Read all the Gospels; particularly the Book of Luke, about Mary's participation. She was a chosen vessel.
Everybody on earth is born into sin. That is why we need a Savior who can wipe that sin as far as the East is from the west. God is Holy and cannot look on sin! That's why the Savior was born.
I believe Jesus had the same mother and Father as the first Adam.
1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Jesus is called the last Adam.
Christ is likened to the folowing
Hebrews Chapter 7
1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
no earthly mother or Father
Luke 12:1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
Matthew Chapter 16:11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake [it] not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
12 Then understood they how that he bade [them] not beware of the LEAVEN leaven of bread, but of the DOCTRINE doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Matthew 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the HYPOCRITES hypocrites do in the SYNAGOGUES synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Matthew 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. ...ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
The Pharisee Jews would talk the talk and not walk the walk.
Matthew 23:4 For they (Pharisees) bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
We know this side of the Cross that this is impossible for man, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
We, in Christ have His impuded (credited) Righteousness as a Gift of His Grace.
Have you accepted His Gift?
Blessings and Happy Father's Day all,
Ken
So, these religious leaders prided themselves in their knowledge of the Law & their authority to impose it, as well as their extra laws upon the people. They also loved to be seen by others & receive the praises of the people, etc. (you can read all about it in Mt 23). Jesus, in Mt 5:20, references these ungodly traits & acts by these leaders by telling his disciples, 'don't behave like those Jewish leaders who think themselves as the epitomy of righteousness, but rather you must behave in the manner prescribed by God'.
The apostle Paul also speaks of this in Rom 10:1-5, saying that Israel (because of these leaders) 'have a zeal of God but not according to knowledge; being ignorant of God's righteousness & going about to establish their own righteousness'. And what was the difference between them? They were sticklers for the law & added their own laws as well. God's righteousness is based purely on Faith & that through Jesus Christ, whom the leaders rejected ( Rom 10:8-12). No one coming in the strength of the Law can be saved: only those coming in faith. See Heb 11 for a great list of Faith Heroes, who were commended for their faith in action (righteousness) that went far beyond the Law.
Matthew 5:2-3 KJV
(2) And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
(3) Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The good ground.the honest and good heartshall hear the Word and keep it and bring forth the fruit of righteousness towards His teaching of the Word of God.
Luke 8:15-16 KJV
(15) But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
The earth shall bring forth "grass"that is, peace within the heart. The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. They will act in the wisdom that descends from above and not in that earthly, devilish wisdom that is from below the Heaven.
James 3:18 KJV
(18) And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
The herb yielding seed after his kind is faith in what they hear Him saying. There are different degrees of faith. The fruit tree yielding fruit whose seed is in itself is the kingdom of God within us that can grow into a great tree. We are to be His planting of the trees of His righteousness.
Luke 13:18-19 KJV
(18) Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?
(19) It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.
The seed within us is able to save our souls but we must be "dry" within the heart of all superfluity of naughtiness that overflows the heart in words. We must be doers of His Word.
James 1:21 KJV
(21) Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
God called the "dry" land Earth as the meek shall inherit the earth. The dry, meek heart shall be dried of the waters of strife as they will humbly hear the opening up of His mouth that will teach us. He will open up the Scriptures to our hearing ears and we are to take heed on how we hear for we shall be given more.
Matthew 5:2 KJV
(2) And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Happy are the meek for they shall inherit the Earth as they shall hear HIs teaching humbly. The "dry" heart shall be dried of all evil and evil speaking....the waters of strife. God called the dry land "Earth" for the meek shall inherit the earth.
Matthew 5:5 KJV
(5) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
But the gathering of the waters are people who will resist what they hear and don't understand as the "raging waves of the sea" foaming out their own shame as they speak a multiple amount/superfluity of evil words in their envy and strife. The wicked shall not understand Him as the "blackness of darkness" is reserved for them.
Jude 1:13 KJV
(13) Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
The wicked are like the troubled sea when it cannot rest whose waters cast up mire and dirt (as they will speak multiple evil words in their contention of His teaching). There is no peace to the wicked.
Isaiah 57:18-21 KJV
(18) I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.
(19) I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.
(20) But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
(21) There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Hello, I'm not sure who told you that, but that doesn't come from God and isn't Biblical or true. The father of lies (satan) loves distorting the minds of Christians and encouraging them to spread falsehoods to others. Even though Christians are saved by grace sin is a big deal and should be avoided at nearly all costs. John 14:15, Matthew 5:29-30. Matthew 7:16-27, Matthew 7:26-27, Galatians 5:17, Hebrews 10:26.
God bless you my dear
Sounds like what I wrote had no affect so I don't believe discussing further will be fruitful. You asked where the phrase 'hate the sin, love the sinner' is in the Bible- I didn't say that was in the Bible, but it summarizes what the Bible says. Loving others is everywhere throughout the Bible, including the 2nd greatest commandment. The phrase "So we should love satanists who follow satan?" isn't in the Bible either. But the answer is yes, Jesus says to love your neighbor (everyone) as they are made in God's image, not the sin or their evil choices.
I will end the discussion with this verse. It's out of Jesus's mouth and I'm not one to argue with Jesus. God bless...
Matthew 5:43-48
So, all these Laws, including those that applied to their ceremonies, sacrifices & moral behaviour, were given as a temporary measure as God planned for the future when His Son, Jesus Christ, would come into the World to be the Perfect & Final Sacrifice for mankind's sins ( Rom 5:6). Also read Romans 8:3.
Then what you're reading in Mt 5, is Jesus saying that He had come to fulfil God's Laws: He fulfilled prophecy given about Him & alone could completely obey God's Laws & therefore would never need to sacrifice for Himself, simply because he never sinned. In fact, His Love was so great for us, that He willingly became the sacrifice in death in our stead - for our sins: He became our Substitute, our Saviour to save us from sin's penalty which is eternal death. So, if Jesus perfectly fulfilled God's Laws & became our Sacrifice, then all who believe in Him through His Blood, are also now freed from the curse of the Law ( Gal 3:13). In other words, if we still want to obey the 'old Law' to satisfy God or contribute to God accepting us, then Christ's death is counted as nothing. However, Rom 8:4 says, that "the Righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us"; the letter of the Law failed, but the Law of the Life giving Spirit (8:2) is put in our hearts to help us correctly obey God.
Jesus already said what happens to people who are inactive, who do nothing, who blaspheme, who follow the world, who use grace as an excuse to sin as much as possible Matthew 7:21-23. Jesus says if you love him, then keep his commandments. John 14:15. If you don't keep them, you don't love him. If you don't love him and don't follow him, is it likely you'll be invited to spend eternity with him in heaven? Jesus warned his followers repeatedly through parables that most people will go to hell. It's interesting how some Christians are trying to claim sin is okay, that it doesn't matter and that it's wrong to say it's wrong. Satan is the great deceiver and even works within the community of believers to spread his lies. It's clear what Jesus already said, so I'm going to believe and follow him and his words, not the words of man.
James 2 and Romans 6 explain this.
Note that this is my belief through years of Bible study and prayer and you will have other Christians claim otherwise. I already know all their arguments and find them unbiblical. God bless...
Just as those who want forgiveness from the Savior, must forgive those that have trespassed against them!
Don't forget, we are to strive to be Christ-like; mercy and forgiveness are attributes of Jesus Christ.
