Emmanuel God with us = John 3:16 God sent his Son, he is still with Israel. This is where people mess up thinking God literally with us in the flesh, when it is an interpretation, an interpretation of events. Mark 12:1-11 The vine yard owner sent his Son and not himself as God became nothing in the flesh he sent his Son in the likeness of sinful flesh. Romans 8:3.

O children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. And the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. For I have not spoken of myself; If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. Lo, does not even the blood itself testify that I am he? Now see and hear O children of Israel: I and my Father are one. Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes on me has everlasting life.

    To 23
These verses might help you Luke 2:5 ".. being great with child; Matt. 2:1-2 ".. Jesus was born in Bethlehem.... there came wise men from the east to worship Him" All these are physical actions. On the other hand in Jh 3:3 Jesus told Nicodemus "...Expect a man be born again....." by that Jesus meant spiritual birth that is from above which we receive from the Holy Spirit when we believe in

Donna Crumb - " ..... the way God spoke to His people in the O.T. ..... "; this reads as if you realize the 4 Gospels are still O.T., ..... ? That the N.T. didn't begin until the book of Acts Ch. 2. This is as far as I will take this; I'm really not into this site anymore.
  • Donna cromb on Matthew 1 - 7 years ago
The fact that Joseph saw a vision when the angel said that Mary was conceived by the Holy Ghost is a common part of the way God spoke to His people in the Old Testament. God spoke to His prophets, see all the times in a search at the top of the page of where it says search key words for more information on this. God speaks to all Holy Spirit filled believers even today. Pray in the Spirit daily.

Matthew gives Christ's genealogy to prove He is of David's line and from Abraham. Later in Luke it has different names due to spelling in Greek and goes to Adam. This is not considered a lie! Jesus is of David's line because Joseph is a son of David, called so by God's angel. He is of David's line through Joseph just as God promised David, that his line would be King forever. Thank you God.

I love the 1 st chapter of Matthew
  • Irene123 on Matthew 1 - 7 years ago
Matt. 1:21, " ... Call his name *JESUS ... "; footnote below verse, " *"Savior, Hebrew"; Isa. 43:11; 45:15, v. 21. GOD, the spirit, was manifested in the flesh - Jesus. The same way our flesh body is inhabited by His spirit when we follow Acts2:38. And He gives us all the power to lay hands on people, pray for them and according to their faith, they are healed. It may be instant or slowly.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 1 - 7 years ago
Matt. thru John is Jesus' (our teacher) preparing the way for His Apostles understanding and further work and so also for us. Everything that is taught from the Bible is based on the O.T. Grace isn't new; the faith Abraham had and Noah, etc. is based on God's grace. We have faith first, then we follow Acts 2:38 by faith, then His Grace takes over and leads us in His will.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 1 - 7 years ago
To anyone that believes that Jesus was the Son of God but NOT the Son of David - need to read Matt. 1:17 ( and it wouldn't hurt to read all the foregoing ones!!).
  • Sam on Matthew 1 - 7 years ago

It is very great and righteous how David took care of Bathsheba after all the evil that he had done to her and her husband. What David had done, no doubt made him feel horrible about himself for ever after, but it did not cause him to despair of God's love and abilities. There are innumerable mysteries of God's great mercies toward all of us, and about His willingness to grant us a changed life!
  • Irene123 on Matthew 1 - 7 years ago
    V. 6 - " ..... of her that had been the wife of Uriah ..... "; Bathsheba is 'noted' here, but not by name possibly because she was with David BEFORE her husband died ..... ?
  • Francisco Carlos Martins on Matthew 1 - 8 years ago

  • Sam on Matthew 1 - 8 years ago
I love to read the bible coz the word is the life to use.
  • Obbie Beal on Matthew 1 - 8 years ago
    WOW ! A clock is shown in this chapter (example): 14 14 14 = 42 generations

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

First noticeable note in this passage is that it is one of 2 genealogies of the Lord Jesus Christ

Second there are three women mentioned in this genealogy. Thamar, Rahab,Bathsheba

  • Bruce on Matthew 1 - 8 years ago
Save his people? The Jewish people know the Old Testament. Most don't believe in the birth of Christ or the New Testament. They're still waiting for their messiah! Very few believe in the blood of Christ. He WILL save his people who are Jews Romans2:29, called John6:44, baptized Luke3:16
What difference? 'll Corinthians 5:17. The Final day! Revelations20:15
    Eternity where will you be??
  • Michael Holin Lawson on Matthew 1 - 8 years ago
God told us in the older books of the bible that he would save his people which he did.The next thing he said that he will come and judge us for our sin, so since he came on save us he will be coming for us for sure.
