Satan; as you probably know from verses such as Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 was a Cherub; and acquainted with worship involving music as his talent inbred; as it were by God. He would have been one of the "sons of God" mentioned in Job before he fell; glorifying God when the earth was created. Of course Satan's own conversation quoting scriptures during the temptation after Christ had fasted 40 days in the wilderness; not to mention the things that he himself said in Genesis are recorded in the Bible. Satan is; after all "the accuser of the saints"; therefore as he accused the High Priest Joshua and the angel had to say "the Lord rebuke you"; as well as when Jude brings out the proper approach in this manner when opposing these evil principalities means we are to take our adversary seriously. Satan possessed Judas Iscariot directly when Jesus addressed him "what you do; do quickly". He also will be controlling Antichrist who is possessed by the demon from the pit; and in order to gain worship for himself will have the image of himself worshipped. Again; he knows his own doom; as surely the demons did when asking Jesus if he was sending them "before the time" to the bottomless pit. Satan has to obtain permission from God; and of course has his minions under him; who will be cast out when 1/3 of the angels fight Michael and lose. Surely Satan knows his doom; although he is apparently insane; trying everything to destroy us "accusing us day and night" (Revelation). He prowls like a "roaring lion; seeking who he may devour" (James). He is working with principalities ruling over nations; and knows that his hold over death is defeated; as now those in Christ go to be with him directly "to be absent from the body is present with the Lord." There is no longer a hold in Hades for the righteous; and Christ's victory was declared there after he died. Satan knows the Word and the twisting of it for his gain is his greatest weapon.

There will be a bodily resurrection. That is what occurred with Jesus and that is what will occur with us. His body is not in the tomb, not because it was destroyed, but because it was raised from being a body of flesh and blood to being an incorruptible spiritual body. 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 indicates our current body is the seed that dies, but that leads to it being raised in glory like Christ's body. There is a connection between the two states, like you can't sow a fig tree seed and grow an orange tree. The issue in 1 Corinthians 15:12-19 is that there were those denying there will be a future resurrection of believers after they die. Paul says denying that is the same as denying that Jesus rose from the dead and that such a faith is in vain. Objecting based on our inability to work out the details of how God will do this and our inability to discern what kind of body God will raise as a result of the resurrection causes Paul to call those using these questions to scoff at this doctrine "you fool" in 1 Corinthians 15:36

The body is dust, and so it will return to dust Genesis 3:19, but that will not prevent it from being raised to glory like Christ's body any more than it prevented God from creating our earthly body from dust in the first place. Christians have been burned alive for their faith, so that will not stop God from raising them either. However, there are strong indications that the early church did not practice burning the remains of those that died who were not burned at the hands of their enemies. So I personally will go with that tradition.

Yes. Absolutely. Satan quoted scripture to Jesus word for word as temptation. I believe in the book of Matthew if not others.

Satan is a fallen angel who knew more about heaven than we do. He was jealous and wanted the powers and glory of God for himself. He possesses biblical knowledge in which he can use to bring disruption and sin into our lives.

Many today are familiar with scripture but do not serve God. Some biblical scholars have even turned atheist or similar due to the lies of Satan.

Trust in the Lord with all of your heart! The word is living and remains true.

    God Bless!

Satan knows the Bible but he doesn't believe nor understand it. Even as Christ spoke His words in parable those of the world (including Satan) knew the words...but didn't understand. Not due to lack of wisdom but ignorance in lack of belief.

    Hebrews 9:15

And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

While some commentators say the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament only applied to believers under the law that came to faith after Jesus died, many say this applied to all sins committed by God's elect in all ages who had the faith of Hebrews 11:6 that pleased God. I take the later view. Also Hebrews 11:40 and Hebrews 12:1 show that the people in Hebrews 11 ultimately had their faith made perfect when we entered into the New Covenant.

They also had the first messianic promise of the Seed of the woman in the curse God uttered against the serpent immediately after the fall before he curse woman and man ( Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.)

The old testament was a progressive revelation of the promise within the serpent's curse in numerous ways. It was always expanded by God making other promises, like the promised multiplying of the seed of Abraham like the stars in the heavens which Abraham believed and by that faith was counted righteous. The Messianic Psalms of David. The prophesied Servant of Isaiah. The prophesied New Covenant of Jeremiah. And those are just a small sample of these kinds of promises. We know 2 Corinthiand 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. I believe Jesus was always an inseparable part of every promise God ever made in the Old Testament from the moment He made them and that is what those old testament saints were believing in, even if only seen in shadow. Even we still only know in part and see through a glass darkly when we look at God's prophetic promises 1 Corinthians 13:9-12.

