Paul put a lot of faith in Titus to leave him at Crete. Titus must have truly been a fervent, upright man in that day to stand up and tell the Cretians they needed to turn from their ways. America needs to turn from this Cretians Sodom and Gom... way. Where were the bold folks of God when our leaders decided to allow such immoralities today. Be bolder, preachers but live peacefully....

The bible is clear in titus that an elder has got to be a husband of one wife, 'husband of one wife ' these days we are seeing female elders, and bishops.. Which bible are we reading?

  • Jon Kombeng on Titus 1 - 10 years ago
Titus 1 encourages us all to stay focus and be devoted followers of Christ. It 's tough to be godly in a world that promotes selfishness and unrighteousness. However we have the advantage of the Christ strength in us to overcome.
  • DLT on Titus 1:1 - 10 years ago
I stopped reading at the first verse of Titus. That was the only book I went to. First time looking at site and mispelled words. Someone needs to proof read everything that was written. Going to a different one online.

  • Rick on Titus 1:10 - 10 years ago
This verse is telling us to hold steadfast as we represent Christ Those of the circumcision would nowadays represent the Atheist or non Christian looking to poke holes in those of the Christian faith We have to stay sober so we can direct people to Jesus instead of driving them away from Jesus Believe me I am trying hard to remove the hypocricies in my life Those who stand up for Jesus become a target The ends justify the means
  • Jeremy on Titus 1 - 11 years ago
Martha thats works salvation. You said "if you sin you will surely be cast in hell." If that is true then we would all be cast into hell. we are not saved by not sinning. Christians still sin. We are saved by placing our Faith in what CHRIST did on the cross of Calvary to pay for our sins and wash us in HIS own blood. God bless.
  • Indiglofish61 on Titus 1 - 11 years ago
I think if the churches would follow the instuctions on Titus and 1 Timothy that Paul instructed Timothy, they would be a truer light for Christ!!
  • Luvinga Abisai on Titus 1:12 - 11 years ago
People have ignored the value of the perfect and holy blood of Jesus the Christ and resorted to their own ways- ways that approve their desires to consulting and praying to the devils, the dead and and idols. But God the creator remains true and His sacrifice is live forever even the blood of JESUS CHRIST that no one should dishonor or ignore but desire to be cleansed with.
  • Martha on Titus 1 - 11 years ago
I think that God wants us to be Holy and live like the bible teaches. Our lives have to line up with what the Word of God teaches. God loves everyone but if you sin you will surely be cast in hell.
  • JANEEN on Bel and the Dragon 1 - 11 years ago
We automatically do not want to believe that these things are not true like the powers of darkness are not larger than life. We seem to forget that Leviathan is in Job 41 described as a huge sea monster as well as in other parts of the Bible. In Genesis 6 the angels mated with women and had giants and not all of them died. Those kids according to the Book of Enoch and the Neanderthal bones that have been found show that those kids were not normal. The Bible speaks of dragons over 16 times. Whether that was dinosaurs or something else we may never know. Apocrypha means hidden. These were hidden to be shown to a generation that would believe and when all these things would come back. Just DO NOT FALL TO THE GNOSTIC FOOLISHNESS! They were not put in the Bible because the knowledge of these books, though a good read, cannot save ones soul. Not because they are not true. I would be careful on what I say whether it is fake or not about these books. The old Rabbis that studied them believe they were real. If they are the true Word of God then they are Him Hebrews 10:7; John 1:1, 14 and we would be blaspheming if we said they were false Mark 3:28, 29. The Gnostic Books like Adam and Eve, Book of Judas, Mary Magdalene etc... the Rabbis did not believe were inspired by God. All scripture in the King James Version of the Holy Bible (along with the Book of Enoch) is inspired by God (2 Timothy3:16) who cannot lie Titus 1:2. God Bless in Jesus Name.

