Bill, I just want you to know that I'm praying for you. I cannot begin to understand what you must be going through but The Lord does for sure. So I asked Him to help you.

Which saints went home with Jesus at HIS resurrection?
  • Grace - 4 years ago
I must publicly apologize. I replied to a sisters post on Hebrews 10:25. Trying to encourage her to attend a church building fellowship. Apparently, I added, "in the house of the Lord" to the scripture! I corrected her and the Holy Spirit told me to check the scripture as I wrote it from "memory". I somehow added "in the house of the Lord" to the scripture. I am so sorry. I am mortified at myself. I tried to apologize to her but could not remember where the post was and after searching, was unable to locate it. I'm trying to correct my mistake and ask forgiveness.

The scripture says ; Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,*, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.

(*) This is where I added "in the house of the Lord"

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your interpretation of the Apostles expected timetable for the return of Christ.

I do believe the Apostles belief that Christ would return for them within their lifetime was tempered with time. As you read in the discussion between Chris and myself, there is evidence, at least to me, that Paul grew to realize the tasks given to the believers by Christ would take longer than originally expected.

I see this as no negative reflection upon the Apostles. Scripture abounds with evidence the Apostles did not understand so much of what Christ taught to them as His future "missionaries". Foremost to me is their not understanding the crucifixion and resurrection.

But would we have understood? From a Jewish view of the Messiah, most likely not. We can not fault them as their expectations were entirely different from god's plan. Plus, our minds are slow to grasp some of the concepts of God's purposes.

Again, thank you for the kind comments.

Hello again brother Chris. As always, your thoughts give me the inspiration to explore the verses we are discussing. Thank you for stimulating my mind.

2 Corinthians 5:1-8, to me, is not reflecting the actual Rapture in and of itself, but more of Paul's expectations of his pre-Rapture and post-Rapture existence. Verse 6 - " Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:". While in this earthly body, our spirit is not in the presence of the Lord as He resides in heaven while we reside on earth. No question as to the truth of this concept. Verse 8 - " We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord". I see this as an expression of longing to exit the trials of this life and enter the rest preceding the actual spiritual entry into heaven.

Philippians 1:21-24 expresses the same as the verses above.

In both sets of verses, I do not see Paul expressing an immediate spirit in heaven event. To me, they do not say this. It is a happening that will occur with no timetable.

Your points for 2 Timothy 2:10-13 are well taken and understood. My purpose in using this scripture selection is verse 11. "It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:". To me, this verse reflects a new recognition of the timetable for the return of Christ. We will live with Him without a sense of it being immediate.

Your comment was, which is a very good observation, "an allusion to the resurrection of the body, I see it as specifically to the Promise made to those who have died to sin & self". I agree with the allusion of a resurrection, but not of the body at the rapture. First Corinthians 15:40 - "There are also bodies in the heavens and bodies on the earth. The glory of the heavenly bodies is different from the glory of the earthly bodies". This is reflected in 1 Corinthians 15:51-52.

Until our next chat, brother in Chr

Plz lemme give ya my slant on why Jesus always refered to himself as the Son of Man , 88 Times Jesus refered to himself as the Son of Man, Simply b/c mankind has to be bornagain of an incorruptible seed which is the seed of Christ That living WORD . Romans 7 : 4 Paul tells us that we must be married to Christ and bring forth fruit unto God which is the H.G. the Child of Promise ,This fruit unto God is a baby Christ which is the Child of PROMISE THE H.G. Unless ya receive the Kingdom of GOD as lil Child you will in no wise enter there in. The H.G is his offspring that is born in us via his seed and he said whosoever receiveth one SUCH CHILD IN MY NAME RECEIVETH ME . Thus he is truly the Son of Man , Manskinds fruit unto God. Thou shall suck dry the breasts of the Gentiles, Even the Gentiles are gonna birth a baby Christ mankinds fruit unto God . Kings shall be your nursing fathers and Queens shall be your nursing mothers impling that men and woman are gonna birth a baby Christ The son of man. Thats what the new birth is all about that great Promise that Christ Jesus wd be multiplied as the stars of heaven which requires that we wd birth a baby Christ the Child of PROMISE . When he breathe on them they were impregnated by his seed ,his breath was his word which is his seed ,B/c I have spoken these words sorrows has filled your hearts ,When a woman is in travail she has sorrows But after the Child comes which is a Baby Christ. The son of man The H.G.that Child of PROMISE , her sorrows are turned into Joy. Our new Birth . She brought forth a manchild which is a Baby Christ, Mankinds fruit unto God. Thats y he always refered to himself as the SON OF MAN

Eneyval. We could think of that passage using a present-day scenario of an employer seeking the right person for the advertised position. He may receive twenty applications for it, but he has to still sift through each one, seeking out those qualities (both human & professional) that would best fit the position - where the high salary & conditions offered will ensure he will get the best output on behalf of the company. Likewise, Nebuchadnezzar sought out those from the captured Israel folk that met his specific criteria. And of course, God was with those four men (v17) blessing them with added skills for the job.