I will make an attempt here. First of all; there is no purpose set forth of man that can thwart the plan of God. Ultimately; the One who is to rule and reign over Israel as king also had to fulfill the role of Prophet and Priest. Clearly, according to the N.T. no one can fulfill the law perfectly; so the perfect lamb of God had to be sacrificed. He is the "Ancient of Days" who would come as the "Son of David" from the earthly lineage described on the mother's side but also with references to the father's lineage.

There are clearly failures; as the whole Promised Land was never taken. The Philistines; for instance are where the modern day Palestinians reside; and many other ancient controversies will only be settled at the return of Christ to set up His Millennial Kingdom. We must look back to God's first promises to man; in the garden and Genesis 3:16 to see that the Messiah was always part of the plan. The next covenant of the rainbow was God's promise; not even based on what man did. EVERY prophet had failings; including Moses; the only one said to talk to God as though a friend; and was used to intercede much in the same way Christ did. But he failed when he struck the rock in anger; much as anger led him to the other sin of killing the Egyptian setting back the deliverance perhaps from when it could have begun. As far as I know; Samuel himself didn't have any recorded sin; although clearly all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Much of 1 and 2 Samuel have to do with Saul and God's dealings with David and the Philistines. As part of God's lineage; surely Satan used Saul with his 21 attempts to kill David to attempt to thwart God's plan. David's failings were costly; and there is a reference to him being a man of war keeping him from building the Temple Solomon did. Of course; Solomon in all his riches failed not heeding God's warnings. God remains faithful; as Deuteronomy states even in the last days and Tribulation.

I was taught in the original language, that

Man means both man and woman.

    "woman-means man with a womb"

    Mankind, means men and women.

I welcome comment on that per the Hebrew language that Moses used.

If we r going to take huge liberties with the translation then we r asking for trouble . This is God's Word , not a politically correct manifesto . God's Word is pure and righteous and not to b questioned by humans . Believe it or don't believe it , that's up to u , I hope I won't allow this world's agenda to stop u from reading the Bible with an open heart and mind . God has an awesome message for u . Hi Pam. We see this pronoun ('us') used also in Genesis 1:26 & Genesis 11:7, but we should not understand that God, in these instances, is speaking of Himself & the other beings in Heaven. Rather, we learn that all of the Godhead (i.e. the Divine Beings within the Person of God) were active in these instances where they interacted with mankind.

1 John 5:7 reads, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one", reminds us that for God to be Who He is, His Word (now Jesus as man & in Heaven), & His Spirit, are all one in the Godhead & yet separated (or, sent out) for the performance of God's Will. So when God uses 'Us', we can understand that the all-inclusive God is declaring His Deity (His Unity in Triunity) & this fact should be seen in those instances where they are revealed to us (in His creation of man & His dealings with man).

  • DOMINION, AUTHORITY, POWER in the Holy Spirit - In Reply - 2 years ago
Jesus did not become the Son of Man until he was born HUMAN.

The teaching is, that earth and creation was made for man (translates as male or female).

Only Humans had Been given DOMINION; power and authority to use it. Satan stole it when Adam and Eve sinned. Satan was created. He had no authority to be on earth as Human. His first form was as a serpent. His fallen angelic form, took possession of that serpent to deceive the humans.

Jesus Took Back the dominion ( Genesis 3:15) from Satan at the CROSS. He crushed Satan's head (power).

Please understand this. Satan has no authority or power over BORN AGAIN BELIEVERS.

We don't have to lay down and suffer Satans threats or oppression. He cannot get inside of Believers in Jesus. We have the Holy Spirit indwelling inside of our born again spirits given to us through Jesus.

We have the authority and the power to command Satan to GET OUT of our lives, our family, our homes, job opportunities, relatives. Our prayers have power, but we have to accept it and use it. Our relationship to Jesus needs to become close. We can only do that by getting into the Bible and soaking up scriptures for ourself.

If someone hands you a billion dollars, and you only use it, one hamburger and French fries at a time__you can't see what Jesus provided for you. Scriptures are your weapons. ( Matthew 12:43-45). The evil spirits come back ever so often to see if you really meant for them to move out. Reaffirm As Needed. Ephesians 6: they are invisible, but when "all hell" breaks loose, in your world: it's time to fight back with your ARSENAL OF WEAPONS. Memorize the scriptures. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring them to your mind; in the heat of battle.

Walking free of hidden sun, or forgotten sin, can be dealt with at 1 John 1:9, 1 John 2:1-2 + 2:20. The Holy One is the Holy Spirit.

We are HUMANS and beloved of God. Let's walk in the provision Jesus purchased in Blood.

The phrases "Son of man" and "Son of God" are used for Jesus Christ to refer to His humanity and deity. The message of scripture was that Jesus Christ was both God and man. What follows below is a fuller explanation of both terms.

"Son of Man" has messianic overtones and refers to person of human descendent. It refers to the Messiah who would born of a virgin ( Genesis 3:15; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Micah 5:2). It is a title of the Messiah, who is Jesus Christ.

