I do agree with Charles to an extent. The 7 churches definitely speaks of people today. Not so much as different generations but different types of people living in every generation. You will find some of every one of those churches in this day and age as well as in the past.
  • CHARLES ROBERT NORTHUP on Revelation 3 - 8 years ago
I perceive thru the Spirit that the seven Churches are seven periods or generations of the Church that depicted the condition of their times, and can be used to tell how close the end is,by comparing our lifestyle to the correct Church,(of the 7),spoken of in Rev..

Paula Muncey that verse is for those that wait for the true CHRIST. Many Christians will go with the world when the first false messiah shows up with supernatural powers. Satan will deceive the world with power and looking like the Lamb but he is the dragon speaking lies with twisting the scriptures. And that is not hard to do with the preachers we have today helping him and getting the people ready for Satans deception.

Look at Revelation 3:10 again. In the Greek the word keep means to guard from loss or injury. The word from means the point in time when an action begins. So we could understand this verse to mean guarding from injury starting at the hour of temptation. In other words, one could actually understand this verse to mean that God protects His people during the Tribulation.

I find it fascinating intriguing and simply wonderful. Jesus speaks about the hour that the world will be tried. Revalation 3:10.

Geoff when you see the world worshipping the false Christ that comes first as he sits claiming to be God you can ask the ones being delivered up and they will be able to tell you when the true Christ will come or you can wait until Satan as instead of Christ kills the two witnesses and displays them in the streets so all can see and just think, well, it's gonna be 3 days and the 7th trump will sound and Christ will return.

God 's word speaks for itself: Patience G5281 steadfastness, endurance, patience. The exact same Greek word used in Rev 13:10 and 14:12. Keep G5083 tereo to guard, to attend to carefully, to observe, to keep one in the state he is in. From G1537 Ek from, away from, out, with denoting the place of origin. Put this phrase together and Jesus is saying "because your faith has already endured and persevered and you haven 't denied my ance meaning they had been tempted to do so I will guard your faith during the hour of temptation trial great tribulation, to come upon and try the whole world. " Look at John 17:15 and you will see the exact same Greek phrase tereo ek. In that verse it 's obvious Jesus meant to protect his apostles while here on earth from the evil. He explicitly said he didn 't want to remove them. So the exact same Greek phrase has to be interpreted in the exact same way.

Quite interesting. Our God is a mighty God.

Verse 3: - thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee - implies that those watching WILL know the hour. What Jesus Christ said here conflicts with what he told his Apostles in Jerusalem in Matthew 24:36 - But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. - Does Jesus Christ now know the hour himself and will reveal it to those watching? Does Jesus Christ now know the hour because he was counted worthy to open the scroll mentioned in Revelation Chapter 5:2 ? The important thing to get from this is that some people WILL know the hour!

I believe that the open door is door of opportunity for the gospel to flourish as a laborer in the Lord 's Harvest. I believe that the mention of "little strength " is not a reproof. as what one commentary stated, but a commendation of meekness and humility in the little human strength that the laborers of the Harvest has, such as they are shunned by the "big and mighty church fellowships whose so called servants of Christ pastors are purely HIRELINGS " of that they as a congregation is not mighty in number but just a measly number thus little corporate strength humanly speaking, but it is obvious here that God is their strength because God found them perfect before his eyes, or did not find any fault with them..

It is very important to hear and listen to the word of God and invite the Holy Spirit at the Church in order for him to take over the crowd. Once Jesus is in the mids of the crowd we will see his Glory. From this words we recieved peace, joy, healing and life in abundance. Thanks to Jesus and praised him for he is worthy to be praised. amen

the word lukewarm is just what it seems, it 's not hot or cold. But if you are hot, in other words full of sprit you are close to God, but if you 're cold towards God and you know it, then you start trying to get back in God 's grace, but if you 're lukewarm you are happy and content to set in the middle and not try to get closer to God.

