How was Eve created? What I have read or heard, I don't remember, is that Adam was placed in a deep seep and GOD created Eve with one of Adam's ribs. Is that true? and if so. where can I find that information, in the Bible?
  • Chris - In Reply on Proverbs 1 - 5 years ago
Nancy, the Scripture I like in respect to what you've asked is in Ephesians 1:13,14: "In whom (Jesus) ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom (Jesus) also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."

The verse reminds us that after we heard the Gospel & subsequently put our trust (faith) in Jesus, we were immediately given God's Seal of Promise. And this came to us through His Gift of His Spirit into our lives. And this was absolutely necessary to happen, as the Spirit's Presence is the "earnest" (the guarantee) of our inheritance: inheritance of our new relationship to the Godhead, of all of God's Blessings, Power, Joy & Peace and the guarantee that God would never leave us or forsake us, just as God promised in His Word: Deuteronomy 13:6 & the direct NT quote in Hebrews 13:5. And this Promise is fully seen by the presence of the Spirit in the lives of God's children.

But Eph 1:14 goes on to say that this "sealing" & this "guarantee" by the Spirit is only until "the redemption of the purchased possession". I understand this to mean that when we finally get to Heaven (& indeed, 'what a day of rejoicing that will be'), the Spirit's presence will no longer be indwelling us as we will be in the presence of God & His Son Jesus. Jesus, in Heaven right now, is seated at His Father's right Hand & in the Body (now glorified) He had on Earth. And so we too shall be ( 1 John 3:2) in the day of our translation (Rapture) when both those alive & dead in Christ arise to be with the Lord forever.

So our Redemption comes in two phases: redemption of our spiritual entity, when our spirits once given over to serving Satan, now have been redeemed by Christ's Blood to belong to & serve our Holy God. And redemption of the physical, when our bodies are transformed to live with Him.

Not one of you understands this. Jesus Christ said you will be hated by all, and that is the sign of a true prophet. If you don't hate even your own life...?

If you don't pick up your Cross daily...?

Jesus Christ never told anyone to hate anything but evil.

Verse 42 is very interesting....The day begins at sunset for Jews..... So Joseph asked for Jesus' body on what would be Thursday evening since the Sabbath starts at Sundown on Friday evening.....He would not ask for it on the Sabbath.......Additionally, it was during passover....So this Friday would have still been a day when they could do no preparations because it was during passover.....With the Sabbath ending Saturday at sunset, and Jesus being raised in the morning of the first day of the week, this makes sense....He died in Thursday afternoon, and rise in Sunday morning....

Hi Ronald, thank you for your comment & when I saw your quote, Galatians 2:20, I remembered that that was my key verse when sharing my testimony at a Nazarene Church while serving with a Christian Mission in Dewsbury, U.K. So that came as a precious reminder & one to reflect upon. And you're quite right, I think most of us contributing on this Site, won't take personal credit for what we share, as we write what we understand from God's Holy Word & being led of His Spirit. I realize that others could say the same, yet interpret the Word quite differently, which of course gives different points of view for others to consider. However, we come, I trust, with a real sense of brotherly unity in diversity because of our 'common' faith. We could never claim to be the repository of Truth, but to declare what the Word says with the Light we've received.

No, I'm not a pastor - just a lowly child of the King, ever amazed as to "why, unworthy as I am, (God) claimed me for His own". (From the hymn, "I know not why God's wondrous Grace"). I live in Perth, Australia, having experienced a mighty conviction & moving of the Spirit in October 1979 whilst in my quarters in the Air Force in Canberra. My life of unbridled sin was brought before me, receiving a special piercing visit by God's Spirit that brought me to my knees in tears. And in a moment those tears turned to joy as His confirmation & peace filled me, so if anyone should've entered the room, I would have been deemed a ripe candidate for urgent psychological help.

