The person that said that Matthew was a writer like any other writer is wrong. the people who wrote GAVE WORDS...PROPHECIES that are in the Bible were lead by the HOLLY SPIRIT. Not theirs own thoughts did they write. We have to be careful when it comes to THE THINGS OF GOD. no reasoning...JUST BELIEVE AND YE SHALL BE SAVED. God bless you. Shalom. Ev. Norbert

Linage is traced through the father not the mother. However, God is the father and creator of mankind including David therefore Jesus does fulfill scripture. Ultimately, God is the father of David and the creator of the line of David. The genetic code God used in the creation of the line of David was placed in the body of Jesus so that Jesus could be born and walk the earth in the physical form of man. David retained his free will of making decisions on his own, but Jesus totally submitted his own will to the will of God. Therefore Jesus was sinless completely filled with Holy Spirit. The power of God was channeled through the body of Jesus so he could preform miracles like raising the dead.

Just as Moses 's followers would have worshiped Moses 's body if they could have found it,so would people today worship Jesus 's birthday if they knew when he was born, not worshiping Jesus Christ as Lord and savior.

The women mentioned in Chapter 1 are at least 3 of the gentile people, there are five women mentioned there. All are there by Gods Grace. The first three that are mentioned were all of a wicked people. The first one was Tamar, she is a picture of sinners. Rahab is there because she is a picture of Faith, Ruth is there because she is a picture of Grace, and the fourth woman is not mentioned by name, because it wasn 't her sin, the sin was Davids, a picture of Christ that took our sin. The other was Mary and that was the fleshly mother of Jesus our savior, who was The Son Of God.

I doubt if anyone knows the exact day, or month that Jesus was born. The only thing that is important is that He was born and died for you, and me.

  • Dexter on Matthew 1:3 - 9 years ago
I am of the opinion that these named women, being all of Gentile heritage, shows that the linage of maternal side as being important unto the Jews to show prove Jewishness and linage is tracked on the paternal side to show the male descendants right of earthly inheritance monetary or goods . Therefore the linage of Christ is of its Jewishness has gaps of Gentile linage via Tamar, Rahab, and Ruth to demonstrate unto readers of God 's word that Gentiles are indeed, included in the Covenant of Grace via maternal Jewish linage as well as the evidences left in the words of the Apostle Paul covered in Romans 2.

Hello St. Mary I would like to make a correction concerning the women in Jesus Christ lineage. There were 5 women in his lineage mentioned Matthew 1 5 Rachab is Rahab. She was Salmon wife. Through her was begot Boaz Booz . The next woman mentioned is Rahab, the wife of Salmon, who is also identified as a prostitute and a Gentile living in Jericho. Her story is found in Joshua 2 and 6. She gave hospitality to the Jewish spies who came to Jericho and hid them from the king of Jericho when he wanted to kill them. Her confession of faith is found in Joshua 2 11, "the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below. "
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 1 - 9 years ago
Part 4 of 4 In the end, we know that Joseph did not begot Jesus. When Joseph found out that Mary was pregnant he thought to put her away privately, but the Angel of the Lord told him in a dream not to because what she was carrying was of the Holy Ghost. He did marry Mary and did not touch her sexually until after Jesus was born, Matthew 1 18 thru 25.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 1 - 9 years ago
Part 3 of 4 According to some scholars Mary would have had her spouse assigned to her by the Law of Moses. Mary married her father s brother s son, making Joseph and Mary first cousins on the paternal side. Joseph was of the House of David and therefore so was Mary. Joseph and Mary shared the same paternal grandfather and so, up to that point, their descent was the same. Hence, the genealogy of Jesus could be followed quite easily through the genealogy of Joseph as listed in the Gospel of Matthew Chapter One.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 1 - 9 years ago
Part 2 of 4 Mary is mentioned so that people will know that the Bible did not lie that Jesus Christ did come through the lineage of David, Matthew 1 1. However, due to the laws or customs of the Jews they directly traced the lineage back to Joseph and mentioned Mary as his wife, acknowledging but not directly acknowledging Mary.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 1 - 9 years ago
Part 1 of 4 Hello St. Mary Joseph was Mary cousin. If memory serves me correct, according to Jewish laws or customs, especially during the old times, a child is identified as a Jew by the father. One reason was because of all the customs regarding procreation with handmaidens and foreign women. This is why you will see a lot of lineages of old that only talks about the father side of the lineage. They did not usually mention women in the lineages. This is why Jesus Christ lineage was so unique because 4 women were mentioned. The reason was very significant. One Solomon mother was Ethiopian. As I mentioned in another post, the meaning of Ethiopian was burnt skin meaning she was black.
  • St. Mary on Matthew 1 - 9 years ago
I wonder why Jesus ' adoptive father Joseph 's lineage is laid out, and not his natural mother 's, Mary. Joseph 's blood was not given to Christ, whereas Mary clearly passed her bloodline to Christ. Is there geneology on Mary, and was she direct descendent of Abraham through David also, thus fulfilling the messianic prophecies?
  • Evang. Ogueri chioma Globalshowers Evangelistic Ministry on Matthew 1:21 - 9 years ago
Jesus transforms life and gives peace to all that believes and accepts him. Absence of peace in a believer 's life shows that one has not fully yielded to the savior. Thanks be to God for his immeasurable grace to all that believes.

  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 1 - 9 years ago
Hello Mike Kocsis In addition to my post, I hope will come out before this one. This would make this one make more sense. I would like to correct the spelling of the word lineage in my post. Also punctuation marks sometimes do not come out, therefore so that you will know, Hezon is Esrom and Ram is Aram.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Matthew 1 - 9 years ago
Hello Mike kocsis I am not understanding the nature of your question. The Bible also mentions 4 women in Jesus Christ linage. There is a significant reason why they are mentioned. However, could it be because they were twins that both boys are mentioned? It also mentions the mother of these twins Thamar Tamar . Then it separates them letting you know that Jesus Christ linage continued under Phares. Phares begot Hezon Esrom and Hamul. Esrom begot Ram Aram . The linage continues through to Mary and then Jesus Christ.
