    Robert. Just to clarify: Genesis 1:26a, "And God said, Let US make man in our image, after our likeness". With your added reference to Ezekiel 10:19, I gather you're stating that it wasn't Jesus (the Word) in "us", but God is speaking of the cherubim. So God used these heavenly beings to assist in the creation of mankind. Interesting.

    What would you do with Colossians 1:16,17: "For by him (Jesus is spoken of here as we see before & after these verses) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." How does this fit in with the cherub activity in creation?

    John 1:1-3. I don't understand your point. What are the changes in the Bible versions (NKJV & ESV) you see? Is it the use of the words, "by" & "through", as in "All things were made by Him, or through Him". I can see the difference in meaning, but the intent is the same: that it was the Word of God that participated in creation with God (whether the creating work was from the Word or through the Word) and this Word was subsequently made human & His Glory was seen, as One come out of God (v 14). I await your clarification.

    I really don't like asking things for myself, but I am in need of prayers. I am lost, I don't know where to begin, I seek forgiveness from Jesus and I pray to be born again. I read my Bible, I love so many passages, but I feel lost. I don't know what to do, or what I'm doing wrong. I pray that Jesus will send someone to help me in my faith. I know this isn't possible with. COVID, but I seek to know Jesus more, to love Him more, to be baptized and saved. Please pray for me that Jesus will answer my prayers and save me. Thank you

    Brandon,

    Jesus prayed to the Father and asked him to sanctify them though the truth. Thy word is truth . To know who Jesus is you must trust the scriptures for the answers. You cant even trust your own thoughts because God tells us that his thoughts are not our thoughts.

    John:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. [ Who made the world? ]

    v11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. These verses are are a reference to Jesus Christ.

    I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. In red letters Jesus said He is the Almighty

    I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

    The Almighty was dead when he took my place on the cross !

    I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

    Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

    That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

    And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

    Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

    Hope this helps

    Does the Bible say that we as Christians can feel others physical pain
  • Michael Vesosky - In Reply on Genesis 1 - 4 years ago
    Thanks Rick,

    I know its not the sun, moon or stars . If by spiritual light you mean understanding I don't believe that fits for two reasons . for one understanding was with Jesus Christ when he created the heavens and earth. And the second being that you were told that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth which is physical not spiritual . The closest thing to creating something spiritual would be man and even Adam was formed from the dust of the ground. I don't know what the light was or if it still exists but my guess would be it is some form of cosmic light.

    I would suggest reading the NT for a better understanding, but Ephesians chapter 6 tells us about putting on the whole armour of God, I hope this is what your looking for.

    Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

    Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

    If someone is torn between two ways of life, then they'll be changing their ways based on how they feel at the moment, so his ways are unstable since they are constantly changing. This person ends up getting the worst of both worlds; the guilt coming from a desire to be righteous, and the pain coming from a life of sin.
  • Bob on Proverbs 26:4 - 4 years ago
    There 'IS' a time to answer a fool as the very next verse says in Proverbs 26:5, "..lest he become puffed up (or wise) in his conceit/deceit.." Amen? Amen!

    by so doing we truly become Christ like or 'Christian'. Search the scriptures ( John 5:39) and see how Jesus responded to his accusers. Meek is strength (in The Lord) & not weak!

    Kol tuv i.e. be well :-)

    Are you wondering about James 2:3? The way I understand it is you shouldn't judge people based on their outer appearance, but by who they are on the inside.
  • M - In Reply on John 1 - 4 years ago
    To the best of my understanding, it seems to be that God can be understood as 3 entities(God the Father, God the Son, The Holy Spirit) who are 1 in heart, so they are the same in the sense that they would make the same decisions, and feel the same way. I find it difficult to fully grasp as well, but I suppose we won't fully grasp it until we go to heaven, but maybe someone can do a better job explaining it than I did.

    Most people who don't believe in God believe science holds all the answers people seek, and that people came up with the ideas of gods or God to help explain things that they didn't understand.

