  • Jesse - In Reply on Deuteronomy 31 - 4 years ago
    Rick,

Very well said. It is literally translated "Be continually working out your own salvation with fear and trembling."

So this tells me that it's a process and I am involved in the process of continually working it out. And then the very next verse ( Philippians 2:13) tells me who's actually doing the work.

It says "For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."

The word "works in you" is the word energizing and I see you used that word. For it is God who is continually energizing in you both to will, and to energize of His good pleasure whatever He thinks best!

It's His energy, so it's whenever He wants to energize my spirit for His Spirit to work in me. It's all according to His good pleasure.

So we're to be continually involved in the process of having our salvation worked out because it's God who is working it out. We're just the vessel. But it is God in us doing the work.

    Nice talking with you brother!

Hi Donna, what you said about loving God, and sending his Son to be crucified for us, and that we are washed in the blood of his salvation is the basic essence of faith.

Throughout the gospels Jesus is praying to God the Father many times, when he teaches his disciples the Lord's prayer, Matthew 6:9 "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name."

when he teaches his disciples the first and great commandment, Matthew 22:36-39 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."

he also teaches his disciples how they should baptize as in Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

these are but a few examples of how we are taught to pray, the Godhead (Trinity) is explained clearly in 1 John 5:7

you have no reason to be confused, if someone teaches different they are not teaching what is written in the bible. After Jesus baptism when he was in the wilderness and tempted by the devil he didn't argue, but he did quote scripture, this is why it is so important to read our bible (KJV) on a daily basis, we need to put on the whole armor of God, as in Ephesians 6:11-18, a few years ago I started to read my bible on a daily basis, and now have an inner peace that I never had before. God bless

Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" "For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

If Joash died in verse 13 and Elisha died in verse 14, how is Elisha talking to Joash in Verse 14 ? Can someone explain this?

13 And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.

15 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.

HI Helen That's in the category of respect and heart for a loved one fallen asleep awaiting the return

biblically the honor is carrying out or continuing there legacy or what they taught you. So nothing wrong

with heart and memories of loved ones. I've had fellow believers in my life that have fallen asleep and my

memories are what they taught me and continuing in that. So my bottom line that's an area of the heart.

The greatest comfort is knowing we will see each other again at the gathering together.

Hi Natashya When your born again his relationship with you is solid by His will he God through Jesus Christ has

passed tens forgiven us all trespassesor sins, when this thing hits you you will have no problem forgiving someone

else. Also Psalm 103:12 as far as the east is from the west so far has he removed our transgressions sins from us.

Here's the cool part east and west are directions they never meet, there not like the poles, if you go north eventually you'll go south and vise versa but when you go west you will never catch up and go east. Look at

the point that's being made God through Jesus Christ forgave our sin past present and future because he knows as the Psalmist says in verse 14 for he knoweth our frame and we are dust, but to us who believe His mercy and love

    and forgiveness endureth forever.

Read whole Psalm its dynamite. Last thought If you look at yourself you'll become

doubtful if you look at the world you'll get depressed if you look at others you can become miserable but when you

look at Christ you will see all Gods possibilities made available to you. We are the Righteousness of God in christ!

What you look at and believe you become! Food for Thought

    GOD BLESS

    Mishael,

Well, it is strange that with all of the technical abilities we have to see inside the womb now that so many still choose to have their babies in their own wombs killed by being crushed, dismembered, cut up, burned with chemical solutions, and having their brain stem punctured. So sad, and how condemning for our society!

Just 5 years ago my pro-choice niece became pregnant and had an ultra-sound at about 14 weeks. The ultra-sound distinctly showed her baby's hand with fingers spread apart! Now that is a witness!. Her son is now 4 and a real blessing. Don't know if any pro-choicers on that side of the family have changed their minds yet, because it is all about convenience and an attitude that children are mostly an interference in a person or couples life. So sad.

God's ideas are always best. I pray that more will think like He does about creating new people and protecting them once He creates them.

    Thanks Sister GiGi.

It's funny how We share views of Scripture It's not the dialog that often breaks the peace It's what's sown within that reflects outwardly.

You don't have to give your view, just post the scripture and there's contention!

    We shouldn't be surprised

The concept is all through scripture.

    John 1:4-5.

No one is going out to seek contention, It's already there.

    ( Example)

    Matthew 10:32-38.

God don't compromise his Holiness to exercise judgment and I don't think he asks us to when dividing the word.

We have to wonder If we're not going to win them over and they know they're not going to win us over, Why are they so adamant on keeping this dialog going? Perhaps they're after the audience. And this is where I believe 2 John 1:10-11 applies.

And if we've been battling this for I know over a year!! Perhaps this verse apply.

    Matthew 7:6.

My question was when do it apply and if we're so fundamental about everything else why not this?

In the secular we call the democrats "liberals" But aren't we also as a whole.

And this especially goes for those who say salvation is by works and not by grace when Paul makes that clear all through Galatians starting here-

    Galatians 1:6-8.

Paul says let them be a curse

    But we call them Brother.

    He also emphasize it in

Philippians 3:2-11. And this is the only "religion" given to Man and it slew us.

Now this is a peaceful dialog that you and I are having but some would say it's contentious.

And by the way I have been guilty of this as well, that's why I carefully say WE.

Yes this is difficult but did the Lord say it wouldn't be?

    Be strong in the Lord

    God bless.

I agree, if this was such a dangerous "pandemic" (panic with "dem" inside of it). then we would definitely be testing and requiring vaccinations for those breaking our laws be illegally crossing our border when those who come here legally are required to be vaccinated or else quarantine. I think this administration is deliberately trying to spread covid across the United States because they think their party has something to gain with the pandemic continuing, especially if it gets more "out of control" (as they would describe it). My guess is that it will die down in a year or so, because that is what happened with the other SARS viruses. I think it will continue to mutate but each mutation will weaken it, not strengthen it.