I don 't think this verse is talking about being a Jew or not. I think it is referring to people who say they are Christians and yet they live non Christian lives. Some churches and people are not in accordance to the New Testament teaching. The church of Phyladelphia is a small church but has kept the faith . It is this type of church that Jesus wants to rapture when He comes.
  • Guy Anchor on Revelation 3:9 - 9 years ago
Many people are trying to pass off as being Jews and have even had their names written in the book that was to remain of Pure Blood. They can fool us. They can fool themselves but they cannot fool God
  • John on Revelation 3:16 - 9 years ago
lukewarm is not category of Christian but rather a expression used to describe people who think they can get saved by grace thru faith and maintained their salvation thru the works of the law. 2000 years ago, the terms hot for Christ or cold for Christ didn 't even exist. and why would the "cold Christian " be better in the eyes of the Lord than the lukewarm Christian? seems to me the hot is better , the lukewarm is good and the cold is bad, according to the religious leaders definition.

Rev.3:12,21 both speak of the Overcomers, that 's Us, the ones that are abiding in Christ. So be encouraged for it doesn 't matter if you are insignificant right now and no one notices you or your hard work. Jesus 's promise, is to reposition us as Pillars in His house and privilege us to sit on His Throne. We will be labled with New God ordained "brand names ". So be encouraged. Our current difficulties cannot be compared with HIS GLORY that we are about to experience. Amen.

Verse 3 of this chapter is a clear warning to all of us reborn Christians. This is a warning before the tribulation comes. We have to keep His Word and have full faith in Him, not to listen to new doctrines and teachings that have already entered into many churches. Only then He will keep us from the hour of temptation which will come to the whole world. I believe He is referring here to Rapture, of the Church. That proves that He will keep us away from the hour of temptation. So my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, stay an live according to the Word and don 't ever lose faith in Him. Keep smiling in every situation because our Savor is coming soon, sooner than we can think.
  • Barry Amundsen on Revelation 3:10 - 9 years ago
Jesus endured the cross and drank the cup of God 's punishment for all mankind 's sins and died then rose again from death for us all. We are saved by our faith and continued confidence in Jesus ' finished work for us. Keeping the word of His endurance is maintaining a confidence in that finished work for you and trusting God to save you because of His covenant promise to do so. Jesus is once again confirming in this verse that those who hold on to their confidence in His finished work on the cross will be saved even from the hour of the tribulation period. He does not say that He will be with or guide or protect you through the hour as some are suggesting but keeping from the hour all together requires removal of the faithful believer before the hour can begin. It is not the patient waiting or enduring of US that Jesus promises to reward but our continued confidence in HIS endurance on our behalf that we KEEP the word of and for doing this He rewards all who do it with the promise of removal before the tribulation period starts. NOT keeping the word of His endurance would be to allow yourself to return to any false belief concerning His sacrifice for you. For example returning to a belief that keeping the law will save you would be an example of not keeping the word of His endurance. All who do this type of thing are excluded from His promise to be ruptured before the trib.

Jesus is the Son of the Living God who is perfect obedience to the Holy Father. Jesus is the only mediator between man and to God. Jesus is the only gateway for us to have access to heaven as the scripture says He is the way the truth and the life no man comes to the Father except thru me. Whatever Jesus spake all words comes from the Father who have sent him, The Holy Father, Holy Spirit and the Son are in one. The same spirit, same words of wisdom. Because of Jesus perfect obedience to the Holy Father, Our Heavenly Father declare the word that there is no other above name is Jesus. Jesus fullfill the scriptures of what God has commanded him. Our Father has given a full authority into Jesus hands that 's why Jesus can forgive sins, heal the sick and a Savior to us all. Jesus is our Lord and God

The Body of Christ, both the dead in Christ and those alive will be caught away together as a complete Bride, not split by some the dead escaping the tribulation while others the alive that go thru half or all of the 7 year tribulation. As it was with Noah, the whole family of the righteous escapes. This shows how great is the love of God.

Born again believers will not be here during the Tribulation. We must always strive to take the Scripture in context. Greek "peirasmos, " trial temptation i.e. "hour of temptation " which comes upon the whole world. "ek ", "out of " enforces this point of view. Also, see Rev.3 5, 3:12, 3:16. Context is "out of. " "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore, comfort one another with these words. " I Thessalonians 4:16-18. In any event, no matter what your point of view, as long as you 're a repentant person who has placed their faith trust in Jesus Christ, we 'll all be together in our Lord 's presence at some point. Amen.