Hello Helen. I believe that you're correct & you've picked up on the essence of that verse. The Psalmist's goodness (however, commendable it might be), is absolutely "nothing" (in Hebrew) when God's Goodness is considered or compared to.

  • Chris - In Reply on Psalms 90 - 4 years ago
Hello T. Harjo. I'm unsure to what extent you want to study (or, share from) Psalm 90, but I can give you an outline of the Psalm that you can develop on.

It is the oldest Psalm in the Psalter, accredited to Moses. It can be divided as follows:

Verses 1,2: the eternality of God.

Verses 3-6: the fraility of man.

Verses 7,8: the sinfulness of man.

Verses 9-12: the shortness of life.

Verses 13-17: Moses' prayer for God's Grace upon His people. When we receive His Grace, life will be joyous, His Work in us & for us will be appreciated when seen from His Perspective, & His Blessing will be upon our labours & we will be used of Him.

Jesus is the Son of David through the genealogy of his mother Mary . I believe it goes back to one of David's sons called Nathan . I have a big old chart made by an American company called the Good Thinks Company from Oklahoma . The chart was manufactured in 1975 , it shows the totall genealogy of Jesus and every major person , and a few minor ones , from the Bible , right back to Adam and Eve .

Yes Luoma , you are right . Remember the plagues in Egypt ? All those terrible things that God brought onto the Egyptians ? The one before last , the thick darkness ? That must have been terrifying ! What happened to the Israelites then ? They had light in all their dwellings ! Christ is our light and we can be sure that God knows how to protect and provide for His own . Stay strong and the reward will be overwhelmingly awesome ! Much love in Christ .

Hello, I don't think anyone is this thread that I've seen is suggesting to pray to Mary, unless you are? I believe some make Mary into a false god, and many even worship graven images and idols of her and other people in Catholic churches, which I think is clearly a violation of the 2nd of the 10 commandments.

Dee. In the original Greek, the word "mansions" is written as 'Mone'. And this can be translated as 'abode or dwelling places'; some even translate it as 'rooms'. The translators that used the word 'mansions', which is generally considered a 'very large stately building', I think intended to convey the meaning that there are many dwelling places within a large structure.

I had to read your 2nd sentence a couple times. If you don't do what is not taught in the Bible, is that like saying we should do what is taught in the Bible? If so, I agree.

1 Timothy 4.1 Read it ! Why praying to spirits is dangerous , Evil spirits can seduce people into believing they are Gods spirit .

So don't do what is not taught in the bible .

Pray to the father in Jesus name , Jesus is the only mediator between God and man .

Do not be seduced , stick with the clear teaching of the bible .

    2 Timothy 3.16 .

  • Parable of the Fig Tree - 4 years ago
This is a comment from 12 years ago which could help pinpoint prophesy:

    [Itsme Thistime on Jeremiah 24]

Mark 13:28 Christ tells us "Learn the parable of the fig tree" letting us know that it is imperative that those who follow Him learn this scripture. This let's us know we are in the last generation RIGHT NOW, because Judah had not been in Jerusalem since before Christ was born, until 1948 when they were aloud to return after WWII. To rephrase for better understanding, this parable let's us know that the end wouldn't come until Judah returned to Jerusalem. Judah was taken captive by the babylonians hundreds of years before Christ was on the earth, and had not returned until May 15, 1948, signifying the beginning of the last generation, or "the generation of the fig tree".

I asked a Jewish scholar how long a generation is, according to Jews. It's 70 years.

    Mishael

I don't want to argue generation time frames, please. Thanks :)

  • How Satan Tries to Twist Geneology; one of his weapons - In Reply on Genesis 3 - 4 years ago
    TWO Enochs in the Bible

Enoch (Hebrew: meaning "initiated") is a name in the Hebrew Bible used by two separate figures who lived during the generation of Adam.

The first Enoch was the SON OF CAIN.

He is the father of Irad. After Cain arrived in the Land of Nod, to which he was evicted by the Lord as his punishment for murdering his brother Abel. His wife became pregnant and bore Cain's first child, whom he named Enoch.

The SECOND Enoch was a descendant of SETH, the third son of Adam, and great-grandfather of NOAH ( Genesis 5:22-29). SETH is the bloodline of Jesus Christ ancestors and Must Not be Confused with Cains ancestor.

