The whole of chapter 9 in Proverbs is to show a comparison between Wisdom & Folly (= foolishness). As you must have read the earlier verses (1 - 12), you saw the traits of one who uses wisdom. Now both Wisdom & Folly are used here in the feminine gender but not to denigrate the female in any way, but in Hebrew, as in many other languages, those words are in the feminine gender. So, Foolishness is seen as Wisdom's opposite & verses 13 -18 demonstrate that.

The imagery of Foolishness is shown as 'a foolish woman'. Clearly, this woman is personified as a harlot as you can see from the following verses in this chapter. Foolishness is the display of simpleness & ignorance (v13); she sits in a prominent position to call out to the simple men to come into her chambers (v14); both the wise & simple men walk by her, but the simple ones turn in because they are attracted by her alluring calls (v15,16); she convinces them that there can be more pleasure from doing wrong or doing things in secret when no one is looking (v17). But Wisdom's final word (v18) is: "But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell": i.e. the simple can't see 'past their noses' (or, see past their heightened sinful desires) to take into account that that "the wages of sin is death" ( Rom 6:23) & all those who give in to her (foolishness), will join the throng of sinners who succumbed to the wiles of the devil.

My mom has brain cancer. It is incurable.

She is a Godly woman, who led me to the Lord when I was young.

We would love a few more years with her, Lord willing.

Please pray for healing and peace.

    Thank you

In this chapter, we see David's beloved friend, Jonathan, & himself communing after David's encounter with Goliath. You remember that David could not use Saul's armour against Goliath, preferring rather his sling shot with which he was very skilled. So when he & Jonathan met up later, Jonathan offered his royal clothing & armoury to David as he was accepted by King Saul to head up the armies of Israel & needed something more warlike looking when appearing before the King.

So, at this time these pieces of armoury were worn by David for decoration & dignity of his position rather than for use in war. So Jonathan gave him his bow (longbow rather than a crossbow, also 2 Sam 1:22) & his girdle. This was a heavy metal plated belt that served two purposes: to hold the scabbard for his sword & sometimes extended lower to cover & protect the pelvic area. Soldiers also wore a breastplate, which was like the material of the belt but used to protect the abdomen.

Someone sent this to me. I have loosely titled: Tolerance of evil.

"Our great and mighty God, who created all things; even evil

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. ( Isaiah 45:7)

Has pulled the plug on this evil world. He ALLOWED all this to happen....ok if you don't want Me in your nation and you allow your enemies to invade your land with their idols and their sorceries and witchcraft and gods of wood and gods of stone who neither see nor hear....you want to pass your children through the fire of abortion and have your men marry men and your women marry women....

And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. ( Revelation 18:2)

....and I will send a famine, not just of food but also of the Word.....no more will the voice of the Bride be heard or the voice of the Bridegroom......you want to kick me out of your nation.....welcome to your New Boss

Judgment begins at the house of the Lord then the cup of His indignation is poured out on everyone else, who have taken the mark and who blaspheme the Most High. Woe unto them"

There is much wisdom in this chapter concerning the character of the believer. It expresses the role the believer plays in the model of society and explains the reason to continue in the purpose discovered in each man. It is important to read the word of God to understand what is expected of us. Represent Jesus as best as we can. Include the Lord in all we do.

As I have been preparing for ministry, the Lord has placed a powerful But simple message in my heart, Preach the word preach salvation and feed his sheep. I am 56 years old, ever since I was a young child, I have been prophesied over many many times about my ministry, January last year my father who was an evangelist for over 50 years passed away, but before he passed away he wanted to pass The ministry over to me, there has been a huge shift in my relationship with the Lord, he has begin to speak to me in a way he's never spoken to me before, he's open my eyes to see things to understand things I did not understand before one of my biggest request was to become transparent, let me tell you he showed me things that I needed to let go, things that would help me, my heart hurts for the lost, i'm asking you to pray with me for strength and patience, I know It's not me that does the work it's the Holy Spirit, I just want to be the very best I can in my service to the Lord. Thank you and God bless you. I also wanted to say thank you for this amazing app I use it every single day, it is helped me alone substantially in the world. Again thank you very much and may God richly bless you for your service not just me I said many others I know you were reaching.

