From what I understand, both the natural line (traceable) in Luke 3, and the royal line (traceable)of Matt. 1, are linked directly to Jesus Christ. Mary was in the natural line but because women were not reckoned in genealogies, Joseph the legal sin of Heli took Mary’s place from Jesus back to Adam. The royal line in Matthew 1 is thru Joseph back to Abraham.

I have a question, what was the blood line through which Mary the mother of Jesus came?
  • Diane on Matthew 1 - 5 years ago
Jesus is from the line of David through Virgin Mary His Mother.

Gloria no body from the tribe of Judah impregnated Mary but she was the connection between Judah and God She was impregnated by the living word of God He was the living word made flesh and blood according to scrip.Jesus told the Jews you are from beneath i am from above you are of this world i am not of this world. God Almighty was the one who impregnated Mary BY HIS WORD THE GOOD/GODLY SEED. GBU

So Jesus is from the linage of David through his stepfather Joseph Is that correct
  • Lorral Weaver on Matthew 1 - 5 years ago
I believe that it is more the blood line in itself that was clean, rather than the character of the people itself.

    Matthew 1:20
“But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

    Luke 18: 38
And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David,
    have mercy on me.

42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight thy faith has saved thee.

IMHO (based on my study and understanding ), Mary, being a virgin and chosen by God the Father to bear His Son, Jesus, was blessed. Obviously, a virgin conceiving without "knowing" a man is a miracle by God. But, Mary, unlike Jesus, had an earthly father and the sin nature of Adam since it is the father that contributes the blood to the conception. She rejoiced in God "her Savior". Jesus saves!

God had to find a Godly woman with a clean channel that has never been used so his son could be born clean in order to carry out the mission he sent him for we should all thank God for this precious gift he gave us

What man will hold the name of JESUS, even the Christ child, in all unrighteousness? And what will he gain? Do not all of GOD'S chosen elect receive the truth in their hearts?

    Genesis 3:14,15
And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel

The Only Thing Pure about The Blood Line was Pure Sin: David committed Adultery and murder. Tamar Played a Harlot and had Twins by Judah. Lot had Sons by His Daughters. The Lineage is Just like Us Today, Lies, Stealing, Murder, Adultery, Prostitution. We All Need a Savior! / She Shall Bring Forth a Son and Thou Shall Call His Name Jesus for He Shall Save His People from Their Sins. Matthew 1: 21

  • John woodrum on Matthew 1 - 6 years ago
Mine is more of a question, i know it was a very important thing for Christ to have a lineage that was as God wanted, and it had to be a pure lineage. And Joseph was the Father of Christ by name only because He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, but actually Mary is the only flesh involved in His birth, but all lineage is mentioned down to Joseph, but in all actuality Mary is the only connecting one

The book of Matthew chapter 1 it's a book which reminds us the history of the family even the son of God connected to that family which draws us back to our to Adam and Eva that everyone belong to the family therefore, there's a need to remind each other were we are coming from and were we are going.

Jesus is a Divine Gift from God to mankind, so believers of the gospel of Christ should cherish this divine gift and surrender all to Him and serve Him in Truth and in Spirit, for the coming of the King of Glory is at hand thanks.

Joseph was privileged to name Jesus. Likewise, God has committed some things into our hands which only we are appointed to do. We must not fail Him. This is why we need a conversational relationship with Him so that He can guide us through our Devine destinies. Joseph heard from Him through dreams, but we can go a step further to hear Him while we are awake. Open my eyes oh Lord by your mercies

Kurt; There were many things that happened both around the birth of John the Baptist, and the Lord Jesus Christ; as we read in the Books of Matthew and Luke; that make it clear many people were hearing about these things which were announced by angels and shepherds and all the friends and relatives of Zechariah and Elisabeth, Herod and all the scribes and priests and the Persian Astrologers, Anna!
  • Kurt Chappell on Matthew 1 - 6 years ago
With visiting angels to Mary then Joseph, a series of miracles began in their home. No one else knew until Jesus’s ministry began. These parents knew, and let Jesus’s siblings know. Imagine 2000 years ago, there were no science fiction novels,so truth prevailed and James, brother to Jesus, probably grew up to become an apostle. They witnessed the crucifixtion, with no human rights activists!

Matthew is the first book of the New Testament. It goes through the beginning of the people generation and where in human sense Christ was born. It is a book that gets a lot of attention and is a lead source toLearn more about the savior from D appointed references . It also proves that without learning from the old testament it would not be a new testment.

Verse 25~Joseph did not know Mary intimately until after Jesus was born. They were more concerned with Jehovah God's will being done than their own personal desires.
  • Maria Pottas on Matthew 1 - 6 years ago
I only reliazed this morning that Jesus in fact had no bloodline on this earth. Joseph was 'the son of David' (vers 20). Joseph was blessed to be able to raise God's son as his own, on this earth. That was only possible, because of his obedience. When the angle spoke to him, he set aside his own thoughts and plans. I believe that Mary was only a holy vessel for God's son. What a privelege!