I have shared many Bible studies over the years, particularly during my time in Pakistan & India, but now am retired in Perth, the city my family moved to from India 54 years ago. Anyway, that's a quick brief to give you some background but to also acknowledge the great value of the many others who also share here, of what the Lord has revealed to them in their studies in the Word.

Hi Randall, looks like you were able to post just fine. Most comments more than 1 month old can't be replied to (locked) to encourage people to start a new thread. It works out better that way. God bless you!
  • Randall Bunton on Revelation 16:16 - 5 years ago
Why is the comment locked? The red letter in the KJV bible is the truth. To suggest Jesus would have his disciples slaughtered with no defense is wrong. He blinded Saul on the road to Damascus to protect his flock. People must be able to defend themselves against evil. He literally meant they must defend themselves and their families against the demonic powers that exist on the Earth. Jesus never bowed the knee to any king or devil on the Earth. Christians must follow his Divine teaching and warnings. For the days are indeed evil. Anyone that believes Jesus was a non-violent advocate like Martin Luther King do not believe his prophecy. I will follow the Nazarene no matter what "scholars" say to twist his word. Antichrist is still here as in the time of Jesus. The carpenter was no weakling trying to compromise good and evil. He stood firm and we must also.
  • Mishael On Leviticus 2016 - In Reply on Leviticus 20:16 - 5 years ago
This is from a Commentary on Google. It shows the seriousness of perversion. In most cases it's a death sentence.

Keil and Delitzsch Biblical Commentary on the Old Testament:

Whoever cursed father or mother was to be punished with death ( Leviticus 19:3); "His blood would be upon him." The CURSING of parents was a capital crime (see at Leviticus 17:4, and for the plural Exodus 22:1 and Genesis 4:10), which was to return upon the doer of it, according to Genesis 9:6. The same punishment was to be inflicted upon ADULTERY ( Leviticus 20:10, cf. Leviticus 18:20), carnal intercourse with a father's wife ( Leviticus 20:11, cf. Leviticus 18:7-8) or with a daughter-in-law ( Leviticus 20:12, cf. Leviticus 18:17), SODOMY ( Leviticus 20:13, cf. Leviticus 18:22), sexual intercourse with a mother and her daughter, in which case the punishment was to be heightened by the burning of the criminals when put to death ( Leviticus 20:14, cf. Leviticus 18:17), lying (mating) with a beast ( Leviticus 20:15, Leviticus 20:16, cf. Leviticus 18:23), sexual intercourse with a half-sister ( Leviticus 20:17, cf. Leviticus 18:9 and Leviticus 18:11), and lying with a menstruous woman ( Leviticus 20:18, cf. Leviticus 18:19). The punishment of death, which was to be inflicted in all these cases upon both the criminals, and also upon the beast that had been abused ( Leviticus 20:15, Leviticus 20:16), was to be by stoning, according to Leviticus 20:2, Leviticus 20:27, and Deuteronomy 22:21.; and by the burning ( Leviticus 20:14) we are not to understand death by fire, or burning alive, but, as we may clearly see from Joshua 7:15 and Joshua 7:25, burning the corpse after death. This was also the case in Leviticus 21:9 and Genesis 38:24.

You can Google Book plus the scripture to read other Bible Commentaries.
  • The Holy Spirit - In Reply on Proverbs 1 - 5 years ago
The Holy Spirit is the spirit of Christ. He is Spirit. I haven't seen anything that tells us he has or will have a physical body.

His presence will not be as strong on the earth when the Church of Jesus; His Bride, is caught up in the clouds to meet Jesus.

It will be hard for people left behind to be saved. It will be totally in faith; they will pray and receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.

If people take the mark of the Beast to get food and internet: they are doomed already. Their choice has already been recorded in Heavens Book.