First Book of Enoch was at first accepted in the Christian Church but later excluded from the biblical canon. Its survival is due to the fascination of marginal and heretical Christian groups, such as the Manichaeans, with its syncretic blending of Iranian, Greek, Chaldean, and Egyptian elements.

Justin, Athenagoras, Irenaeus, Clemens Alexandrinus, Lactantius, and others borrowed an opinion out of this Book of Enoch, that the angels had connection with the daughters of men, of whom they had offspring (Nephilim: 'the giants of the past'). Tertullian, in several places, speaks of this book with esteem; and would persuade us, that it was preserved by Noah during the deluge. The Book of Enoch, however, was rejected by Origen, Jerome and Augustin as spurious.

    [newworldencyclopedia DOT ORG]

Mishael comment: there is Much confusion as to the First Enoch, son of CAIN (who was cursed by God), in Genesis.

Satan seeks to confuse people by causing those who are following to use THE BLOODLINE NAMES of Jesus's Geneology twice.

It helps to find charts made by reputable ministers on Google and compare carefully to the KJV record. Often charts will be disputed by those who dispute the person and Holy Lord Jesus. It all originated in Genesis.

Stay on task and don't incorporate heresy.

Hello Brother Dan , I will be happy to use scripture for you in discussions. It takes more time that I do not always have. However within my thoughts there is more room for more thoughts which leads to more scriptures. So where to start and where to finish? Love to you. You know by the Spirit of God whether a nice paragraph speaks to you or not. I know you do because the written Word of God dwells in the redeemed.

    God bless our faithfulness.
  • Chris - In Reply on 1 Thessalonians 4:17 - 4 years ago
Thank you again brother Bill & for the clarification of that Scripture. I too have to exercise care.

I gather from your comments on 2 Corinthians 5:1-8, you apply that Scripture to the Rapture. Whereas, I see it as the physical death of a believer & the immediate transition of his spirit into the Lord's Presence (i.e. while we're alive we're not in the Lord's Presence (Heaven) - then death ought to be welcomed because it means that we no longer have to 'groan' in our burdens of mortal life). I see that the apostle longed to be taken from this Earth, yet his earthly work must go on until the Call to come Home. Also Philippians 1:21-24: Paul expressing the same.

I'm unsure whether Paul began to doubt the 'timing' of the Lord's Coming; I think he lived in expectation of it given that the last days were always in view post-Crucifixion. I do recall Peter, in 2 Peter 3:3 ff, describe the condition of those 'scoffers' who will try to nullify the Lord's Promises, by saying, "Where is the promise of his coming?" And of course, Peter proceeded to show that the Lord's Promises are certain, as they were in Noah's day, & the utter destruction of the Earth by fire in latter days. That we cannot discern the times that God alone sets. If the Lord's Coming hasn't occurred as yet, "until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in" then that has to be the Lord's Determination.

2 Timothy 2:10-13. I take in your thoughts on this, though again, I see it differently. Paul shares 4 contrasts (from the last one): if we are faithless (faith deficient), He remains faithful; if we deny Him, He will deny us; if we suffer for Him, we will reign (in triumph) with Him; if we have identified with Him (in dying to sin & the old life, even as He died for us to give us salvation), we will enjoy eternity with Him. Excuse my thoughts added here, but as much as I agree that there's allusion to the resurrection of the body, I see it as specifically to the Promise made to those who have died to sin & self.

We have to keep the faith that God will show us and lead us the right way and not to take that mark, that's when the Holy Spirit will speak through us, & we have to let him do it, What's going to be hard is not being able to buy, trade, or sell. Put food up in your cabinets, and save gold medals to trade for food. God always shows us a way out, we can depend on that, Don't take the mark
  • Chris - In Reply on 1 Thessalonians 4:17 - 4 years ago
Thank you brother for those comments. I will leave off the matter of appearance of the evil spirit impersonating Samuel & the witch's response, or else that not being the case, it depends how one reads & comprehends that passage. Your view does have merit & worthy of further examination in light of other Scriptures.

However, you wrote: "the enemy knows what was already spoken by the true God". That is true & even as we earlier referred to Genesis 3:1-4. But the point I raised was, can devils know what has NOT been earlier spoken by God? In other words, is the spirit of prophecy with both the Holy Spirit & evil spirits? As far as I know, the fact of Saul's & his son's death happening on the following day - the fact of the army of Israel losing the battle to the Philistines are all unknown facts (though possible in Saul's mind), that are apparently well known to this 'evil spirit' impersonating Samuel. That is what I cannot fathom - it's not just a case of truth mixed with lies - here we have a prophetical utterance of what is yet to happen, that was undeclared earlier by God to any prophet.
