One of the definitions of faith is belief, trust in and loyalty to God. Patience is defined as bearing pains of trials calmly or without complaint and also defined as steadfast despite opposition, difficulty or adversity.

I THANK GOD FOR HIS PROPHETIC DISCIPLES FOR ADDING THE CLARITY OF GOD'S WORD SO THAT THE GROWING CHRISTIANS SUCH AS WE,CAN CONSUME, DIGEST, PURGE, AND STAND ON HIS WORD. THE BOOK OF JAMES TEACHES US HOW TO USE THE SWORD FOR OUR TRAILS, AND TRY THE SPIRIT BY THE SPIRIT, AND WAIT ON GOD AS WE KNOW HE IS WITH US EVEN IN THE MIST OF OUR STORMS.
THIS IS A VERSION OF THE "FOOTPRINTS". HE NEVER LEAVES US, NO MATTER WHAT. WE LEAVE HIM. JUST STAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IN JESUS NAME AMEN.

Unspotted means anonymous, your father in heaven knows and will reward you. Good people I have known, there good deeds bear the testimony. Why would we want others to know the good things we do, helping the needy. Jesus forbade those he did miracles for healing blind to not tell anyone. I have seen politicians go and appear to work with his family, washing dishes in a soup kitchen that was already clean. Was he unspotted? I should say not he was on CNN. To

James and Paul give great instruction for the Christian life. James gives us some of the answers that all Christians have asked..."Where are the instructions on how I live this life every day?" Thank you for God's living and breathing word in James.

The Book of James is the new testament's Proverbs. It's a guide that tells us exactly what we need to do, when we need to do it, and how we need to do it! God has given us our "daily bread" in James and as the word says, we need daily bread to survive. So let us continue to feed our "spirit" daily by reading and applying the Book of James to all that we think, say, and do. AMEN!

23 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Verse 23 reads like "works" I mean it's some thing that you DO. Be DOERS of the WORD. OR obey Gods Word.I've never understood the thinking of those who down play works. Works is essential to salvation, in other words, man DOES the works of God. WHY is it sooo important to be a DOER of the Gods word??? Verse 24 tells us why.

24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

My thoughts on James chapter one is:God reminding us that we have to keep are focus in this life on his will; Forgetting are own; that are patiences frees us from suffering, that are wisdom, that God has given to us, keeps us making the right decisions, at the right times, and that we don't just read are word, and not apply it in are lives.
And it also exposes the religous spirit; That Demon Spirit that keep us believing that we're Holy and more acceptable to God than the Homosexual, than the theif, than the lier, than the promiscuous person : it is the same spirit that ruled in the pharisees that ended up murdering Jesus, and is still trying to do the same in are lives..........

Blessed book of James is one we should read eveyday too keep are memory fresh, and are focus on God's will, before us. Before we face the world and evrything it has to throw at us. Bless God for his word, Saints, and remember are spirit needs food, just like are body does, to become and remain strong in battle.

Amen! and again; Bless God saints for what he has already done for you, and remain humble that he may use us to are max capacity.

We Christians need to allow the Spirit of God help us follow the bible in our actions. There is need for us to stop being religious and become doers of the word of God. We don't want to be helping unbelievers blaspheme God because of our actions. Therefore, our daily prayer should be: Lord please take control of my tongue and temper.
  • Don on James 1 - 11 years ago
James is committed to the words of Jesus and follows him and not other apostles or other Christians. Jesus is both God and man. Jesus said he is in us and the Father is in him. James delivers a gentle gospel that is wonderful to teach to children.
  • Bob on James 1 - 11 years ago
I see this Chapter of James like the rest of the book of James it is instruction on HOW to live the Christian life and be an example of Christ before others and James points out in this Chapter again the most dangerous instrument we all have a problem with at times the tongue. Just think of what we Christians could do for our Lord and Savior if we would let Him rule our tongues
  • Robert on James 1:27 - 11 years ago
Where are all the comments for this verse ? Maybe one of the most important in the NT. Helping the helpless is one of Gods great desires . Want to please God ? Help the helpless when you can .
Live a holy life because without Holiness no man shall see the Lord .
When we do help others , we do get blessed by God , but if Holiness is missing so is the magnitude of the blessing .

I love reading God’s word and I just want to thank him for the blessings I've been trying to keep myself humble like the bible says so that I can not be tempted with evil.

This scripture lets me know that patience has to work and finish its work, then comes the glory. So don't faint. I love it!