It's like I always say" Life is too short to waste time, energy or thought" on things that don't please God. The only way we can know Him is through His word. I love the King James version of the Holy bible and it is what I use. This chapter expresses our need to be true to the calling on our lives. I found out what God called me to do. Each day I grow stronger so when the time comes I will be ready, willing, and able to accomplish what thus saith the Lord. I hope everyone will seek and find their gift and talent from Almighty God: in Jesus' name, Amen.

Peter, that's indeed a sad account you've shared. Has John Quigley or his department even cared to give you the full reasons for their decision, in writing? You could take that determination & have it considered by a legal firm (maybe removing the Justice Minister's name in case that colours their judgement) & see whether: 1. the prevention of Karen's return home & pursuing normal activities is lawful, and 2. whether Quigley's threats to the publication of your side of this story is even justifiable & constitutional.

Yet, in our hearts we know that the operation of governments & their judgements are very often totally opposed to Scriptural warrants & though leaving us sad & hopeless, we know that wickedness at all levels will be brought to Light & a true severe judgement will be pronounced upon the perpetrators. I know, little comfort here, when such injustices are the order of the day, but we can only trust in God, Who not only will judge righteously, but give Karen & her loved ones the grace & mental & emotional fortitude to live in such circumstances. God IS ABLE: just continue to hold out in believing prayer that He will work all things out for good, even though His Work behind the scenes is hidden from us & His Purposes are not revealed. I do hope that Karen will never feel unloved or alone in all this & that the same Spirit Who is in you both will minister in special ways in your situation. Every blessing brother.

I gathered great wisdom from this chapter. It explains the responsibility of our leaders. It is clearly establishing that the Lord finds their role in our lives important. This is why, I pray, for my leaders Mayor Perkins, Governor Edwards, Senator Kennedy, President Trump and all those in between. Be blessed in Jesus' name, Amen.

Thank you Robert, that was very helpful also. Re: the coming Anti-Christ. One could argue to the actual commencement of the Great Tribulation that is to come upon the whole world ( Mt 24). One thought is that it commences at the revelation of Anti-Christ (2 Thes 2:3 ff); another, that it's only after he begins his onslaught of terror upon those who refuse him & his Mark; and yet another, at the pouring out of God's Wrath upon the Earth ( Rev 6 ff). So, I suppose the inclination to one of these positions primarily determines where one stands in his belief to the timing of the Rapture of the Church. And then of course, the much debated matter whether the Church experiences any or all of the above, with all the Scriptures given to support those views, comes into play. Whichever understanding, the importance of our readiness & longing for His Return is paramount.

It was the Pharisees trying to catch Jesus in some kind of sin. Jesus used the situation to show the Pharisees (people who hit others on the head with rules), that they were unmerciful.

    23

And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.

    24

And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day, that which is not lawful?

    25

And Jesus said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?

    26

How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?

    27

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

    28

Therefore the Son of man IS LORD also of the sabbath.

After re-reading Psalms 78 I get the message that: God can supply all my needs. I also find value in serving the Lord God Almighty because he loves me. I don't feel sorry for those who refuse to obey or deny God and Psalms 78 identifies why Christians should desire for people to be saved but release them when they chose to say "no".

  • Mishael on Divers - In Reply on John 14 - 5 years ago
I'm doing further study on the word divers; which means, diversities. In the Bible as divers diseases or divers places.

Further explanation defines that God hates mixtures; several examples of that.

We all need to hear this; especially now.

I have watched a worldwide earthquake map for years. Today, Mexico south of Acapulco had over 7 on the scale. We can google the news later
