    Theresa,

You completely missed my point. Sunday worship was already being practiced by Christians for 3 centuries before Constantine codified it, meaning sanctioned by the Roman government with protections for those who observed it.
  • Theresa A.Wood - In Reply on Genesis 49 - 2 years ago
    Just my point!

Constantine's, Order of a Cival Decree, NOT, GOD's COMMAND!

    Contantine was not, GOD!

Constantine Changed the DAY of WORSHIP!

NOT GOD, AS GOD says, He Sacntified the SABBATH and IT the SABBATH was HOLY!

We are to kept all the COMMANDMENTS, if we LOVE GOD! GOD does they changing in us. When we come to Him, as the ones He

    chooses!

Jesus, commanded us to LOVE one another, but he also Reminded us of the COMMANDMENTS!

Again, His WORD is on so Many LEVELS!

We start out as babes, and we grow in HIS WORD, long as we stay in it and we talk to HIM and listen to HIM, as Abraham did!

    GOD BLESS!

    Still take in mind:

    John 1:1

    GOD does not lie!

    GENESIS 1:5;8;13;19;23;31

ALL Say, Evening and the Morning ; they were either; 1st day or 6th day.

Genesis 2:2 7th Day GOD Ended his Work and Rested from ALL his Work.

Genesis 2:3 It Says, GOD Blessed the 7th Day, and sanctified it: because he rested from all his work, in which GOD had Created and Made.

    Like I said before,

Genesis 1:5 1 Day = Evening to Morning! So, a Day ====='s Evening to Morning! No, Matter how we look at it!

A Day Starts in the Evening and Ends in the Morning. Don't Gloss over GOD'S WORD!

Today, We go from Morning to Evening, as our Day! Think on this deeply! PRAY, about it! Go to GOD in PRAYER about it!

Then you have, as you say, Evening to Evening!

Is That what GOD's WORD actually says?????

RE - Read: GENESIS 1:5 And the rest I listed above...

YET, GOD says, Evening to Morning; are 1 day!

This is repeated in Genesis, refer to above; Book Genesis, Chapter 1 and Verses 5,8,13,19,23,31,

And Genesis Chapter 2:2; is your 7th Day!

    Remember, GOD does not LIE!

There's only 1, who LIES and that's SATAN!

We are even told to test the Spirits! So, be careful!

Test your teachers, so they don't lead you in the wrong direction either!

Read the WORD, but also, LISTEN to GOD'S WORD ALOUD; BOOKS, CHAPTERS, and VERSES everyday!

    Let NO MAN DECIEVE you!

    HE WARNS US!

GOD BLESS to them who READS and HEARS GOD'S WORD now!

Because, we are told there will come a time, when we won't have either anymore!

GOD BLESS, PRAY, GIVE THANKS, PRAISE and Most of ALL GIVE GOD THE GLORY!

    Theresa,

Friday evening at sunset to Saturday evening sunset is the Holy Sabbath Day.

God gave us this day to rest, just like He rested on the last day after His creation. It is one of the 10 Commandments (#4). God tells us to remember to keep the Sabbath Day. This is the only commandment that God specifically tells us "to remember". Should we consider this special? Yes we should.

Jesus tells us the Sabbath was made for man. It is a gift from God to us. We should use this day to rest, and give thanks, help others in need, visit with friends and family, attend church services, and perform in a manner consistent with the way Jesus and the Apostles performed on the Sabbath. Jesus tells us in scripture that he is the Lord of the Sabbath. This tells us that Jesus holds the Sabbath in high esteem.

Man cannot change any commandment from God, so this is still in affect for The Church and Christ Followers today if they wish to be obedient to God.

    Hope this helps you!

Actually, it was the norm for the church in apostolic times to meet on the first day of the week for worship and taking in of the Lord's Supper.

Sunday Christian worship was codified by order of Constantine, true. But this was already a practice for Christians for three centuries.
  • Theresa A. Wood on Genesis 49 - 2 years ago
Answer to why they use Sunday as the Sabbath is because of the Roman Emperor Constanine 1; because he issued a cival decree making Sunday a day of rest from labor. I think, the Jewish way, is Friday evening to Saturday morning, I believe.

Genesis 1:5, states evening and morning were the 1 st day.

Sunday is the 1 st day of the week and today we count Morning to Evening, think about!

