The only thing that I could do is cry for I felt condemnation and repentence for I know that these things I am guilty of. I truly thank God for being a God of forgiveness through grace and mercy. From this day forward I strive to please God with my entire being. Praise be to God!
  • John on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
At one time or another I have been tempted to do all the things Paul mentioned. I thank God through Christ for His mercy. Whithout it, where would I be.

What are the real issues with homosexuality then? Other then the fact you have interpretated and taken pieces of the bible that support your bigotry and ignored other chunks.

The real issue with homosexuality is those who discriminate against it...that is you robert.

Also yes the word homophobe is flawed. I prefer sexualist. Which is what you are.
  • Robert on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
Kevin, if you do not believe in my God and the Bible, why are you involved in this site and discussion. Are there not any pagan or nonreligious site that you can comment on? May God bless you!
  • Kevin Eric Kennedy on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
Please spare me any more e-mails. I don't believe in your God and I don't believe that the Bible is a divinely inspired text. And if I could give you a word of advice, it sounds as though you would do well to listen to your Savior and not be so judgemental and full of hatred toward those different from you.
  • Palm tree on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
I think paul was letting Rome know God was unplease in their ways, from their vainness to their homosexually,. He was letting the people know that God creation was good and very good but it is God who had created and not us. And Paul was saying we should be thankful, instead of vain wisdom!!! Sounds alot like these Days and time now.
  • Nanna on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
Kevin, ALL scripture is inspired by GOD. He directed Paul on what to write. It is very unfair if not Blasphemous to even insinuate that Paul may have lusted for other men!!!!
  • Anonymous on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
@kevin: the apostle paul is not a homophobe. he is simply pointing out that homosexuality is sin befor God. are you a sodomite? are you offended that God deems this behaviour an obomination? it seems that you hav a problem on your hands.
  • ROBERT on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
Kevin, what a great word homophobic is. That is another liberal smoke screen word to disguise the real issues involves. It implies that strait people are scared of homosexualism which is far from the truth. Homosexuals are the ones that need to be phobic. The Devil is real and he is waiting on you. What Bible are you reading from. It must be the one that the liberal agenda is writing.
  • Ted on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
Hey Kevin, it is plain that the scriptures are saying that homosexual behavior is sin, isn't it.
But please note that it is God speaking not a man and God does not have human frailties and phobias. As a matter of fact He does not fear anything, neither do His children.
Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Now seeing that it is God that is speaking, the question is, will you repent of your sins or will you continue in your destructive life style.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

  • Kevin on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
What a homophobic text! I wonder if Paul's obsession with same-sex love roots from any latent feelings he may have harbored within himself.
  • Ted on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
Dallas, salvation is free to us but it cost the Saviour great pain and anguish. If you receive salvation (eternal life) from God, the scripture is clear that you can not remove your salvation and the is no power that can take it away.(Rom.8:35,36)

My friend if you can loose salvation by disobedience to God I submit that there has never been a person saved more than a few days in this world.

Romans 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

Romans 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

Note that the apostle Paul had this struggle with the flesh as we all do. All of the great Christians of the past have admitted to the sins and failings that assail each of us and all have lost the battle at times, Praise God for the victories.

It is not that we become eternally sinless but that we become eternally forgiven. If you can loose it it wasn't very eternal at the beginning. I for one have ETERNAL LIFE.
  • Mild Bill on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
    Dallas,

The basis of being saved is that someone else does the saving, namely, Christ died for our sins. There is nothing of greater value to God than the death of his only begotten son. How do you suppose you can add any good work to complete, enhance, perfect or improve on what Christ has done?

Now having said that, it is understood, that a person who believes Christ has died for their sins, will be a changed person. There is an effort to abstain from sin and a repentent attitude should sin happen, not always perfect and sometimes backslidden. Born again means into the family of God. Some children are very well behaved and some undergo a change for the better thru the process of chastening. God chastens only his own children. Nowhere is there a teaching that you can become un-born again.

