The original greek manuscripts also use a lower case "g " when referring to the Word "being God ", this infers that there is a difference in the relationship between the Word and God, plus when read in context it says the Word was WITH God if they are one and the same such wording is not needed. God is Jesus ' father, Jesus is still however the means that his father will use to save us.

John 1 18 tells us that no man has seen God at any time. Had people seen Jesus? Yes, thousands of people have seen Jesus, therefore Jesus can not be Almighty God, who is Jehovah. That does not take away the fact that he is divine. Having the nature of or being a deity. As the son of Almighty God, Jesus was sent forth by God. Jesus demonstrated on a small scale what he will do for all of mankind in the near future on his Father 's behalf.
  • Jeff Bailey on John 1:9 - 10 years ago
The very existence of life itself, physical or spiritual is in Christ. All things were made by him and in Genesis he breathed the very breath of "life " into man. Only man, made in the image of God, is spoken of as having a "living soul ", thus every man has the "light " or existence. This verse only speaks to the living soul not the eternal salvation of one, otherwise it would teach that everyone will be saved, or everyone is called, and none go to Hell. Everyone will not be saved as Revelation teaches us that some are "cast into the lake of fire ".
  • Rev. Autrey on John 1:2 - 10 years ago
John 1, verses 1 and 2 read, 'Before anything else existed, there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is himself God. ' The key words here are 'He is himself God. ' This is the greatest proof one can have that Jesus is God. And it agrees completely with what Thomas said about Jesus in John 20, verse 28. Thomas called Jesus 'My Lord and my God. ' Then in Matthew 28, verse 9, we see the disciples worshiping Jesus as God. All of this agrees with what we read in Isaiah 35, verse 4, 'Say to those who are afraid, 'Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you. ' And as everyone knows, Jesus is our Savior. Please Christians! Let 's look at our Savior in the light of what is plainly revealed in the Scriptures. Isn 't the Church called the Bride of Christ? This means that Jesus is our Husband. Then, what bride would refuse to talk to our husband in prayer. This is exactly what we are doing if we refuse to pray to Jesus as God. To put it plainly, what bride would talk to her Father in law, Father God, instead of her husband, Jesus. See what a problem this is. The answer is, God has more than one personality. The Father, then, is the way God makes his decisions. The Holy Spirit is the way God inspires us to believe in what he is doing. But in all cases, Jesus is the way God speaks to us and saves us. God bless you!

Jesus has given us the power to become what Heaven has ordained us to be. That means no more limitation. Nothing can limit us as long as we know who we are in Christ. We have being given power. Thank you Jesus.

I am responding to the comments made by Toni on the identity of Jesus on 6 28 14. Yes, Jesus is the Word of God, as quoted in John 1 2. But this does not mean that he is a manifestation of God 's spoken word. If this were so, God would have manifested a rival to himself. To put it plainly, we cannot have two Gods, or three Gods. Such thinking has it 's roots in paganism. And we as Christians whould not allow Satan to tempt us to think this way. Let me say it plainly, God thinks of himself in three distinct ways, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We as humans made in God 's image have a similiar capicity. Our personality is based on how we precieve ourselves in different situations. To our children we are a father, to our wives we are a husband, and to our co workers we are a good friend. But we are still the same person. What I am saying is, to us humans, God is Jesus our Savior. When God makes a decision God is the Father. And when God inspires us to believe God is the Holy Spirit. We know this is so because of what we read about the identity of Jesus in Luke 1, verse 43. "Elizabeth gave a glad cry and exclaimed to Mary. 'You are blessed by God above all other women and your child is blessed. What an honor this is, that the Mother of my Lord should visit me! ' " Elizabeth was speaking of the birth of Jesus as the God her son John would prepare the way for. It plainly says in Isaiah 40 that John would "Make a highway for the Lord through the wilderness and make a smooth road through the desert for his God. " Then in Isaiah 9 Jesus is called the Wonderful Counselor and the Mighty God. How much plainer can I make this. When John 1, verse 2 calls Jesus God, this is who he is. This brings us to the wonderful Gospel. As Jesus, the God who made us has come in human flesh to save us. Please consider this!

They that have ears, let them hear Who spoke the Word? God Who did the Word come from? God How is the Word God? The Word is who God is it 's His thoughts. It 's His testimony. It 's His declaration to man everything He has in store, what He has done and will do. It 's His wisdom, His power, His mercy, His grace and truth. The Word is the Spirit of Truth manifested in the flesh. It is God 's ONLY begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Without God 's Word, Jesus, nothing would be in existence. Jesus is not God. He is the Son of the true and living God. We must have God 's Word abiding in our hearts, in order to know how to live, how to walk and that we have the Spirit of Truth and not the Spirit of Error. It is the Holy Ghost that witnesses and testifies of who Jesus is. God Himself testified of His Son, when He spoke out of heaven and declared "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, hear him. " There are three, the Father, the Word Jesus and the Holy Ghost. Nothing that was made was made without the Word, which became flesh. Jesus is the Word spoken by God. "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. " John 1 17 He is God 's Word that gives light to all who are in darkness. "That which was from the beginning, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have hand of the Word of Life. For the life was manifested and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew you that eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested unto us. " 1John 1 1 2

Jesus has a divine nature just like how All of God 's angels have a divine nature. But even then even, imperfect human Judges Rulers were called gods. John 10 34 "Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are "gods " '? " Exodus 4 16 " He will speak for you to the people, and he will be your spokesman, and you Moses will serve as God to him. " Exodus 7 1 " The LORD then said to Moses See, I have made you like God to Phar 8242 aoh " 1Corinthians 15 40 "And there are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies but the glory of the heavenly bodies is one sort, and that of the earthly bodies is a different sort. " 1Corinthians 15 47 " The first man is from the earth and made of dust the second man is from heaven. "
