Hello Bill & thank you once again. As I understand from your earlier post, that you also believe that 'sleep' in this instance, refers to death. It being a euphemism, unlike 'trust' (in your example), which isn't one. That being the case, 'sleeping in the salvation of Jesus', seems fine in one sense, yet doesn't fit the context here. Paul is writing to the Thessalonians because of their concern & sorrow that those who have departed earlier have altogether disappeared from view. So Paul says, that those who have died may indeed have their bodies in the grave, but when Jesus comes, He will bring those very persons back to Earth with Him ( 1 Thessalonians 4:13,14). There is no break in the train of thought here (from verses 13-18).

Re: 1 Samuel 28:11-20. This is in the OT economy, where we can understand that Samuel's spirit, & of those deemed righteous, were in a holding place of comfort, even as Jesus outlined in Luke 16:19-31. After the crucifixion & resurrection, we don't find evidence of such a place of rest for the believer.

With the account of the rich man & Lazarus, we might have to defer on that, as I feel, if Lazarus didn't exist, then really none of the other details would make sense & would have to be treated metaphorically (i.e. no place of punishment & suffering).

"Jesus restored life to at least three (3) bodies, for these are recorded", you wrote. Sorry, I need enlightening: where is this number recorded? I only know of, "And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose", without giving a number. Many thanks again, brother.

Hiya Bro. Dan John 7 : 39 This speak he of the Spirit for the H.G. was not yet given , When Jesus spoke of water baptism it was the spirit the H.G. he was speaking of not water Baptism . When Jesus ministered to the woman at the well he said whosoever drinks of this water ( Salvation by water baptism ) he shall thirst again But the water i shall give him ( the H.G HE SHALL NEVA THIRST AGAIN ) But Salvation by water baptism you will thirst again . Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again, Jacobs well salvation by h20 Baptism. When JESUS spoke of water baptism it was baptism of the H.G. As John says. You will neva thirst again with this WATER FROM HEAVEN. Jesus told the woman if thou knewest the gift of God WHICH IS THE H.G. that Child of Promise. Our new innerman that has to be born in US which is spirit the H.G. that living Water .

Hi Minda. This means that the Shunammite woman had nothing special to request from the higher powers of the land, as she was self-sufficient, living among her own people who would readily provide for her, if the need arose. Yet, Elisha pursued his desire to give her something for the hospitality she offered him & Gehazi. And so she, in due time, gave birth to a son. And you know the story from there.

Would an angel , a heavenly being consider itself a brethren ? An angel is an immortal being not sinful flesh like us . Brethren is an earthly familial fleshly word isn't it ? For all of these excellent replies , including yours , I say thank you but I'm not sure I'm any wiser . Lots of different answers makes me think I'm not the only one who isn't 100 per cent sure . Thank you for your excellent reply , I shall keep it in mind .
  • Cassidy - In Reply - 4 years ago
I understand exactly what you are saying and thankyou for your reply . The fact that I received so many varied answers makes me think that just maybe I'm not the only one who isn't 100 per cent sure about this . Revelation is a hard book for me . Some things are so clear and obvious and other times I feel like I'm looking into a pile of mud ! Nevermind , we will know all in the end of days . Thank you .

How strange , how easy it is to be wrong . I always thought that Jesse was a girl ! My apologise Brother Jesse !
  • Cassidy - In Reply - 4 years ago
Thank you Ferdinand . Your explanation is very clear and I'm inclined to agree with you though I'm not 100 per cent convinced , or I wouldn't have asked what others think but your way of thinking seems the most likely to me . Thank you .
  • Cassidy - In Reply - 4 years ago
Thank you brother Dan . I'm inclined to agree with you except for one thing . I don't believe that the resurrection has taken place yet . I believe that will happen when Christ returns to earth . So you can see my confusion . Thanks again for your answer .
  • Cassidy - In Reply - 4 years ago
Thank you for your help . I know we shouldn't worship any one except God . I am more confused by the angels reply than by any thing else . Is the angel a heavenly being or a human being ? John seems to think it's a heavenly being but the words that the angel uses seem to imply a human being . I know it doesn't really matter but it bugs me . Thanks again .

Thank you Hope. Here again, I would have a problem, as I don't believe in an apostolic appointment in the present-day Church. The apostles of Christ were there for a limited time, as appointed by the Lord, & that appointment was completed at the giving of the final Revelation. Both apostles & prophets, in the biblical sense, have ceased, as nothing more can be added to God's Word. So actually I would be very uncomfortable & wary of any Fellowship that entertains such positions. Thank you for your concern, sister.