So, as citizens we should be prepared to stand up to those who are restricting our liberty rights through mandates and other scare tactics.

Good question, Helen. I am not sure if there is any Scripture on tis, but someone else may have something to point us to.
  • GiGi - In Reply - 4 years ago
Spencer, Yes it is a "different" gospel in that it ignores clear teaching in the Word that teaches that people are saved through believing that Jesus' death and resurrection saves a person from the just judgment of God on sinful men.

Let's hope that this does not set off another round of disputation on this like it did just a week or so again. I think enough was probably said in those discussions for those involved to get their points across. I am glad to agree with you.
  • GiGi - In Reply - 4 years ago
    Thanks Chris,

I agree. Practicing trustworthiness in our dealings with one another is important. God blesses those who are honest. Those who take advantage of others, borrowing without intending to pay is just stealing from others by a different "name".

As believers, we should care about having a personal integrity that reflects the character of Christ whether we are the borrower or the lender.

    Hi Rupert,

Jesus is saying here that no one will be able to state positively the day and our Jesus returns at the end of time. No one can pinpoint the exact day and time. People who do are speaking falsely, since do pinpoint are in contradiction to what Jesus states. However, He does tell us to be ever ready for His return, living in such a way that we will not be surprised by His appearing. The Bible has many prophecies concerning events that will come to pass as the end draws near. We can be aware of these prophesies and make note of them. We can be wise in the Word in this, but He also says that it will be like in the days of Noah, life as usual so to speak, or perhaps exceedingly wicked, as it was before the flood.

Cynthia, you are correct. The Bible does not condemn consuming alcohol as long as it is done in moderation. One can have one's choice of alcoholic beverage occasionally or even often and not sin. It is when it becomes a compulsion or someone gets drunk on purpose, where it becomes a sin because it affects your mind and body in a way that can lead to further sin through poor judgment and it dulls one to the move and work of the Spirit within us.

I, myself, rarely have a drink with alcohol in it. I do use it in some dishes I prepare. My husband's family is full of people exhibiting alcoholic behaviors. So, I made the decision to not drink with them when we were first married 42 years ago, as I wanted to be clear minded and always ready to be a positive witness for Jesus.

Donna, May God bless you today with understanding of His Word concerning Who He is as revealed in Scripture.

I concur with those who cite Scripture that speak of God as a triune God of three persons. As Jesus said, baptize believers in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. He prayed to His Father. He said He will send the Holy Spirit. He is speaking of the Father and the Holy Spirit as other Persons, not three personalities within Himself.

The teachings of the church you are attending are denying the eternal Triune nature of God. They are saying that your baptism is invalid. You are now confused because these teaching go against what is said in Scripture that you have believed. Plus, they did not address your serious prayer need, but inserted their desire to convince you of your spiritual need instead.

If it was me, I would not go back to such a fellowship due to the error they teach and the obvious agenda they have to pressure people to come in line with what they preach, in disregard to the ideas and needs of people like you.

I hope that you are helped by what is said here in responses to your post. Most people posting on this site put forth a Triune Godhead. A few put forth a Oneness Doctrine where God operates in three modes or aspects of one being. I will just end with the fact that this Oneness doctrine emerged many times within the church over the centuries and the church at large rejected this doctrine as heresy. It's technical term is Modalism. You can google it and find out more of what your church is promoting and its history.

Thanks for your reply Brother Dan.

Here's where you're out of line.

I've never posted concerns about the forum, They do a great job.

Here's a paste of what I said exactly.

    My Quote :

I understand to some this is "just" a KJV Discussion forum. However we do use it to try and win some over to Christ, If that's so then all Scripture is practical and not set aside till Sunday. We are to apply it and all of it, and all the time.

You see the emphasis is that we are allowed to use the forum to witness and present ( ALL scripture ).

And these are the Scriptures I had I Mind.

    2 John 1:10-11.

    Mathew 7:6.

    Mathew 7:13-23.

    Galatians 8:1-9.

    Matthew 12:30.

    Are these Scriptures relevant today?

    If so are they suggestions?

    When do we apply them?

Are they given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness?

If we believe Scripture is applicable today do we apply it to our walk?

In other words do you take what you believe in and put it in to action?

Are do we just say "No it's just a forum."

I believe it's more because we use it to lead people in to eternity and some whether they are continuous of it or not holds to a Doctrine that does otherwise.

So why bid them God speed after a year or so of dialog.

    God bless.

    Thanks Spencer,

I do think that the Word does tell us to be peaceable as far as it is possible. But, as you noted in both posts, we are to speak up when something is posted that obviously does not align with the teachings of the Word. This is not comfortable to do. It takes some courage and certainly prayer. Some people do not like that people discuss differences in beliefs on here, being uncomfortable with conflict. Others like a platform, like you said. Others, led by the Spirit, speak up when ideas are expressed that falsify who God is, or the gospel, or other ideas that challenge what is considered by the majority of believers through the ages as correct belief. I appreciate it when people speak up about what they truly believe, and I also appreciate it when people show courage and speak up to disagree, which opens the conversation up to a more lengthy interchange that more deeply addresses a topic. This is not a negative thing to do. To some it may seem to be, and those who think this way are free to not read a discussion or enter the conversation with a post.

Like , others here, I have lot to learn yet in my journey with Christ. I am compelled by posts that I agree with and disagree with to prayerfully study more on a topic and trust that the Holy Spirit will guide me in the truth, as He does for others who sincerely seek to find out more about a spiritual topic.

Thanks for your contributions to our discussions here.