The word in the Hebrew is "old men" or elders, It is hard to believe that it is so ambiguously translated as to be "ancients". There is another Hebrew word for ancient, it is used of God and Jesus "ancient of days". The reign of Christ is accompanied by the agreement of the sun and moon who shine the more in recognition of this fact and will cease also in the same recognition. Evangelists ordain elders ( Titus 1:5), and elders oversee the congregations in the Kingdom of Christ. It is a great loss that this passage has not been accurately translated.

If God can forgive us that far in Christ, we should love him.
  • Shirlene on Titus 1:16 - 11 years ago
This scripture truly states how you can identify true worshippers of God and his son Jesus Christ. You have to have true respect of the bible as the word of God.
  • Chaplain dave on Titus 1 - 11 years ago
This chapter is not talking about traditions that do not affect doctrine, but instructs us to be discerning any idea that wars against our faith.
  • Deedee on Titus 1:14 - 12 years ago
I believe it includes Christmas trees/santa chunnukah.. All the Judaism, paganism and the Christian paganism..Santa is also a fable and Yeshua was not born during Christmas.

    @Maku,
A polygamist can sure believe and accept Jesus Christ as his lord and savior, and get saved.
However, in the light of this chapter, that one will not be entitled to leadership responsibilities, unless he demises with polygamy.
    God bless you.
  • Maku biswa on Titus 1 - 12 years ago
It is a good book. Can I get Titus 1:6 explained. Is it only elders and deacons should't have more than one wife or all Christians. If someone is a polygamist before conversion than what? Can such one believe in Jesus?
  • Timothy Wayne George on Titus 1 - 12 years ago
I thank the Lord that He restores my soul, and that even though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of all strong holds. To Cindy, ye we must confess our sin, and God is faithful and just to forgive us our sin, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Paul has given instruction about Elders, and they are to be blameless, the husband of one wife, not given to wine. We must be temperate in all things, and live a holy life. In Crete, the people were given to lying, and living unholy. God is light, and in him, there is no darkness. If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, the blood of Jesus will cleanse us of all sin. So walk in the light as children of God.
  • Cindy on Titus 1 - 12 years ago
Thank the Lord for instruction. I am so glad that we are not left to rule however we'd like, we have guidelines to use. On another note let's please remember that none of are above sin and all of us have not always been completely right with God so when someone admits to having been backslidden and has reconciled with God there isno need to throw that back in their face. I admire the honesty of this dear sister in Christ and God is pleased with her honesty. We are to confess our sin and ask forgiveness, right?
  • David on Titus 1:16 - 12 years ago
KJV all the way, no point in beating around the bush. You don't hear preaching on this nowadays. But the truth is good for the soul.

  • Ray R on John 1 - 13 years ago
Brief note from my notes in the introduction of the Gospel of John
Deity of Christ – Jesus means “Jehovah is Salvation” and Christ means “The Anointed One”. Titus 1:4 “To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus (Jehovah is Salvation) Christ (the Anointed One) our Savior.” Whenever you come across the word “LORD” in all capitals in the KJV it is God’s name “Jehovah”. Isa.43:1 “But now thus saith the LORD (Jehovah) that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.” Isa.43:3 “For I am the LORD (Jehovah) thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.” Isa.43:10-11 “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD (Jehovah), and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD (Jehovah); and beside me there is no saviour.”Isa.45:21-22 “Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD(Jehovah)? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Dt.32:39 “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.” Isa.7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”Isa.9:6 “For unto us (Israel) a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Matthew 1:23 “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Matthew 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS (Jehovah is Salvation): for he shall save his people from their sins.”
See I John 4:1-3 Notice vs 3 “By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus (Jehovah is Salvation) Christ (the Anointed One) has come in the flesh is of God” Jesus is not “a” God – He is GOD-Gen.1:1, Isa.43:10-11, Dt.32:39, I John 5:7 “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy [Spirit]: and these three are one” God is a TRINITY – God the Father, God the Word (who came in the flesh-Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit.

Unto the seed that hears the word and understands it and with sincerity keeps the word and brings forth fruit with patience, he obtains eternal life but the backsliding individual makes a mockery of the Christ by after tasting the holy and righteous word turns away to eat his own vomit putting the Lord to shame.