Only Gabriel or Michael speaks that way. Use the search box to look up scriptures with their names.
  • Mishael - In Reply on Isaiah 11 - 4 years ago
The way I heard the story of this, is Jesus removed it, folded it neatly and placed it to the side. As in a statement left for who entered His tomb the 3rd day.

That all was as he said it would be. It is Finished!

I do the same thing myself. When I have fixed a broken lamp or something. When I'm done I clean everything up and put my tools in a pile ready for the toolboxes.

I apologize but these are some of the weirdest conversations.

You give your commentaries, but are you reading from the Commentary Box on this website? Do you Google "Bible Commentaries" to read Gills and others?

    Sorry for my intrusion.

That sounds like a great ministry Helen, putting up Scriptures with music on the Web. I would think that you would be quite safe to add those italicized words as well, as with words put into music, generally affords one much license, which no one should object to. May the Lord use your efforts & give you wisdom in bringing it all together.

Dear "Cassidy" 22:9Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

We have different word in translations on Revelation 22:9 co-servant is not a human. fellowservant is not necessary a human.

U know we have Only One God an He is God and Him we shall worship. Not anybody else. I reed this today:

Colossians 2:6 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

18Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

I'll hope this will help u Love u in Christ.

    @Jasse

    Hi Jesse

Did you notice the phrase '' I am of your fellow servant and of thy brethren the prophets ''? This is a human being not a ministering spirit. For angels are not prophets. The word angel is interchangeably used to mean God's messages which are both ministering spirits and people. for this case it is a person not a ministering spirit

    Brother ChrisE,

Regarding the thief on the cross, I will reiterate previous responses directed at this issue. God can have mercy on whomever he pleases, please see the scripture below:

Romans 9:18 "Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth."

It sounds like you have an issue with God choosing who he wants to have mercy on? If so, your argument is not with me, it is with God!

When Jesus forgave the thief on the cross it was "a special act of mercy" for the thief, and NOT a message "to all mankind" to go ahead and keep sinning and as long as you believe in Christ you will be saved. That is a FALSE MESSAGE with a cult like following. The devil and his demons believe, based on your doctrine "of believe only" they go to heaven too!!

In addition to Believing, we must be baptized in water, receive the Holy Spirit, also REPENT, and lead a good christian life following the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is Jesus/God stating all of this throughout the bible, and in the following scripture:

    John 3:5

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

    John 14:15

"If ye love me, keep my commandments."

    Revelation 22:12-14

12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Do you believe the above scripture? If you believe the above scripture, and if you love Jesus you will follow HIS advice! If you turn your back on the above scripture, Jesus has already said that he will be our JUDGE, and he will judge us according to HIS WORD!

If you can't believe the above scripture from Jesus/God, your disagreement is not with me, it's with God!

    God Bless.

    Brother Chris,

Thank you so much. I had just spent some time going back through Revelation chapter 22, and then to Revelation 1:1, mainly to refresh my memory of the order in which these things were revealed to John. There are actually 4 steps mixed in there:

God gave it to Christ, Christ gave it to His angel, which is very interesting. The angel gives the revelation to John, in order for John to give it to the servants of God.

I have always understood angels to be spirit beings, not human. Anyway, I wanted to share a little more with Cassidy, but for some reason, my thoughts were as though they were going through a blender and I was unsure on what else to say. And then I read your post and it was perfect. I don't think I could add anything else. Thanks again my brother!

Hello, let me explain something important about translations. Let's say you're translating a phrase from Spanish to English: quiero burrito = I want a burrito. One has 2 words, the other 4 words and both mean the same thing. The equivalent italics here would be [I] and [a] as in [I] want [a] burrito, because those are used to complete the translation to make it grammatically correct, without it, it not a proper translation into that language.

If I say "Want burrito" you might think that sounds strange and incorrect, because it is. So, someone accusing someone of 'adding' to the Bible is false and shows a lack of understanding as they are actually making the translation correct. The italics showing which words completed the translation is only a convenience to those using greek concordances and strongs, and things with literal word for word translations.

Brother Dan, the word says God is no respecter of persons. He would not treat the thief differently, he does't treat a handicapped person differently.

He is the SAVIOUR of ALL MEN and MAN has nothing to ADD.

    The GOSPEL reveals this TRUTH.

  • Helen - In Reply on Psalms 92 - 4 years ago
    Thanks Chris!

I'm working on a website putting musical scriptures in it - and b/c I ran across KJV Bibles that

did not have italics and then found this site - I was afraid to put the scriptures up until I had a better understanding.

You make a great point about the italicized words offering more meaning.

    God bless you,

    Helen
