Joy, I think that the transfiguration represented Jesus in the future Kingdom of God that He will rule over, as it says His countenance was altered, and His raiment was white and glistening. Moses and Elijah appeared in glory also, representing the Kingdom when they will be resurrected. Moses, representing the Law which only led to death, died and was buried on the mount. Elijah 's death is not recorded in Scripture. So the entire vision represents the future Kingdom, when Christ is King, and those who have died and are resurrected rep. by Moses , and those who are alive at His coming, and never have to die rep. by Elijah .
Jesus took His disciples privately to the desert & still the people knew it & followed Him & He preached the kingdom of God & Healed All that needed Healing. To me The Kingdom of God is LOVE & in Heaven there exists No SICKNESS. We as Christians must DO the same TODAY!
"Jesus Christ[& His disciples of all ages]are the same yesterday, today & forever." We Christian[ALL]are to preach the Gospel & Heal everywhere & everyone!
Luke 9: 27-36 and Mark 9:1-9 answers Matt. 16:28 in that this was fulfilled six days afterwards where Peter, James, and John ("some standing here") got to witness Jesus coming (Strongs G2064 verb used for BOTH arriving and returning ALSO metaphor for SHOWING ITSELF)i.e Jesus SHOWING HIMSELF/REVEALED IN TRANSFIGURATION with Moses and Elijah on the Mountain.
ALSO, biblically, the meaning of 'the kingdom of G-d' FAR MORE THAN the elementary idea of a physical gov't.
I read online that in 3 of the Gospels, Jesus' words were followed by the transfiguration. Before I read this, I re-read the Bible's previous veres to read of how many of his disciples to whom he spoke. I thought perhaps he meant that seeing the kingdom of God referred to his death (and immediate ensuing events) applied to some, but not all, of the disciples. In this case, I thought he meant at least 1 disciple-Judas- would not live to see the kingdom of God.I have not done much reading about it , which is why I did an online search.
This text tell me that I must deny the world that is the flesh/worldly possessions and follow Jesus(the church). To take up your cross is to adhere to your responsibilities as a house priest. To lead your family in righteousness and to do the will of God. Stay within the rules and regulations of your church which is their to protect you.
Vs. 23 To take up your cross daily, is to walk as Jesus walked, to talk as Jesus talked, to love as Jesus loved, to have comp***ion s Jesus have comp***ion, to forgive as Jesus forgives, to suffer long as Jesus long for us, to be forbearing to your neighbors as Jesus is forbearing to you, you get the picture? It also means that we are to believe and RECIEVE what Jesus did on the CROSS FOR US.Jesus message in ch 9 is liken unto other messages that you will find in all the PARABLES in Matt., Mark, and LUKE, also ch 5 of Matt. For example; we are commanded to love those who hate us, bless those who curse us, pray for those who use us and percecute us. This command goes against the grain doesn't it? you need the HOLY SPIRIT DWELLING IN YOU IN ORDER TO DO THIS, THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD. The Bible tells us that if we don't have the spirit of God dwelling in you, you are none of His.
My dog typed in 9*26 and I will read today. It's another beautiful day outside as well. I am grateful to have stumbled on this. I was considering starting an anti-depressant- again. I may try reading instead. I feel good. Don't know what this 9:26 means to me yet. Everyone...read if you can and to others!
Follow Jesus daily, there will be times when things are not right, and you know this is not God’s way for you; yet still trust God in all ways, the good, the bad and the ugly.
I believe that this verse has not yet been fully understood. To say come after me, and then say follow me is redundant. After much meditation and prayer about this particular scripture, it was revealed to me by the Holy Spirit, that what our Lord is saying is "if any man will be my successor in the earth, let him deny himself and live as I lived".
What strikes or hits me is that, this word is real! Do what it say, and watch God do what he says! Verse 30, for example, they would none of my counsel, they despised all my reproofs. But do this and listen to God’s word, then watch your owns ways change. But you have to do this with your heart! Because this is what God looks at, and takes seriously. Verse 31, therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own wickedness! Verse 23, thus saith God, turn you at my reproof (counsel)! Behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you! Do this, and see God really lead you and guide you and tell you more than what the people go to church or worship building know. Because you are his people and he is your God through Jesus Christ! If your heart troubles you, God is greater than our heart and knows all things, but there is no man, stepping up then goes back, such an one is not fit for the kingdom of God ( Luke 9:62)! Or if any man draws back, God's soul have no more pleasure in him ( Hebrews 10:38). I know people think we should try to live the bible as best we can, but God said, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds or comes forth out of the mouth of God ( Deuteronomy 8:3, Mark 4:4, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4). God is not playing with us when he came through Jesus Christ! God is with us for truth and righteousness, and to heal and raise us from the dead. Because his enemies are real, God through Jesus Christ also is real! But there are more of the enemy then of the truth or spirit of God! Because the enemy deceives us with the fancy, glittery things, and the things that are pleasing to the eyes, to trick us, and this he does well, but for destruction and hell! God sent his son servant here to deliver us from the fallen spirits, and to raise us up with truth and healing and strength. But many despise God’s wisdom, and rather believe the or a lie ( Romans 1:23), but while we stop and believe the lie, God keeps moving and leaves us behind, and says; unless you repent, you shall likewise perish ( Luke 13:3). My name is David Brown I'm living true witness, because Jesus Christ made me so, and to expose the lie and lay the truth, even if no-one wants to hear it!
