Dear Melissa the bible clearly teaches against sin. whether it be gay or lesbian, sin is sin. what shall we say then, shall we continue in sin that grace may abound, God forbid. i didn't say that Paul did. i love all people of sin , i just hate sin. God hates all sin and yes the old testament was to Gods people but is applicable to us as well. God destroyed people in the old testament because of this sin. would not the same rule apply to us today?

Romans 1 is speaking of idolatry not homosexuality. Even the women left the natural use, does not mean they became lesbians, it means they were allowing men in the pagan temple of the Goddess Diana of Rome to sodomize them because that's what the goddess required, and they believed it drew them closet to the goddess. For they worship the creature . the creature was the goddess Diana- notice the word worship= idolatry. The men visiting the pagan temple were not gay, they did what the did because they believed it drew them closer to the goddess. 2. Notice paul here is addressing the church @ Rome about christians who once knew the truth and went back to their idol worshipping ways, Paul is not speaking to or about pagans, he is speaking about those who once knew the truth and departed from it. I laugh at how christians mis-quote the bible. 3. Old testament is not Christianity, Leviticus was written to jews not to christians. It's amazing how christians cherry pick the bible to bash homosexuals. Notice they never speak of if u were not a virgin upon marrying you were stoned to death, we don't sacrifice lambs anymore either. I am done with this. I got dizzy trying to explain this.
  • The Woes that should be given our attention - In Reply on Romans 1:32 - 5 years ago
    Isaiah 5

20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

    >These kind of statements reveal the long suffering character of God. If we can wrap our minds around it; first we must change ourselves. Hallelujah, because we have the mind of Christ, and we have the Holy Spirit to be our Helper.

We know what He cares about, and we can add that knowledge in when we are witnessing to the unsaved.

By prayer to the Lord of the Harvest, we don't have to cold-contact , evil, violent people. He will bring those who are ready to hear the Gospel... who is Jesus.

We are now living in a day that right is wrong and wrong is right and people find pleasure in the sins of others rather than stand up against it. we as Christians are shepherds of the flock and are to stand up against the wolves of the world. stand up stand up for Jesus. This starts at home, then out into the world.

My confession of faith on Repentance is the same as written here:

"We believe in a true conversion, justification and new birth. In a true conversion there is sincere sorrow for sin and transgression, and condemnation thereof. The justification is obtained through conversion when believing upon the wrought- righteousness of Christ, becoming liberated from the debt of sin and judgement, whereby we are "born again" and renewed unto the image and nature of God through the renewing of the Holy Ghost."

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

John 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be BORN AGAIN, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

US is the LET US in 2 of the Godhead scriptures. They were discussing a situation amongst themselves: 3 Persons in the Godhead: Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

    Romans 1:20

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

    Colossians 2:9

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

    Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7; 1 John 5:7

    John 10:30 and Acts 17: 27-30

Write those down. It comes up in conversation a lot.

But my personal conviction is not to wear the masks. I keep my distance as that is my personal way anyway but I have ministered to, touched hugged strangers, including unbathed homeless, in these days.

    2 Corinthian 3:14-18

    Romans 1:17

I have had to face much opposition but I have to obey my LORD & follow HIM.

Romans 1:16-17 is often used as the key verses to summarize the book of Romans. Paul declares boldly why he is not ashamed of the gospel about Jesus that he preaches around the world. This message is nothing less than the power of God for everyone who believes, both Jews and Gentiles. It is about being declared righteous by God because of our faith in Him. Paul put the same idea this way in Philippians 3:8-9: "that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith." This is God's gospel: God's "good news" for humanity. Paul quotes Habakkuk 2:4 to show this is not a new idea: "The righteous shall live by his faith."

Remember Paul was on his way to persecute Christians when Jesus said to Simon "why do you persecute me Jesus light so bright it blinded him for 3 days and his heart was change in an instant, therefore hypocrisy is out of the picture since Jesus forgave him on the spot and Jesus renamed him Paul to show the change in his heart. So no he can't be a hipocrypt.