Son of Man - New Testament

The phrase "Son of Man" occurs 88 times in the New Testament and only four times outside of the gospels. In the New Testament, the term has additional meaning. It still refers to a human, but it is also a title for Jesus Christ. Jesus was the ultimate human. He was God in human flesh.

In summary, when "Son of Man" is used as a title it refers to the humanity of Jesus Christ and "Son of God" refers to the deity of Christ. Both terms were used of Christ because He was man, and He was God. "Son of Man" also referred to the Messiah. The Jews understood the meaning of these terms. Today, we focus in on the word "son" and sometimes are not aware that both expressions had special meanings.

Together, they mean that Jesus was completely man and He was completely God. He was the God-man. He was the eternal, holy God who came in human flesh. Without being a man, He could not have died. If He was not God, He would have been a sinner. But as the God-man, He was the sinless man - the perfect sacrifice - a sinless sacrifice for our sins. He returned to life and ascended back to heaven. Praise the Lord!

Genesis 1:26-28, "them" "be fruitful & multiply" Genesis 1:31,

Note Genesis 3:24 "drove out the man" singular, Genesis 3:23, "from the Garden of Eden" Genesis 3:22, "the man" is become like one of us, to know good & evil" is this religion?

    * Note, Genesis 4:14 ._._." everyone thst findeth me shall slay._." proof more people in earth. Genesis 4:15,

    * Genesis 4:16, appears she was from Nod.

Likewise in Genesis 4:23, the man that was slain wasn't mentioned here.

If you read & study the WORD of GOD, many times you will notice names & several other details are left out at times. 1Kings 17:9-24, same Widow? = Luke 4:26, Luke 7:12, Luke 21:2-3, yet many names are mentioned, when studying often times their names come up again, helping understand a more vast picture. Genesis 6:1-2, is this also in reference to Genesis 4:19, ?

Note Genesis 5, generation of Adam leaves out Cain, Abel & all other people. Again: Genesis 5:1-2, Gen 5:3, "male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day they were created" = them, their, they.

    Hopefully this is helpful
  • Chris - In Reply on Genesis 3 - 2 years ago
Thanks GiGi. I could only learn this from referring to the Hebrew text (& translation), where in Genesis 2:4 the Hebrew clearly shows "in the day that the LORD (YHWH) God (Elohim) made the earth and the heavens". And not being a Hebrew reader, I can only read it as given, that it is 'God Who is YHWH', Who has done all these things & now communing with man & woman.

Given that the Genesis writer is generally accepted as being Moses (written between 1450 & 1410 BC), where he would have been given special grace to relate these events that he personally had not experienced, it could be that God was already showing him that 'special' connection to His people Israel, yet future, was already set in Adam & Eve.

Yet, would all those living pre-Moses (i.e. pre- Exodus 3:13,14), even know that 'special' Name? Exodus 6:3, says that the 'Name YHWH was not known to the patriarchs'. And yet we know that they were aware of it, like Abraham ( Genesis 15:7; Genesis 22:14), Jacob ( Genesis 27:20) & others knew that Name. But did they only know OF that Name but did not know Him fully, the full depth of understanding of the Name, YHWH? This debate probably still goes on. But when the children of Israel were in slavery in Egypt for over 400 years, that Name which should have been remembered & faithfully passed on, was forgotten, hence their need for an urgent reminder by Moses.

And "why should the Israelites listen to Moses & trust God?" There were four tokens of identification of this 'forgotten' God: the one of His Name ( Exodus 3:14, I AM: I've read that it is the inner meaning of YHWH - I Am the One Who Is); the one of the rod/serpent ( Exodus 4:1-5); the one of the leprous hand ( Exodus 4:6-8); & the one of the river of blood ( Exodus 4:9). I guess that any one or all of these signs should have confirmed Moses' call without any dispute & revealed to the Israelites unequivocally Who the One was Who had heard their cries & come to save them.

    Chris,

My bad, too. As I read farther, I saw the name LORD God used repeatedly in Genesis 2. My questions are: does this name in Genesis actually equate to the name YHWH? Or was LORD God or Lord God indicative of another meaning or Hebrew name? And if the pre-flood people knew God as YHWH (I AM THA I AM), did Noah not carry this name over to the post flood era? If Abraham, Isaac, or Jacob knew God as YHWH, when did the Israelites cease to know Him by this name among others mentioned? If the Israelites never knew that God's name was YHWH, why did God think that the Israelites would listen to Moses and trust God if Moses gave them this name for God?

Hi Chris, very good analysis. Thanks. I just read Genesis 2:2 and it does not say LORD God. Are you meaning Exodus 3:6?
  • Chris - In Reply on Genesis 3 - 2 years ago
Hello Gitai. That's a good question, as these differences in the use of God (as a Name), can be found right through the Scriptures.