Everyone I know falls in love with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. In Genesis where Abraham sends forth "his servant" to find Isaac a wife: I see the Holy Spirit (as the Masters servant). It's a beautiful story.
  • Adam - In Reply on Revelation 12 - 5 years ago
Dear Diane, the fact that you care and are concerned enough to post a prayer request shows where your heart is. That's a good thing. Christians are not immune to temptation, sin, and spiritual strongholds, but should try to do everything in your power to break them. Paul was a strong Christian, but still described how he struggled with the fleshly temptations of sin. There are general Christian addition support groups through church like Celebrate Recovery that may offer helpful support. Ephesians 6:10-18

It is my belief that if you have become a Christian (Link and genuinely following Christ then by definition you are Christian and are saved by grace and can have confidence in your salvation. 1 John 5:13. Hebrews 4:16, Philippians 4:13. I believe following Christ is an active pursuit and we always have room to grow and mature and be more like Him.

    God bless...

Please pray for me and my family. We are having financial issues as my son is not working. He is working on passing the last part for his CDL license. My home is in need of some plumbing repairs but most of all a new roof. I have no insurance. It was damage in the last hurricane. Please bless me with a miracle or a undeserved financial blessing so I can make the repairs needed and also pay so past due bills. Please pray with me, I'm not all what I should be but I strive to do and be better than the day before . I carry myself so that others may see some Christ like ways in me.

  • Growing Your Faith To Be Healed - In Reply on Ephesians 1 - 5 years ago
Then Jesus said to the disciples, "Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours. But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too. Mark 11:22-25

The prayer of faith is important because it is the key to having your prayers answered. You can't effect Spirit-led change in your life and in the lives of those around you without faith. On the other hand, with faith, Jesus says, "you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours." Faith finds out what the Word has to say, prays in accordance with that Word and believes regardless of pain & circumstances.

I'm told my back needs surgery. I told my doc, it doesn't hurt. I choose to believe in God. She smirks slightly.

So when I feel the aches, I plead the Blood of Jesus over it until it stops. If it restarts I do it again. Your faith is centered solely on Jesus as you do that. Your faith is getting bigger than the pain. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

I am not going to give satan any ground to rejoice! The blood of Jesus is full payment for all of my sins and neglect of my body when I was young. Our pain IS under the Blood of Jesus. No devil is going to touch that Blood.

I'm going to pray that the Lord will give skill and concentration on your surgery. I pray the Lord to guide your surgeons hands. I ask the Lord to heal every wounded nerve in your back and cause them to be replaced by new ones! Amen!

You, dear one, you thank Jesus for daily mending. Step into the healing of his blood every time you feel a twinge. May your faith grow huge.

I dont like asking for things for myself, however, i am doing something wrong and I feel I need prayer to help. I have only one sin left and I can't seem to do away with it. I have given myself to Jesus and my heart is HIS but this thing has a hold on me and I dont know what to do. I am soooo ready to be with HIM and im tired of disappointing HIM. im afraid of going to hell. Maybe im not praying correctly? So will you please pray that HIS children obtain strength to go on and are healed from all this earthly sin? Thank you.

I adhere to this one scripture for me.

    1 Corinthians 10:23

"All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not."

Drinking Too much alcohol can result in disasters, death, car crashes, unplanned pregnancy, and making others stumble in their walk with Jesus because they see a church leader under the influence.

It's not just alcohol either; smoking, swearing, drugs? I think of those with tender consciences that may wander away from the Lord, disillusioned.

I get as much enjoyment wit a glass of iced tea with friends, out on the porch.

I don't think wine with dinner is sinful. Just don't overdo it.

It would be interesting to know what the original word was for the actual item they plucked: some say corn some say grain some say wheat.

I've always assumed it would be wheat: Corn doesn't come on ears it comes on a cob and it is well

Wrapped up. Hard to get at the individual nuts. Wheat is on the ear.

Also it is more ludicrous that they should be accused of sabbath breaking just for plucking an ear of wheat. Plus of course, taking

A whole cob of corn would get them

    arrested for theft.
