I believe what this means is to allow God's righteouness that is Christ Jesus to be the one to satisfy our every need.In every good thing we seek to do as we know grace abounds. Our God is gracious and abounding in love and He watches His word to perform it.Every desire in us God created so its a must to be fulfilled by God alone. The God in us the Holy Spirit.

what is the bushel and what is the candlestick? Romans 8 describes how we each choose to walk either after the flesh or the Spirit. The flesh conceals the manifested Glory of God and the Spirit reveals love joy peace long suffering gentleness goodness temperance and faith from which the light that shines like a lighthouse to ships in a storm we will shine so to lead others to Jesus

Mathew 5:16 -- 1 . ITS A NATURE THING: We need to understand that God is Light 1John 1:5 so if we say that we have comunion with Him we also need to be light. it's a natural thing to be the same as, or to have the same character as. 1Peter 1:16 our father is holy so we need to be holy, our father is light so we need to be light. 2 . THE LIGHT IS ALSO FOR THE UNBELIEVERS: "let your light shine before man, so that they may see your good works". This goes on to be self explanatory, people will only want to follow you, or even want to be like you when they see in you the light, that your different than they are and that the difference come precisely from being light, and them from being slaves broken down into darkness. normally when some one is in darkness what they most want and need is light, so we know that the world lives in darkness with out Christ and so the need to be that light that the world needs.

  • Don on Matthew 5:18 - 10 years ago
Christ is telling the self righteous Pharisees, and Sadducee to stop ridiculing, and taxing the hard-working people for braking the- Hand-washing, Working on the Sabbath, and "Corbin laws" - Telling them God's will is to give all your tithe to their churches, and let your elderly poor parents die early because of their evil sins. The S P's Church Statutes, and Ordinances are not of God!!! But our Heavenly Father's 10 Commandments, and Health Laws still, and always will be in effect. Jesus didn't come to change one "period" or "Crossing of a "T" to His Dad's Laws. So obey them, and not man's.
  • Joel on Matthew 5:16 - 10 years ago
OBEDIENCE!!! Be obedient to what God expects of you and you will shine in this dark place our world. You should never have to tell others that your a Christian, they should be able to see Christ radiate through your heart, mind and soul. If they dont, they have veils over their eyes. The bible says those who are in the dark love the dark, lest they be exposed by the light. Let your light shine....AMEN!
  • Lloyd on Matthew 5:28 - 10 years ago
This is a sin "from " and "of " the heart. "From " meaning when a man looks on a woman and prepares to be with that woman with a motive and intention to have sex. "Of " meaning that the very presence of this sin is a fruit from the heart, or condition of the heart. Appreciating beauty is not the same. Be careful though. The devil loves to deceive the Christian. To side track him or her away from God 's gental nudges of Holy Spirit. First, in guilt and condemnation. Which is from a natural law built into all flesh. Second, to try to corrupt the mind by actually try to tempt us by getting the apple of our eye redirected from off of God 's Word unto the things of the world.

  • Rev. Tim George on Matthew 5:22 - 10 years ago
We must remember the Hebrew word for Raca is Chacha, which means worthless. So Jesus is telling us that if we get angry, and call our brother or sister this term, then we are in danger of the judgment. If we call our brother a fool, then we are in danger of Hell fire. The Greek word for Hell is Gehenna which was a valley in Hinnom where the Jews word burn their garbage. This is a sign of the fires of Hell in the final judgment. So guard your heart, and be angry, but sin not.

  • Joseph Bongilu on Matthew 5:17 - 10 years ago
Its clearly seen here that Jesus did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill. In what way? He ended the law by giving himself, thus ended completing its purpose when He cried out " It is finished ".you dont have to wait for heaven and earth to pass away then these things be fulfilled. It all fulfilled in HIM. Therefore who ever tried to uphold the law and the prophets ARE FALLEN FROM GRACE.