Verse 2, It’s important for us to acknowledge that hardships, trials, tribulations and troubles are a necessary part of life. John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." In the world we will have tribulations and troubles -- sicknesses, family tragedies, out of work, financial difficulties, family problems, earthquakes, floods etc., business failure etc. It is a given, but Jesus says, "be of good cheer". He is saying that we must learn how to find joy in the midst of life's hardships, because He has overcome the world. James tells us to count all of this joy. James 1:2-4, My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. How many of us really take this verse seriously? The truth is, if we really desire the liberating power of God's Spirit and kingdom in our lives, we must find joy in life's hardships. Two reasons why we need to learn how to enjoy life's hardships. 1. The Storms of Life Help To Keep Us On Track With God. Psalms 119:67, Before I was afflicted I went astray, But now I keep Your word. There's a story of a woman who became the victim of amnesia. For three months she wandered, but during a severe thunderstorm she suddenly remembered who she was and where she was from. How often the storms of life bring us back to our senses! God sends them not to destroy us but to help us. Many people can look back and thank God for the storms that brought them back to Him! 2. Struggles And Hardships Sift Out The Impurities In Our Lives. Hebrews 12:27-28, Now this, "Yet once more," indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. A Christian man lost his home and mill when a flood washed them away. He was brokenhearted and discouraged as he stood surveying his loss. Just then he saw a glittering object that had been uncovered by the waters. It was gold! The disaster he thought had made him a beggar had actually made him wealthy. So, the Lord often works through our troubles to strip away certain cherished possessions to show us the better treasures of His love and power. How thankful we should be that in every storm of affliction we have the assurance that the Lord has a good purpose in view! The more joy we are able to find in the midst of life's hardships the stronger and more secure we will be as individuals, who are now able to walk in victory and succeeding in the issues of life. Nehemiah 8:10 “...for this day is holy to our LORD. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” It all boils down to the fact that hardships are a part of life and there is no way we can escape them in our lives. They serve a meaningful purpose.

John 8:3-11, The woman was taken to Jesus Christ for judgment. Jesus said go and sin no more. This means someone or people can obey this command, but I cannot point out who they are, only God knows the heart. Jesus is so merciful saying this word even if no one can obey. For example of a good father in the family, he will not command his 4 years old son/daughter to bring one container filled with water, since he knew it is so heavy. Our God also cannot command the word to his people that we cannot do. To enter into the kingdom of heaven is dual. Faith to the Lord Jesus Christ and faith to His word also. I would not deny that faith alone can save Soul. Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us an example to the one on his side also hanging on the cross whom he has given a promise to enter into the kingdom of heaven. After that promise he was dead, so nothing bad or good could happen again because his body was dead. Not like us who are still alive. We cannot compare our faith to that of one of the robbers, who died just after receiving the Lord Jesus Christ by faith, because our evil thoughts, evil eyes are always there and also we are often liars. To erase this, we have to work and practice to follow His words and ask him for help, and pray that all our bad works will be cleansed before his judgment comes. We know we are all temporarily here, so why don’t we prepare for that day to come? Verses to support salvation of our own Soul is individual based on our own works and not by faith whereby many believers were deceived. Old Testament Ezekiel 14:14, 14:20, 18:27. New Testament Philippians 2:12, James 1:21-22, 1Timothy 4:16. My God will judge our works whether good or bad. My God will not judge our faith to Him.

In James 1:12-15, Let no man say when he is tempted I am tempted of God. In Job 1:8, is there a contradiction there or is it simply put that man is tempted when he drawn away of his own lust and God simply allows test and trials to come upon. The main question is People at times will ask, why did God allow this to happen or why does bad things happen to good people? Thank you for your reply.

I think the only place in Scripture where you can find the true meaning of the word "religion" is verse 27!
  • Timothy Wayne George on James 1:21 - 11 years ago
The basic meaning of superfluity is an overflow of evil. The Holy Spirit is teaching us through the Apostle James, that we must be doers of the word, and not hearers only. We must put away the overflow of evil in our lives, by receiving the implanted word of God, with meekness, which is able to save our souls. Jesus said man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. As we feed on the Word of God, the Spirit of God transforms us into a child of God. If any man is in Christ Jesus, he is a new creation, the old is gone, and all things become new. II Cor. 5:17

I like James 1:21 but what does superfluity means?
  • Ngy on James 1:3 - 11 years ago
When you are at that point where you know that it is only God that can see you through, you know for sure that it takes patience. I love this scripture!
