadow of Christ. In the new testament teachings we look back and believe on him has come.

    There's one way.

    God bless.

Genesis 3:14,15, just like then, the trick & deception was within twisting the WORDs. Genesis 3:1-4,

    Woman's seed = Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:26-37,

    Son of wickedness = 1Samuel 25:17, John 8, Luke 22:3, John 13:2,

    Don't be in fear. 1John 4:18, Luke 12:5, Psalms 34:9, Exodus 20:20, James 4:7,

    Hello,

"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

Does it mean something that God says there will be enmity between the serpent and the woman, but leaves out "man"?

Also, "between thy seed" is worrisome. If the serpent is supposed to represent the devil (correct?) then this suggests that the devil can have children, can create other "devils". How is this typically interpreted?

    Just curious.

Ree. The body Genesis 3:19. Your soul when you take your last breath end of

Soul life or breath life. Animals have body and soul life also then the spirit if born

Again goes back to God who gave it. Also look at Ecclesiastes 9:5+6. Some

Believe soul and spirit are same biblically we are created formed made breath

In man which starts when ababy takes its first breath has nothing to do with

Eternal spirit from God his gift when born again. That's why Ephesians says we

Are born first time without God and without hope until born again.

Hi Karen. Yes, God could have stopped sin right from the beginning, when Adam & Eve were tempted to commit sin, God could have stepped right in & prevented that happening - indeed, God could have also destroyed Satan & saved all of us so much grief, bound for eternal agony. But you know what, if God did that then He wouldn't have allowed us to express the mental & spiritual resources He has given us. All His creation, including mankind, the angels & other beings in Heaven, would either be fully programed to not respond to evil or maybe unable to have the power of choice & the exercise of emotions of love, faith, etc. Yet, we are made in His Image - so our existence in the flesh must exude those qualities of God that He has placed in us. Sadly, sin has severely marred what God has put in us & so man in his sinful unregenerate state shows anything but godliness, serving his own lusts, lifting himself to a god-like status over others.

In Heaven, Lucifer, the covering cherub, was created holy, serving God. Then one day, "iniquity was found" in him ( Ezekiel 28:15). We're not told how one so holy managed to sin, but having the power to choose, as we also have, Satan's heart lifted with pride, he sinned, & he led Adam & Eve into the same trap ( Genesis 3:4,5: to believe they too can elevate their hearts & minds to the level of God). If God withheld from us the ability to choose, to use our minds to consider His Words, whether to remain true to Him or to pursue our own ways, then we would not have fulfilled His design & we would not have had the ability to demonstrate true affection from our wills. It would have just been a love coded into our design & a sinlessness not based on our desire to please our Creator. To be a human as God intended meant that Adam & Eve had to reject Satan's thrusts at every point in their lives - but would we afterwards have remained pure?

And so Jesus was sent to us - the great Plan for our spiritual restoration - from self, to God alone.

Thanks Henry for that explanation, however I looked at Genesis 2:25 & Genesis 3:7-10 again and couldn't find where God said that they were naked. I agree with A & E being sinless in chapter 2 but the comment that their nakedness alluded to their sinlessness & had nothing to do with their state of undress, seemed to go beyond the intent of the relevant Scriptures.