Saturday - evening to morning - = Sunday - day 1; eve to morn , = Monday 2 day evening to morn Tuesday = day 3 eveing to morn Wednesday = 4th day, eveing to morn Thursday = 5th day, evening to morn Friday = 6 th Day, evening to morning Saturday = 7 th day; eveing to morning Sunday 1 st day again. I hope I understand this right. In GOD's Love and may HE Bless, Theresa A. Wood

    Dear Surafiel,

I was bullied from middle of sixth grade through end of eight grade at the private school I attended since 1st grade. It is a sad thing to endure. I did not tell my parents of teachers, as it was not the way most people went back in those days. But I did pray about it often, and I did remember what Jesus said about loving our enemies and praying for those who persecute us. I prayed to have this attitude in me and to pray. Also, I prayed that God will help me forgive them even though they did not seek this from me. These things really helped me. I only had 3 friends that would have anything to do with me during this time. In 9th grade I went into the public schools and most of my classmates from this private school went on to private high school. So, God gave me an escape from this situation. I pray that God will provide this for you, too.

As some have suggested, I agree that you should tell your parents and teachers and the principal. I suggest that you record evidence of bullying incidences. Perhaps in a journal, screenshots of mean notes or cyber communication. If they physically hurt you, take pictures of the marks and bruises. This will help the adults I mentioned take your abuse seriously.

Keep praying and study your Bible, especially the words of Jesus in the Gospels. He is always with you and will help you. My heart goes out to you. It is so hard to rise above the mistreatment and do what is loving and right to these people while still protecting yourself. I will be praying for you.

I was bullied in school, by some students & even teachers. I know several children bullied by teachers & others in authority. I even had teachers throw chalkboard erasers & hit me in the head, multiple times, in front of entire classes. One teacher pulled me by the hair of my head down the hall to office because I asked questioned his fairness 5th grade. 4th Grade the teacher had me miss play time several days because I white skin, & different eyes & hair. "to teach class about predjudist" it made students more isolating towards me. Many more situations, I & others have suffered.

    * To tell someone in authority that has no fear of GOD, sometimes makes the problem worse!

1st know: Jesus knows better than anyone what it's like to be wrongfully bullied! Pray to The Father for help in Jesus Name: Matthew 6:5-34, John 14:13, Isaiah 53,

    1Peter 2:19-25,

2nd if you have kind, gentle, loving & understanding parents you all could prayerfully consider Homeschooling.

If you have a difficult situation at home, then pray about how to tell your Parent/Parents/Gaurdian. Even if they don't outwardly show love, they most likely care about cruel, abusive behavior towards you by others. In one case a child was moved to different school & situations were much better for that child.

3rd, Remember this time, if you're called to endure is just a few years, sometimes much shorter when you pray. GOD does amazing things, through our prayers. Luke 17:6, Matthew 17:20, James 5:17,

4th, through hardship we learn compassion, to help others who go through what we have gone through, & going through. 2Corinthians 1:3-4,

5th, I will pray for you.

6th be encouraged as I have become unafraid of people & bolder for Christ, wiser especially for things today, you too should be strengthened & be wiser throughout these things. 2Timothy 2:3, Matthew 24:13, Mark 13:13,

Hopefully these are helpful & encouraging

Tell an adult what is going on. Tell your parents, a teacher, the principle. If you go to church you can confide in a Pastor for spiritual guidance, but most importantly give it over to Jesus Christ, He loves you very much and keep reminding yourself of His promises He has in store for you. Jeremiah 29:11. Also pray for your enemies and do good to those who hate you, but use wisdom when dealing with those who bully you.

    Hi Surafiel.

Don't react to them, Not even in words.

Tell the your Parents and the School counselor and principal.

You've done the right thing by asking. And it would be the right thing to do by telling.

Check back in with us and let us know how it goes.

    I hope this helps.

    God bless.

Walk in peace with God, and do not engage the temptation. Say a quiet, Jesus protect me.

You're not too young to learn what Ephesians 6 means. Our "enemies are invisible".

A very quiet prayer under your breath, say this: I rebuke you evil spirits in the name of Jesus. I bind your works in Jesus Name. Amen.

Your prayer has as much power with God, as mine do.

Fight the invisible, and they will not bother you as much.

Read the Book of Joshua. He was a might warrior and leader.

    Dear Surafiel.

This is a very important issue. Bullying is smt really horible. In your shoes I wouldn't let it go like nothing important happens.

There are many things you can do.

First don't delay acting. Inform your family. Discuss with them what is the best solution out. Second Inform the Headmaster and teachers of your school. Don't avoid doing this. It is the first thing you must do. And insist on going to your school authorities. It is their responsibility to get you out of that situation. You can claim such a responsibility, even using the Law, if they are unwilling to help. But I thing they will help since a lot of bad things happen all the time due to bullying. The least they will be, is getting scared. They will have to face the Law. Don't let it go like nothing. It may lead to to really bad trouble.

