    3. On Predestination. "We don't have true 'Free will' to choose God". Again, I can't disagree with you on this count: after all, He drew us, He convicted us, & He saved us - nothing of ourselves there. That is why, when I hear someone say that he has 'considered many religions & then decided on Christianity', I tremble as to his actual spiritual condition.

"So how can we say men will be subject to eternal damnation when God didn't allow them to believe in him?" So here we have the problem: put another way, a person wants to repent of his many sins & call upon Jesus, but just cannot be saved because God has not predestined him to be His child. Or, would a person who is NOT predestined to salvation, even want to repent & call upon His Name? So such a person, not predestined, by all accounts should not be punished in hell fire as that would be unjust & 'unloving' of God to do. However, could we say that this Omniscient God predestines some to eternal damnation because of their future lives of wilful disobedience & rejection of the Gospel? That is, predestination is contingent upon the response of that carnal nature, of which the Creator God could only know? Jer 1:5; Ps 139:13-16. Each one of us is still responsible for the quality of our lives (predestined or not). God doesn't judge us for what He already knows, but what we do. Our evil acts from reprobate minds then justify our eternal damnation.

John, thank you for your detailed reply & for taking the time to do so. It was very helpful to understand more fully your thoughts on the matters raised with the abundance of Scriptures you cited.

    1. I'm in full agreement with the 'two natures': I understand them as you do. The statement you made on your first page, "Not only (is) this a spiritual fire but this fire is essential to being saved, which I believe we are not saved until we have endured to the end", would be the one I would question. I believe that our perseverance till the end IS necessary & is proof of the reality of our salvation, however, we can know NOW that we are saved & that our salvation is not left in the balance until our last breath (e.g. 1 Jn 5:11-13; Jn 5:24, 6:53,54; Rom 6:23). These verses & others show that Eternal Life for those in Christ is their blessed possession NOW & not contingent till the end. However, of course, that we endure to the end is proof of the reality of that salvation. Having worked amongst Muslims, I'm well aware of their uncertainty of salvation until their final stand before Allah. They can do all their required acts & more, but there's no certainty as their works hang in the balance (i.e. with the two angels over each shoulder). For the believer, our salvation is made sure & secure through Christ's death alone & faith in that finished work: so we can be sure now, our joy can be full now & our fight against the dark forces always end in victory. And the final proof of all that is that we finish the course fully ( 2 Tim 4:7).

    2. Meaning of 'aion'. I've checked your references & concur with the meaning there of 'eternal' (age lasting/age long). I see no problem with their use whether in 'punishment' or in 'life' in those verses.

I've done street ministry with women and men. Sometimes the women want a female street minister to talk to or be ministered to.

As I am fond of saying: God will use a donkey to speak if there is no one else to speak for Him.

There's this lady I met at church who has a real prophetic gift. Iverna Tompkins. You should have a listen on YouTube. I'm afraid she's passed on, but wow can she preach.

  • Mishael on WE39RE IN THEY39RE OUT on Job 1 - 5 years ago
Remember that study I did called, THEY'RE OUT, and WE'RE IN now. Romans 3:29

We're in till the fullness of the Gentiles is accomplished? Romans 11:25-26

For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this MYSTERY, Lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that BLINDNESS in part, is HAPPENED to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in (finished).

And so, all Israel Shall be Saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob (The Jews).

That's why I say that Gentiles are IN now.

The whole thing is DETAILED in Romans 11:7-11. Please read it!! Romans 10:2 and Romans 11:12, 15, 18-22 READ IT SLOW

There are some warnings in there if you are a Gentile. No boasting, no judging, no smirking. Just leave it alone!!!! Keep your salvation secure. No hateful commenting.

They are blinded. Their ears are closed up by God. Their eyes have scales on them. Why?? For us Christians!! " The Election"

Romans 10:19. Deuteronomy 32:21. Our love for Jesus is supposed to make them envious. What a happy, cheerful, non- judgmental Jesus Loving Bunch we are?!?!

Yes they are into all manner of idolatry and occultism mixed with Jewish ritualism. It has to have a lot of emptiness in it, if God is not speaking to you.

IT could happen to us if we can't learn (from scriptures above) to keep our yaps closed. We are WARNED.

If one person yaps, another person does; soon the whole neighborhood is barking and no one is listening to God!!

I think God would love it if we would get over our self-righteous, judgmentalness. They probably don't even know they are OUT.

I will not speak on this again. I'm dropping this ball... you pick it up.

I made banana bread. Come get a handful.

    AND WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

Jesus Christ is the Son of God

    His Virgin birth

    His perfect sinless life

    His Death on the Cross

    Resurrected after 3 days

Witnessed by his disciples and at least 500 people in town who SAW him with their own eyes and gave testimony of it.

If anything is added on or taken away, then that is heresy.
  • Mishael to Willie - In Reply on Acts 2:38 - 5 years ago
Sometimes you need to read a lot of scripture About the Holy Spirit to be CERTAIN about who He is and what He is all about. He is not a tongue.

If you are nervous about who the Holy Spirit is... He already knows you are. He'll wait till you search the scriptures to be settled in your mind, that He is the 3rd person of the Godhead; He is the Spirit of Christ Jesus. Jesus went to the Cross partly so we all who believe on Jesus can receive the Holy Spirit without fears. Knowledge is strength.

If your Bible has a dictionary OR a concordance; look up all those scriptures.

When you ARE SURE you want the Holy Spirit ?? Then hold up your hands and say this out loud: " Holy Spirit I trust you and I want everything that you want me to have". I receive it now by faith. Thank you Jesus!!