The apostle John wrote,"These things are written that you may know that you have eternal life". Eternal life does not mean sometimes, maybe or possibly if you are good enough.
  • Dallas on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
I love the Word of God. If only we could read it and share it and not use it to judge others. Jesus died for us. I cannot believe that with such a great sacrafice, if we do not live as He demands we should expect to still be considered saved. Salvation is free but if we do not serve the Lord as we should, we can loose it.
  • Capt. Benjamin Parry on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
It couldn't be clearer, than the nose on your face the Gospel of Jesus Christ is what it is TRUTH and that any and all forms of sin are ungodly

Those who sew by the flesh shall reap fleshly desires, for me John 3:16 says all
  • Ted on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
Tracey-Ann, you appear to be Mormon, excuse me if I'm wrong but they are one group that teaches what you said. On the other hand the Bible is clear that salvation is a gift from God and not earned by anyone.(Rom.6:23, Eph.2:8-9)

I agree 100% with Nioholas, we must preach the gospel, that is true love for your neighbour. Pray yes, but prayer without feet is dead.
  • Nicholas on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
@mike: nice sentimnts, i think ur heart is in the right place. but we need not pray for compassion on the lost but preach The Gospel for it is the power of God unto salvation. the compassion part was done on The Cross by Jesus Christ.
  • Mild Bill on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
    Tracy-Ann,

I agree with the first sentence of your statement, however, in reading the second sentence, I am not certain you get what Romans 1 is teaching. Paul tells us there that the gospel of Jesus Christ IS the power of God unto salvation. When we trust/believe the story of what Christ did for us in dying on the cross as "he bore our sins in his own body on the tree". We are saved at that moment, and for eternity. "The just shall live by faith", means that, the justified(those who accept the death of Jesus on the cross as payment for their sins, as God the father intended it to be), "shall live", here, now and forever, "by faith", by the belief that Christ did all the work of saving lost sinners by dying in our stead and paying a debt we could never pay. Christ was free of sin and only his sacrifice was acceptable payment for the sins of the world, "Behold the lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world", " He that hath the son hath life".
  • Tracy-Ann on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
Those who know the truth but refuse to acknowledge it or live accordingly face the wrath of God. Romans 1 teaches us that through faith and righteousness we will receive the power of God and in the end salvation.

1.Homosexuality is a Result of Rejecting the Revealed Creator.
    Rom. 1:18-25
These verses state plainly that God can be seen in His creation and that men choose rather to worship everything else.
They made gods of the animals and whatever they could make with their own hands.
They became fools. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Ps 14:1
    Rom. 1:26-28
So then the sin of homosexuality is the result of rejecting the Creator.
    Rom. 1:29-32
So then all sorts of sin follow this rejection of God.
    Romans 1:32

When satan desired to sift Peter like wheat, jesus said that He prayed for Peter. We need to do that for those that satan is desroying instead of condemning them or thier blood will be on our heads. Jerry, by your words I see that you understand salvation but pray for compassion for the lost. We all need the same grace.
  • Jerry on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
if you do not know if you are saved or not ask the one that does know,GOD!!!!!!!!!plus there is nowhere in the bible where GOD saved anyone twice.HE gets it right the first time.
  • Mike weisinger on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
If your're not sure if you are really saved then ask your neighbors. They know because your life-style will show it.God will take vengeance on those that "Obey not the gospel". In other places it says "believe" but the words are synonymous.James says "I'll show you what I believe (my faith) by my works".
  • Jerry on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
God does not turn a Christian over to a reprobate mind.we get chastened but he does not turn us over to a reprobate.we may stray away and get so ungodly that he sends us to an early grave, which is our fault not HIS.

The pain that homosexuality and sexual molestattion causes mankind for years, I was looking at a program yesterday where a 50 year old man was still weeping about an encounter with a gay man at the age of 11 and because it enrupted feelings in him that he did not understand he felt he was gay. What follow in his life was drug, alcohol abuse and violent behavior, his mother was also molested and so was I, it tears you apart spiritually and if not for the Holy Spirit I would not be relieved of the pain. Everyone I know that has sexually abuse as a child still continues to cry. This is why I know it is spiritual, there is no peace in it, pray to God to release you from the pain. You can not do it by yourself. For all those that have experience this I pray for you with love.

I don't believe in homosexuality man or woman
i believe in god word and it's talk about that.
i see that god made man and woman to be together
not sex of the same kind. thats what i think about that. now let me ask you all something tell me what you all think. if you had a 13yrs old girl & a 31 yrs old woman after her. well this woman is a preacher she said. she a pure devil trying to hide behide god well i got new thats not going to work. thats why many people don;t believe in god for people like her.
  • Ray lukas on Romans 1 - 14 years ago
Frank: I can see why you would think this at first.. But thankfully, this is not correct. What Paul is saying is that if you continue to stiff arm God’s prompting through the Holy Spirit you will dull and sear your conscience and awareness of him. Frank, God does not, cannot, and will not turn his back on you. That has never happened to a believer nor will it. Sometimes you just have to learn the hard way, and God will let you go down that path. No matter where you are, you can and will be forgiven, and cleansed, if you are willing to be. The “God, I messed up, I acknowledge what I have done is wrong in your eyes” prayer, will always lead you to a standing of righteousness in his eyes. No exception Frank.