In the references you gave, we can understand & know the meaning of the various names given. In Genesis chapter 1, the author refers to God as 'God' (or, Elohim). Elohim, is a general name for the True God, as it can also be used to depict other gods (e.g. Genesis 31:30; Exodus 12:12), of angels ( Psalm 8:5), of men ( Psalm 82:6), of judges/rulers ( Exodus 21:6)). So, in relation to God's creative Work, the Name Elohim was given here. And of course, Elohim is also used of the True God elsewhere in the Bible, where creating is not signified (e.g. Genesis 35:7).

But in Genesis chapter 2 we see the use of the word, LORD (or, Yahweh), & this signifies a special revelation & a special relationship to Israel: 'Yahweh' means the active, self-existent One (as in Exodus 3:14, where the word is connected to the verb, 'to be') & also being Israel's Redeemer ( Exodus 6:6). So the use of the word, LORD, signifies this True God (Elohim) is not distant (as seen by His other Works), but is now revealed in a most personal way to Israel as LORD (Yahweh); hence combining the two words to read, LORD God. And from Genesis 2:2 onwards, this Name is used to signify the commencement of a personal interaction with His creation.

And when we read the word, 'Lord', this means 'master, lord, sovereign' (as in Genesis 15:2). Hence we can have a variety of combinations: God, LORD God, Lord God, each one depicting what the author has received from God that has to be revealed to the reader (chiefly, Israel in the OT references). And of interest, this God Who is a personal God, is also experienced in many ways in that relationship. Hence, we get compound Names of Yahweh, such Yahweh-Jireh (the God Who will see to it; or provides); Yahweh-Shalom (the God Who gives peace); & many other compound Names.

  • RichFairhurst - In Reply - 2 years ago
Both Cain and Able acknowledged God existed. But at least two critical aspects of the consequences of eating the fruit God had forbidden were disregarded by Cain and regarded by Able and that is why God disregarded Cain and regarded Able.

The first major difference is how the curse upon the ground in Genesis 3:17 is regarded:

    ...Because thou... hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

Cain disregarded the fact that his earthly labors were under a curse and could only bring sorrow until he died, while Able had regard for God's words concerning the ground.

The second major difference is how the awareness of our nakedness must be dealt with before God in Genesis 3:21

Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

Fig leaves and plant fibers like cotton are adequate to cover the visible nakedness men and women see when looking at each other, but is completely inadequate for covering the nakedness that still makes us hide from God after we put those things on.

Skins from an animal meant that God had killed an animal and possibly tanned it. In any case, God shed the first blood ever shed on planet earth in order to cover Adam and Eve's nakedness before Him. Cain had no regard for that, but Able did.

Even though animal sacrifice wasn't adequate to fully restore humanity's ideal relationship with God, Able recognized that God had made the first move toward real reconciliation by shedding blood and designed his offering to call that to mind and remember that before God. The Lord's supper serves that purpose now.

    1 Samuel 2:30

Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

Satan is not Human. Earth was created to be cared for by Humans. Evil spirits or Satan do not NOW possess AUTHORITY to oppress or possess.

Adam lost it in the garden to the serpent (Satan).

God already had a plan of redemption in the works. When a human (Abraham) was willing to sacrifice his beloved son at Gods request__Gods plan went into action.

Luke 1 John the Baptist was conceived; Luke 1:26, Mary consented to become the mother of Immanuel (God With Us). Jesus laid aside his deity to become a HUMAN. The son of MAN. Fully God and fully Human. When Satan saw Jesus in the manger, he probably said, I have to kill this kid. But Jesus was protected by angels up to the Cross. After Jesus was crucified, Satan thought He had won after all. BUT on the 3rd day, Jesus crushed Satan's head (his power) Genesis 3:15.

Jesus took back what Adam lost to Satan: Power, Authority and He gave it to his Believers; PLUS HIS NAME.

Ask in my Name_Anything. The only problem is FAITH OF THE BELIEVERS. If your knowledge is weak on the known Will of God, Satan will put it to the test and persecute us.

Jesus fought Satan with scriptures. IT IS WRITTEN___

If you don't know any, you will suffer, get sick, lose things you love and wonder why God doesn't help you?

    Mishael

Ephesians 6 says Satan and his devils are invisible. But evil spirits can get inside of willing humans and do their evil through that human. 80% Christians have no real knowledge of the realm of evil. It exists but they don't teach it. THE BIBLE DOES.

Google: spiritual warfare or watch some Derek Prince on YouTube or listen to 200 verses of spiritual warfare scriptures. It's in there. Will we learn it? Jesus has provided everything we need to get Satan out of our lives.

Turn off the video games and get into some real warfare. You will be beat up if you don't know scripture!

Jesus has PROVIDED all we need. Trust Him.