    Also, it would be very inconvenient for them if they suddenly came to realize God is real, and that they've been doing things that are very wrong.

    All their friends believe all that spiritual stuff is a stone age myth, and they wouldn't want to be the odd man out.

    Through focus and prayer, you can obtain understanding. Ask God to help you understand.
  • M - In Reply on Luke 12:10 - 4 years ago
    It seems to mean the one unforgivable sin is not having the Holy Spirit, because those without the Holy Spirit people don't have their debts paid by the blood of the Lamb. So rejecting God and Jesus's sacrifice in their place is unforgivable because forgiveness is through the blood.

    Once someone accepts Jesus's sacrifice in their place, and puts their faith in Him, that condition no longer exists, and all can be forgiven.

  • M - In Reply on Leviticus 3 - 4 years ago
    To the best of my understanding, it's because the sin has to be paid for. The payment for sin is blood because the wages of sin is death. There's some kind of connection between the physical things going on in this world and the spiritual world.

    Hello:

    I want to thank everyone who responded to me. You have all given me alot to think about.

    I apologize, I see that some of my comments may have offended or misled some, so I want to clarify. I had no intention to attempt to contradict or discredit the Bible or Christianity. I only was trying to say that at this time and place in my life, it was not for me. I wasn't trying to come onto a Biblical site and criticize the Bible, Christianity or Christians. I was at one time, a Christian. I am no longer because that particular religion was not compatible for me and so I left. And because I was not treated well back in tbe day by some who identified as Christians.

    I came on this site because I saw it advertised on television as a place where people could come together and talk about issues that divide us and find reconciliation. I was trying to figure out if it was possible to salvage a friendship that had been heartbreakingly fractured by some of the events of the day, especially racism. I mentioned my sexual orientation to give the context that this friend did not just come out with a prejudice randomly; she had a history of prejudicial behavior and this was part of why I was upset. I received some very helpful responses and some understanding and I thank those who gave them. Thank you very much and God bless.

    I think I get what you mean, but it's not that simple. These were the armor(or armour, as it's spelled in kjv) pieces:

    helmet of salvation (protects your most vital part)

    breastplate of righteousness (righteousness protects your heart from evil)

    loins girt with truth (having a base of truth gives you the center on which to build on)

    feet shod with preparation of the gospel of peace (to run away quickly from temptations)

    shield of faith (to withstand all of satan's fiery darts)

    sword of the spirit (the only offensive weapon, prayer)

    You can't exactly put on the armor of God without studying the word of truth and growing your relationship with Him. You have to sharpen your sword and repair your shield and armor before going into battle. This is done by growing in understanding and faith, which comes from studying the word of God.

    Biblically give to God First and that believing he will give you increase and supply all your need. In the law it was ten percent or first fruits whether animals or crops but you gave your best first, thats the tithe and purpose of it. Now how and where you give is your call, understand this your responsibility if possible is to give and it must not be grudgingly God loves a cheerful giver, also the receiver is responsible for what he does with it. So who do you trust. The apostle Paul talks about it to the church of corinth. Once you give Let Go And Let God. Thats believing!

    Putting on the whole armour of God is learning and walking on His word that sir is a lifelong deal because we who are imperfect ate endeavoring to put on perfection Gods word, remember Jesus Christ respose to the devil during the temptations in luke 4 everytime it is written handing over the authority to His Father and our Father.

    I've heard that before as well, but we have no clue on the nature of spirits and angels, and what they exactly can and can't do. Also, Genesis 6:4;

    "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."

    It differentiates "sons of God" and "daughters of men", implying that the sons of God mentioned are not men. I also heard the phrase "sons of God" in the original texts in this context were specifically used for referring to angels.

    Are you wondering about James 2:2-4? The way I understand that verse is don't look at the outside of a person and treat them based on that. Instead, you should look at the heart of a person.