Amen! Praise God! So Be It! Hallelujah!

  • Pray 4 the Holy Ghost on 1 Timothy 3 - 5 years ago
Because the Bible has no contradictions, it must be accepted in its entirety. Problems arise when people begin to inject their "knowledge" and "beliefs" into Church doctrine. For instance, I have read people saying that Timothy's position was based on how women were treated at the time. "Why, that is down-right sexist!" you might say. And you may be right. But the truth be told, your position is irrelevant and something you could correct God on when you see Him.

There is also another argument I have heard. And that is "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." - 1 Corinthians 12:23. That verse is used to justify equality between men and women and therefore allowing women to preach. If one truly has the Spirit, one would understand the relationship between men and women and inherently know that they are not called upon to teach in church.
  • Pray 4 the Holy Ghost on 1 Timothy 3 - 5 years ago
Let us pray that the Holy Ghost gives us wisdom to address the issue of women preachers and keeping silent. God himself set the relationship model in Gen 3:16 when unto the woman he said, "I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." When would you then think that He would then allow women to preach to men? When Jesus chose the 12 Apostles, how many were women? Timothy, when laying out the structure of the Church was quite clear in the leadership roles. 3:1 - This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop. Likewise, in 3:12 " Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife". Timothy then expounds on these concepts by describing the personality characteristics of men and women in which he clearly identifies the role of each. Finally, Timothy writes in 3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?). Paul, in 1 Corinthians 12 talks about the diversity of gifts. He specifically mentions men. He concludes in 12:28 that God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. No where does Paul mention women. He does mention women in Titus 2:3/4 - The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children.

  • Adam - In Reply on John 5:43 - 5 years ago
Please be respectful. The Bible already answered your question. You cited a verse in James, but have you read the whole book, specifically James 2? If someone disagrees with that then they're disagreeing with God's word. And if they disagree with God's word, who are they following exactly? If someone disagrees that Christianity requires action then they are disagreeing with Jesus himself. It's clear who wins that argument. The Bible is what matters, not what people want to believe.
  • Jesse - In Reply on Acts 2:38 - 5 years ago
    Willie,

The only gift that is promised to those who receive Christ is the gift of the Holy Spirit. He gives us His Spirit. No other gift is promised to us. You had nothing to be embarrassed about. There are some who teach that speaking in tongues is evidence that you have the Holy Spirit. Some will also say that your inability to speak in tongues is because of your "lack of faith." There's a theological term for that. It's called Baloney! There is no such thing as a person who has been born of God's Spirit lacking faith. I have never spoken in tongues but I have no doubt that God's Spirit is working in my life. The tongues that are being taught in the church today are not the tongues of the bible. As far as getting re-baptized (Water), there is nothing saying you can't do that. Water baptism is an outward testimony of an inward change. In other words, you are giving a public testimony that you have received Christ and you are identifying yourself with His death, burial, and resurrection. Water baptism is a physical human expression. Jesus baptizes people with His Spirit. That is the baptism that saves you!

    Jo, jo

The word good in V. 34 means useful. In those days, salt was a preservative. They put salt on things to keep it from putrefying. But if salt does not contain the proper ingredients, what is it good for? Jesus talks about salt and light in Matt 5:13-16. He says, "You are the salt of the earth." At this point and time in experiencing the fullness of God, He says, YOU ARE the salt of the earth. And then He says, "YOU ARE the light of the world." Salt was used for two things. It was used as a preservative. They used it to preserve food, especially meat and vegetables. They also used it for purification. In 2 Kings 2:19-23, salt was used to purify bad water.

But to know why He used the term salt, we need to understand that God made a covenant of salt with Israel ( Numbers 18:19), which God said would be upon David and his descendants. Paul in Romans Chapter 11 said all of the Jews of the Kingdom. In Matt 5:14-16, Jesus says you are salt and you are light. He went on to say that you can't take a light and put it under a bushel.

What He is saying is you can't snuff out the light of the Lord. The light amongst the Jews was the Messiah. You are salt. Christ in you is the light, and Christ in you is the purification and the preservative for the people around you and especially in your life.

The command is let your light so shine. Did you ever sing that song "This little light of mine, not going to let anybody blow it out? It can't be blown out. Nobody can blow it out. The command itself, (let your light so shine) kind of sounds like an invitation. But literally, it is "Shine your light," which is a command of God. Shine your light! I don't have to worry about going out to my car to find the light because the Lord said for me to shine it. Israel was said to be the light of the world. Isaiah 42:6, Isaiah 49:6, and Isaiah 60:3 says that the Jews were to be the salt and the light of the world.

    Adam . . .

    Which ONE is IT?

    FAITH or WORKS???

    It CAN'T BE BOTH!

    Ephesians 2:8-9

For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH; and that NOT of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

NOT of WORKS, lest any man should boast.

    James 2:24

Ye see them how that by WORKS a man is justified, and NOT by FAITH ONLY.

    You HAVE A DILEMMA!

    ANSWER:

    WHO is James written TO?

    James 1:1

James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, TO THE TWELVE TRIBES which are scattered abroad, greeting.

    James was writing to ISRAEL!

    WHO is Paul writing TO?

    Ephesians 3:6

That the GENTILES should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

Pretty CLEAR, You Are A GENTILE!

Paul is The Apostle Of The GENTILES!

You had better listen to Paul, Romans to Philemon, to FIND out HOW to be SAVED!

People actually do need to 'do something' to be saved. Believe Jesus is Lord and God's son, confess and repent of sins, and follow Jesus by obeying his commandments- those are all actions. This is what Jesus says himself: John 14:15.