@ doris comment on verse 28-36: 1. these verses is giving the reader a glimpse at the great tribulation period and 2nd advent as we find in mathew 17:1-13. 2. these two witnesses can also be found in revelation 11:3-12. 3. as you read the revelation account of these witnesses you will notice verse 6 will give a detail description of identification of who they are from the old testament account of the miracles they performed. 4. in revelation 11:4 the 2 olive trees represents the miracle of eternal life (olive oil=holy spirit), and the 2 candlesticks represents the true church ( revelation 1:20) that is responsible for giving out the gospel of salvation.
it appears to me that Hebrews1 was written to encorage the Jewish people who had beome Christan, not to go back, and to reaffrim that Chirst is God's son in whom God is well pleased with and to hear him, according to Luke 9:35 and to saty the course because in due season they will be rewarded. which also applies to us today to take up our corss and fight the good fight of faith which sometimes will be diffcult, but saty on course, so that in the end we will receive that MANSION ROBE AND a CROWN.
I am 92 years old, Looking back on life God has enabled us to do allthings through Christ our LORD, Prayer faith is what it takes,
This is the answer. You receive not because you ask not, ask anything in my nam you will receive it. Blessed be the Lord.

I am leaving in a single room with my wife and our two sons,as much as the room is very small to fit our family, Luke 9:58 is one of the verses in the Bible that give me courage on how my Lord left his glory in heaven and came on earth to be homeless that i may have a home to belong(Heaven)and a room to stay, yet he had no were to lay his head. Dear friend, have you yet come to Jesus for Salvation? For he said except a man be born again,he can not see the kingdom of heaven( John 3:3).You must be born again.
they departed (meaning you need to go out to the people and don't be a home body person), going out to the towns, (not just their neighborhood) healing everywhere (whereever they were led and to whomever believed on the power of healing). Healing is a miracle that can't be explained by any person including physicians. They will be astonished because it doesn't line up with science or theory. Amen to God.
Powerfull and very straight forward. It makes u 2 b more apostolic&prophetic in ur walk with Christ Jesus.I personaly love doctor luke his outstanding especially chpt.9
Joe: to answer your question I have to say "No, I don't believe in the word Trinity", however "I do believe in Jesus", but not as the Son of God, but as a divine prophet.
You see the phrase Son of God is not literal but metaphorical as shown in the following verses used in Exodus 4:22. God was speaking to prophet Moses, "Than you will tell him, This is what the lord says",
Israel (Jacob) is my first born Son". "I commanded you, Let my Son go so he can worship me, but since you have refused I will now kill your your first born son".
Also in 2 Samuel 7:14 God is speaking of David; " I will be his Father and he will be my Son". Psalm 2:7 The King proclaims the Lords degree, "The Lord said unto me" " You are my Son,today I have become your Father"
Again in 1 Chronicles 22:10 God was speaking about the Son of Solomon. " He is the one who will build a temple to honor my name. He will be my Son and I will be his Father".
I have read many verses in the Bible where signifies love, affection and nearness to God which does not only apply to Jesus. In Luke 4:41 Jesus refused to be called the Son of God. Many who were possessed with demons, and the demons came out at his command shouting, "You are the Son of God", but because they knew he was the Messiah he rebuked them and refused to let them speak". Luke 9:18 Jesus asked his disciples, "who do people say I am". Luke 9:20-21,22 "Than who do you say I am" Peter replied "You are the Messiah, sent by God". Jesus warned his disciples not to tell anyone who he was saying "The Son of man must suffer many terrible things".
As we read in Acts 9:20 It was Paul, who never met Jesus preached in the synagogues saying "He is indeed the Son of God".
In Mathew 5:17-18
Jesus announced “Don’t misunderstand why I have come, I did not come to abolish the law of Moses, or the writings of the prophets, No I came to accomplish their purpose.”
I think of this scripure is to not to think of yourself anymore than you used to,living the life with JESUS TAKING UP THE CROSS is letting GOD know that you really need him,and that you are ready to live the life that he has given you proving yourself that you can do all things through Christ that strengthen you.