The question that James E. asks is a wonderful question. When I viewed his question, i immediately went to Romans 1:18-19. I reference Old Testament (The Book of Deuteronomy), when It comes to how God's free will gives us the ability to recognize HIM as KING, yet when we allow ignorance in, and become puffed up, HE turns us over to our self will, for a time. I believe when people ARE NOT in the Word of God, they can make up false statements.

Romans 1:26-27 (tap on this link)

The whole Book of Romans describes our present day realities of what we see happening all around us.

To choose to deny Gods existence shows that people are reprobate in their minds and hearts. Homosexuals where it says, "it's not meet", points to illness of their bodies.

  • WHAT DOES GOD LOOK LIKE - In Reply on Luke 14:26 - 5 years ago
God is Spirit. There are MANY scriptures on God being seen. If you read it slowly, you will see the description is in imagery.

Go get some pen & paper and write down these scriptures; then you can read them and picture God in your heart when you pray.

    John 1:18, John 6:46, John 5:37

    1 John 4:12, 1 John 3:6, 1 John 4:20

    1 Timothy 1:17, 1 Timothy 6:16

    Luke 1:31-32, Matthew 22, Romans 1:20

    Philippians 2, Hebrews 1:1-13,

    Colossians 1:15

    Deuteronomy 4:12, 15. Exodus 3:6

    Exodus 33:20-23

    Isaiah 38:11, Isaiah 64:4

    Job 9:11, Job 35:14, Job 23:8

This is a ps from me: if you have "pictures of God" (some artist imagined) in your home? You need to get rid of them,

According to Exodus 20. That's not a photograph of God and is considered to be a graven image. Crosses on the wall is ok, but not images.

I have 1 still life painting of a bowl of fruit and a pitcher of water. It makes me think of eating a meal with Jesus.

I neglected to mention above that the full list of objectionable behaviors in the latter half of Romans 1 is the result of the wrong choices initially made in verses 21-23. An evil root yields detestable fruit.
  • Bendito Palavra - In Reply on Romans 1 - 5 years ago
The truth here is ugly, but any that reject it do so to to their own peril. This isn't merely Paul's value judgment but is in fact God's assessment of the human condition. Any and all of us at our natural best are equally abominable in God's eyes and worthy of Hell forever. Paul even confesses this of himself ( 1 Timothy 1:15).

Yet God loves the vilest sinner and sent his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay for all our sins. He didn't come to affirm us sinners in our destructive death styles, but to redeem us and deliver us out of it. It's really not love that holds back from warning a sinner, who is already condemned, about the coming judgment ( John 3:18). I encourage you to keep reading Romans.

Stephende - it appears to me in Romans that Paul in showing that we are all under sin - Greeks, Jews, Gentiles - no one is perfect except Jesus (and that includes me and you). No one, is exempt. Paul is battling the Pharisee's who think they are exempt from the condemnation of a sinful nature, because of their man-made laws. However, like every Book and Chapter you need to read everything and not just stop at any place you want to stop, because so much is missed. That is like hanging your entire doctrine on one special verse. Romans was written as one letter to be read in its entirety at one time. Very few have the patience, or steadfastness for God, to even complete that one task. But, I would encourage you to try it, and see what the whole of the letter says.
  • Stephende on Romans 1 - 5 years ago
I find it difficult to hear Paul's attacks in this chapter. He implicates almost everyone on earth with his puritanical view and probably hypocritically himself. Did he ask firgiveness from the Jews whom he cruelly railed on for converting? He preaching is pedantic and obscure for interpretation of the scripture. He lacks empathy which clearly Jesus himself possesed. Yet Christians everywhere points to obscure passages to defend their heartless views against women, queer folk, and humanity at large as they cling to their narrow views and support a wholly unholy man who sits in the white house. Am I right? I know I am. Who will contest?

