    I love reading my favorite verses in the old English. Somehow I feel nearer to G_d in the midst of the warm text. The writers had His hand on their shoulder as they laid the words on paper.
    And, thank G_d for the technology that brings it so clearly and quickly to my eyes.
    G_d bless you.

    "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." - This was the first thing I ever read in the Bible (at 42 years old). Nothing has ever touched me more than this statement.
  • Antonio Coleman on Isaiah 9:6 - 11 years ago
    There are is no such thing as God(s). There is only one and his name is Jesus Christ. 1 John 5:7 says there are three that bear record in heaven. The father the word and the holy spirit and these three are one. John 1:1 says in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with GOD the Word was GOD... That whole description was of Jesus. In the bible no one verse stands alone. There is always other verses that compliment and/or justify the initial verse that is being read. Prime example is the two verses I listed. Another example is John 8:58 Jesus said befor Abraham was I Am. In Exodus 3:14 GOD said to Moses I Am that I Am.

    this verse teaches that if you add any thing to the grace of God,it makes void the gift,it nullifies the gift of God, Ephesians 2:8,9 Titus 3:5 John 1:12 Acts 15:11. Shortly before Jesus died he made it very clear the repented thief could do nothing but except the gift of God, he confessed he was a sinner and put his faith in Christ,salvation by Grace plus nothing else.

    IN THE BEGINNING GENESIS 1;1 STARTS WITH THE MOMENT OF CREATION AND MOVES TOWARD TO THE CREATION OF HUMANITY JOHN 1;1 STARTS WITH CREATION AND CONTEMPLATES ETERNITY PAST THE FACT THAT THE WORD WAS WITH GOD SUGGESTS A FACE TO FACE RELATIONSHIP IN THE ANCIENT WORLD IT WAS IMPORTANT THAT PERSONS OF EQUAL STATION BE ON THE SAME LEVEL, OR FACE-TO FACE WHEN SITTING ACROSS FROM ONE ANOTHER THUS THE WORD WITH INDICATES A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP BUT ALSO IMPLIES EQUAL STATUS THE WORD JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF IS AN ACTIVE PERSON IN COMMUNICATION WITH THE FATHER LOOK AT 1 JOHN 1;2 MOREOVER THE WORD WAS GOD THE WORD ORDER IN GREEK SHOWS THAT THE WORD WAS GOD NOT A god THIS IS A STRAIGHTFORWARD DECLARATION OF CHRIST'S DEITY SINCE JOHN USES WORD TO REFER TO JESUS THE WORD WAS OF THE VERY QUALITY OF GOD WHILE STILL RETAINING HIS PERSONAL DISTINCTION FROM THE FATHER

    Only the peace of Our Father GOD through His Son the LORD JESUS CHRIST can we find the true peace we all so desire within.When my mind 'is haughty'and my 'my eyes'are lofty I have a loving and merciful saviour who will cleanse me of all unrighteousness.This henceforth is the true peace of the spirit that verse two (2)refers to.If I say I have no sin I deceive myself and there is no truth in me,First Epistle of John 1:8.If I confess my sin He is faithful and just to forgive me,1:9.My Lord,Our Lord is a loving and merciful GOD.Praise be to GOD forever and ever.Amen

    As many as received Christ, He doesn't make them sons but makes power available to them to become sons that means when we receive Christ we don't become sons immediately but Children it is now left for one to harness the power which is embedded in the Holy Ghost, made available by the reception of Christ, to become sons
  • C Edwards on Numbers 23:19 - 11 years ago
    John 1 says, In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men. John 1:14 continues in saying "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
    Listen, all that worship Jesus must worship him in spirit and in truth. If God says it, it's done.
    And for Allah's comment concerning, where is the Trinity, read Matthew 28:19, Trinity means 3, Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. The word "Bible" doesn't appear in the Bible either, but the Word of God(the Bible)is the number one best seller in the world. Study to show thyself approved and may God bless you all!

    Others beside jehovah are here callex gods. Therefore that the word was called "god" or "a god" in john 1:1 is no evidence that the word was of the same essence or part of a trinity. Many are refered to as gods or even mighty god, but there is only one almighty god jehovah.

  • Mother Mary on Ephesians 1:4 - 11 years ago
    Ephesians 1:4 "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love." Christians understand that we can't be a holy people without the indwelling presence of the Holy Ghost nor can we be a loving people without God's Spirit because it's He who sheds His love abroad within our hearts ( Romans 5:5). God chose to have a holy people for the good pleaure of His will. The Godhead determined before the foundation of the world that the people of God would be holy and without blame before Him in love to show forth His grace to the world. The criteria for being His chosen is "To Have Faith In His word" according to John 1:14. Only believers will be partakers of the Son-ship ( Philippians 2:15)( Matthew 5:10). The plan for salvation was also established before the foundation of the world that whosoever repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to make them into the image and likeness of Christ and endure unto death in His truth and righteousness, shall be partakers of the heavenly calling and receive adoption as the Sons of God. Ephesians 1:4 is most effective when we incorporate verses 5-14. (I have a book coming soon please subscribe).

    @Rosalina

    Lucifer is one of three archangels mentioned in Scripture. He was created by God just as all angels were, but his role was different from the other angelic hosts. Lucifer was referred to as the 'covering angel.' Just as the cherubim covered the mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant, Lucifer was established by God to be the angel of worship, one whose ministry surrounded the heart of heaven. Lucifer was created to dwell eternally in the throne room of heaven, in the very presence of God ( Ezekiel 28:14). John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. God is a spirit! God did not have sex to reproduce...