Go to God. Keep praying to God to help you, until He gets you out of that. Also fast if you can. In my opinion you must act as christian. Do not fight, but pray for them as the Lord has asked us to pray and love our enemies. Maybe they become your friends sometime. Ask other christians to pray and fast for you. But don't get it wrong. People often do not change even if we love and pray for them. If the situation gets really bad you must protect yourself in any proper way you can. Avoid them. Jesus sometimes kept going away from hostile crowds when He Knew that they were seeking to kill Him. Maybe change school? This is better sometimes than staying there and face such a thing, when things do not change. Again all these I have written to you maybe be far from the best thing you can do. You HAVE to discuss all these with your parents and teachers and decide what is best to do, and may God help you out. Talk to yor parents, your friends, your teachers, do not keep it inside you and be helpless. They can help you.

    God Bless Yoy.

Here Jacob calls his 12 sons near and pronounces a prophecy over each one. He says it is for the "last days". (far into the future?).

I have not studied these prophecies in depth yet, but I do understand some. To Judah will be the monarchy (scepter). Simeon and Levi will not have their own portion of land, but will be scattered into all of the land portions of the other brothers. I guess I will have to google search more on this.

It is interesting that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob all seemed to know when they were to give their blessings. Abraham and Jacob both died right after blessing their children. Isaac lived more than 20 years after he gave Jacob the birthright blessing, but he thought he was near death when he gave it. What a blessing to be able to gather your family and bless them, recount how God worked in one's life, and die in peace.

  • Chris - In Reply on Genesis 49 - 3 years ago
Hello Jannelle. I'm unsure what you are seeking as proof of Jacob's age at his death. We do have Genesis 47:28: "And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years." If this verse isn't sufficient evidence, I doubt if anyone could dig up any other records to confirm this age, unless someone at the time of his death made some other record or inscribed this information on a rock or something. Till date, nothing else has surfaced, so we, as do the Jews, have to accept the age given in Genesis as true.

Genesis 49:27: "Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil."

As you know, Jacob, father of Benjamin, spoke these words of 'prophecy' before passing away. One would anticipate a word of blessing & comfort to his son & his progeny, but his words are what they are. In understanding them, Jacob is describing Benjamin as a wolf who is engaged all day long (morning and evening), in hunting after prey. He was fierce & turned out to be warlike in character and conduct (Judges chapters 20 & 21). As well to note, among Benjamin's descendants are Ehud, Saul, and Jonathan.

I would have great difficulty in seeing a personal application from this verse. Maybe, to not behave as Benjamin did: as he did wrong before God & the people and resorted to anger & had a propensity to battle. Rather, we should pursue righteousness, peace & holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord ( Hebrews 12:14).

I have read the Bible but I am re-reading it because I want true understanding and as I am re-reading through with different eyes I am connected and it seems as if I can visualize these things happening. I can get lost in what I am reading. I have to admit, I had to re-read chapter 49 and I still don't have clarity on it's meaning. I am going to read it again and disect every sentence.

Thomas Colbert, 9/10/'12 - SHILOH was a place in the O.T. that all the people gathered at to hear from God. Shiloh then was a shadow of Jesus, v. 10. Now in this N.T. age we still gather together at 'Shiloh', the church bldg., to hear from God. It's as simple as that. The ch. bldg. is where Jesus is now. He's everywhere at all times, OMNiSCIENT, yet more so when we gather - Heb. 10:25.

The word ‘as’ appears in the King James Version in italics, therefore the verse (27) reads: “Benjamin shall ravin a wolf; in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.” 'As' was inserted by the translators but not in the original transcript. It appears that Benjamin is not the wolf – he is going after the wolf. That puts an entirely different perspective to the prophecy. The word ‘Ravin’ means, “To tear in pieces and feed.” Therefore I can see both the Apostle Paul and a company of those that tear in pieces false teachings of religion and turn them into food for the hungry; “tearing down everything that would exalt itself against the knowledge of Christ”.

A very good description of Apostle Paul. He is the only man who became an Apostle after meeting Jesus in a dream! A very accurate prophecy, and a pharisee! From the trible of Benjamin. It only gets better! From the WOLF he was before.

    the
name shiloh appears in the bible (kjv) 31
times. the breakdown is as follows:
    in shiloh- 13 times
    at shiloh- 5 times
    to shiloh 6 times
    of shiloh 3 times
    from shiloh 1
    house like shiloh 2 times
    shiloh comes 1 time
genesis 49:10 is the only place where shiloh
appears to be a person.the hebrew text reads
para phrase as long as men come to shiloh. the
jewish encyclopedia gives info as to where
shiloh is located and what events took place.
people read jesus into this even though he was
    never spoken of as shiloh