Ken, in answer to your questions:

    1. Luke 17:26-30 tells us in the last days before Jesus returns to Earth, things will go on as normal: just as they did in Lot's time. But all of a sudden God's Judgement will be poured out, as did happen to Sodom & Gomorrah, so the instruction to the Jews not to return back for their worldly goods (i.e. to preserve their lives).

    2. There are many references to homosexuality in both the Old & New Testaments. Some of these are: Leviticus 20:13 (& see other verses in this chapter about the detestable acts that God abhors; also Lev chap 18); Romans 1:24-28; 1 Corinthians 6:9; 1 Timothy 1:8-10.

In reference to wearing of make-up: even though passages such as 1 Timothy 2:9,10 & 1 Pet 3:3,4 speak about the wearing of respectable, godly apparel & not about putting on of make-up, there are references to it that associate it with harlotry when beauty had to be enhanced to allure the men: 2 Kings 9:30, Jeremiah 4:30. Leviticus 19:28 speaks about printing marks & cutting of flesh which what Israel must not do (as the heathen did).

The earth "became" (Hebrew: hayah) without form and void...that is, it became without the form of God's righteousness and void of the knowledge of God as all are not righteous and have turned away out of the Way of righteousness and none understand:

    Romans 3:10-12 KJV

    (10) As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

    (11) There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

    (12) They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Darkness was upon the face of the deep as mankind's foolish heart (all together) had become darkened:

    Romans 1:20-22 KJV

    (20) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

    (21) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

    (22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters....holy men of God speak (waters = tongues, languages, etc) as they are moved by the Holy Spirit.

    2 Peter 1:20-21 KJV

    (20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

    (21) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Kaden, if they repent and turn from their sin and ask forgiveness in Christ, then that is my opinion yes Bestiality and sodomy can be forgiven. But there comes a point in time when the Lord sears one's conscience with a hot iron. in other words the door of salvation is slammed shut and then nailed tight.

    1 Timothy Chapter 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

    2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Romans 1: 26 For this cause God GAVE THEM UP (gave up on them?) unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

    28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God GAVE THEM OVER to a REPROBATE reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

If the Holy Spirit convicts them, it is time to repent. When someone seeks and wants the Lord more than their sin they shall find the Lord.

I read some of it. I don't know where you live or what you face on a daily basis. I do know God cares about what offends us; because Jesus said offenses would come.

We choose, on daily basis, what we are willing to live for; and die for. Romans 1:20 clearly says that people are without EXCUSE. There is no way to justify doing things contrary to what the Bible says. It's not written in confusion and contrariness.

People always try to have Dominion over other men; women; no matter race, color, religion. God DID NOT give man / woman, dominion over people. And yet, since the beginning, that is what has happened throughout the history of time! It is sinful. We are without excuse. In sin, we turn away and do our own pleasure.

It's going to end badly. Look at United States: if we get rid of police enforcement; we are wide open for a form of martial laws.

Non-Christian people do not see this coming! Hot-headed and clueless. Wicked people in the shadows are orchestrating the progression of what is happening. Now is a time to pray for SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT; of the Wicked spirits that are the engine driving people to the end of this age. It's time to grab onto Jesus and not let go.

The Lord showed me Matthew 24: 2, 4, 11-13. I had only asked Him, how is USA with all its pride going to be made to BOW it's knee. Time to switch gears because we are running out of time!

The harvest is ripe and we are called to be His Workers. Load the Ark. How hard is that? Switch gears. We have go with the Gospel that is inside of us; written in our hearts!

Does Jesus love all those hothead people? Yep. If we preach...they will repent and pray the prayer. We can't sit this out in a foxhole ?!?!?

How the heck do we get Christians to change gears? Pray to the Lord of the Harvest! Don't you feel any urgency?

    Work the Prayer Request room.

    Forget Noah-ides. Irrelevant.

Trannys know what the Bible says: Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

    28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
